Notes:
To make the elf, first a stick figure is made with the twist-ties. The
elf’s pants are worked first, each leg from the foot up and sewn
together. The tunic body is crocheted and put on the body, and
then the tunic arms are crocheted from the hand up and sewn to
the tunic body over the stick figure’s arms. The hat secures the
wooden bead head.
Do not join rnds unless specified. Use stitch markers to keep track
of beginning of rnds.
All rnds are worked RS facing.
If no twist-ties of the exact length specified are available, twist 2
shorter ones together to make the right length.
Directions
Stick Figure
Double over the 5½” twist-tie to make legs and base for head.
Place wooden bead over the doubled end of the twist-tie far
enough that the doubled end sticks out of the top of the wooden
bead slightly. Wrap the 4” twist-tie around just below the wooden

Rep Rnd 2 until Arm measures 1¼”, join last sc with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off, leaving long sewing end.
Assembly
Place each Tunic Arm over stick figure’s arm and with needle
threaded on Tunic Arm’s long sewing end, sew to tunic around
arm hole.
Rep Rnd 3 until leg measures 1¾”, join last sc of last rnd with sl st
Hat
in first sc. Fasten off.
With MC, ch 2.
When making 2nd leg, leave long sewing end when fastening off.
Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 4 sc
Assembly
Place one Pant Leg over each leg of stick figure and with needle
threaded on long sewing end, sew Legs together on the inside.
Weave remainder of long sewing end through tops of legs like a
drawstring and pull tight. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: (Sc, ch 1) in each sc around. 4 sc, 4 ch sps
Rnd 3: Sc in each sc and ch sp around. 8 sc
Rnd 4: 2 sc in each sc around. 16 sc
Rnd 5: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) around, ending with 2 sc in
last sc. 22 sc
Rnd 6: Sc in each sc around, join last sc with sl st in first sc.
Tunic Body
Fasten off.
With CC1, ch 4 and join with sl st in first ch to form ring.
Assembly:
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 8 sc in ring. 8 sc
Rnd 2: (2 sc in next sc, ch 2, sk next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next
sc) twice. 10 sc, 2 ch-2 sps
Remove wooden bead, insert head part of twist-tie through
center of Rnd 1. Stick arms through each ch-2 sp. The remaining
rnds will be worked with tunic on doll.
Replace wooden bead for head. With 1 4” length of MC threaded
on yarn needle, insert needle through one side of hat, through
twist-tie loop sticking above wooden bead, and through other
side of hat to secure hat and head. Tie in a knot or bow. Trim
ends.
Rnd 3: Sc in each sc and ch-2 sp around. 14 sc
Finishing
Rnds 4-5: Sc in each sc around.
Weave in all ends except bow on hat.
Rnd 6: Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in
next sc, sc in next 5 sc. 16 sc
Rnd 7: Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 7 sc, 2 sc in
next sc, sc in next 6 sc. 18 sc
Rnd 8: Rep Rnd 4. Join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
