Difficulty: Easy
This fun do-it-yourself project is relatively easy to do! You will most likely be able to do it on
your own!
Time Required: 20 minutes
This should take about 20 to complete!
What you’ll need:
• 1 red balloon (a round one will work, but the long balloons work best)
• 1 long piece of blue kite string (5 meters) (any thin and very strong string will work)
• 1 plastic straw
• Scotch tape
• 1 La Vache Qui Rit pack
• 2 small pencils
• Scissors (Be careful and make sure to ask for mom or dad’s help whenever using them!)
How to build it: Creating the frame
1. Open the La Vache Qui Rit pack
and poke a very thin hole through the
middle of the cover and base.
2. String one end of the kite rope
through the hole of the cover that
you’ve just created.
3. Tie the end of the rope around the
pencil and cover it with tape so it stays
securely attached to the pencil. Close
the pack with the pencil inside.
4. String the other end of the kite
rope through the straw.
5. Continue and string the same end
of the rope through the hole in the
base of the La Vache Qui Rit pack.
6. Tie that end of the rope around the
other pencil and tape it securely.
Close pack with pensil inside.
7. You should now have the kite rope
securely fastened to either a cover or
base of a La Vache Qui Rit pack at each
end, and the straw should be hanging
in the middle of the rope.
8. How to play: You need a friend to
play with. You hold one of the La
Vache Qui Rit packs, and your friend
should hold the other. Stand as far
away from each other as the rope
will allow. Pull tightly so that the
rope is perfectly straight between
you - if it’s not straight, the rocket
won’t fly well.
9. Blow up the balloon, but don’t tie
the end, just pinch it closed with one
finger.
10. Tape the balloon to the straw now you’re ready to launch.
11. Let go and watch the rocket launch!
See how far it goes. Take turns,
see who can send their rocket the furthest!
