Providing quality supply staff to schools

Kirklees Supply Service
We became operational in September 2004, at the request of Kirklees
schools with the support and backing of headteachers, unions and local
authority officers to provide supply teachers to schools. Since then this
service has grown and we are now able to provide 1:1 tutors, administrative
assistants and exam invigilators.
Supply staff have an essential role to play in the life of a school. In today's
fast moving educational world of both local and national initiatives, well
informed and knowledgeable supply staff are vital for maintaining continuity
and consistency within all aspect of the school life.
Our mission
We aim to deliver recruitment solutions for schools by providing a reliable
and fast acting service at value for money, where quality is the focus.
We understand the requirements of schools and teachers—but don’t just
take our word for it:
“KSS is the only agency we work with and whom we trust. Their approach in
all areas is highly professional. All contact is polite, efficient but friendly and
assuring. KSS always keep us informed of every step along the way, whether
this is for a short or long term placement. I would not go anywhere else.”
Dawn Horton, Headteacher—Hillside Primary
“Punctual, prepared and effective”
Christine Kirkton, Headteacher—Thurstonland Endowed First
“KSS is an efficient service, always there when I call for cover at 7am and
90% of the time they will have the name of a supply teacher to me within 20
minutes.” Ian Jones, Teacher—Earlsheaton Technology College
“I have been using their service exclusively for a number of years now and,
with the emphasis on safeguarding, feel confident that the security of our
children is a priority. The staff respond quickly, are always pleasant and
helpful, and do their utmost to locate supply staff, even at a moment’s
notice.” Julie Wright, Bursar—Birkenshaw Middle

Qualified teachers
We have a dedicated team of good quality, local teachers who can act quickly
to cover your absence needs. We will match the right schools with the right
teachers so that we can find the best teacher possible to cover for short term
or maternity leave, long term sickness absence etc.
We have teachers and NQT’s looking for long term placements. We are able
to place teachers for 1, 2 or 3 terms. It is quick, easy and a real saving for
schools in both time and cost. It saves headteachers the worry and expense
of advertising and recruitment and all staff registered with us are guaranteed
to have had all the necessary pre-employment checks.
Our teachers benefit from being paid at teachers pay and conditions and by
having the opportunity to contribute to the teachers pension scheme.
1:1 tutors
We have teachers available to carry out 1:1 tuition. All 1:1 tutors have
attended the local authority’s training for tutors course, they have also been
provided with guidance documents to support them.
Administrative assistants
We have a team of administrative assistants many of whom have attended
Integris and/or SIMS training and have previous experience of working in or
with schools. With the information schools provide we can find the right level
of experience you require to fill your vacancy.
Exam invigilators
We have many exam invigilators on the register who have been fully briefed
on the invigilation of exams. Many of our exam invigilators have years of
