Live for Christ . . . Learning - Loving - Leading
HE KNOWS THEM BY NAME
GRADUATION REHEARSAL
The man who enters by the gate is the
shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the
sheep listen to his voice. He calls his
own sheep by name and leads them
out. When he has brought out all his
own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep
follow him because they know his voice. (John
10:2-4)
Graduation rehearsal will be held Friday, June 3, at 8:15
am. All seniors eligible for participation in the service
must be in attendance in order to participate in the
graduation service. Seniors will receive their caps, gowns,
and floor tickets at the end of rehearsal. Parents, please see
to it that the gown is taken from the package and ironed
before the Sunday service.
We are a heartbeat away from saying “good-bye”
to 96 young adults, the members of the KML
graduating class of 2011. It seems like yesterday
that they were wide-eyed freshmen, excited and
maybe a bit apprehensive as they entered this new
world of high school. The next “new world” they
enter will again come with excitement and
perhaps some nervousness as well. As they move
on to the next chapter of their lives, they will
undoubtedly face new and intensified temptations
– many more strangers’ voices will confront
them.
Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School will hold its thirtythird graduation service on Sunday, June 5, at 2:00pm.
Professor Bill Tackmier of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary,
will be the guest speaker. Pastor Jeffery Bolwerk of Trinity
Lutheran Church in Jenera, Ohio, serve as liturgist. Student
graduation speakers are Jessica Sandoval (David’s Star,
Jackson) and Laura Zeamer (Morning Star, Jackson). The
doors to the building will open at 12:30pm. All friends of
KML are invited to attend.
It is our prayer that they take with them what they
heard here every day – the message of Jesus
Christ and him crucified. May they spend time
every day in God’s Word so they remain built up
and strengthened in their faith. May they be
strong in worship attendance so that they are
encouraged by other believers, and so they have
many opportunities to hear God’s Word and to
receive the Lord’s Supper.
May they be
reminded that Jesus is indeed with them
individually. Jesus has called them, and he
knows each by name! He invested his very life in
them! Our Lord has great plans for every one of
our departing students; but more importantly, he
wants each of them to spend eternity with him in
heaven. To that end, we commend them to the
ongoing care of our Savior as their years at KML
become part of their past.

CHARGER CHOICE AWARDS
Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School Charger Club and
Student Council held the 13th Annual Charger Choice
Awards on Sunday, May 15. KML students who received
academic, athletic, music, and leadership awards during
the year were recognized. A copy of the list of recipients
is available in the rack outside the main office or may be
requested via e-mail at [email protected]
A TIME TO PLAN
I love the colors of spring. I especially enjoy the apple blossoms that fill my neighbor’s tree. The
color that I enjoy now is also a reminder of the wonderful fruit that will grow this summer and be
ready to eat in the fall.
That apple tree has produced tasty fruit for many years. I don’t know who planted that tree, but I
sure appreciate their thoughtfulness. The one who planted the tree possibly never got to enjoy the
“fruit” of his labor, but it sure is appreciated by those of us today.
The same story can be told about our KML Foundation. Throughout the years, donations have been
made to the Foundation by people who recognized the value of those gifts for the future. Because
the Foundation is established as an endowment fund, the gifts will have a lasting impact. The seeds
that are planted today will provide perpetual returns for tuition assistance and other KML projects.
This past year, the Foundation was able to award $24,000 in tuition assistance, but we would love
to see even more. Maybe you can help plant some more seeds to support the next generation of
KML students!
For more information on various ways in which you can contribute to the KML Foundation, especially through your estate
plan, contact: [email protected] or 262-677-4051 ext. 1116.

Music in the Woods Fundraiser
for the Washburn Family
Saturday, June 25, 2011
Time: 12 - 5pm
Barry works at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and has ataxia,
a degenerative disease which affects his muscles. It has no
known cure or “good” prognosis. For more information
about it go to www.ataxia.org/
At present, small motor skills have nearly disappeared. He
requires the assistance of a walker. His speech is slurred,
he does not realize his own inflection, and at times stumbles
for the right words.
In time, Barry will need to get all his nutrition from a feeding
tube as he will no longer be able to swallow. Eventually he
will be using a wheelchair and speak through a computer
because he will not be able to enunciate clearly.
Activities:
Christian Music Groups
Children’s Games
Discovery World
Silent Auction
Food
While the road ahead seems difficult and discouraging, both
Barry and Eunice continue to draw daily strength from God’s
gracious promise, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake
you (Hebrews 13:5). They also appreciate the prayers and
support they are receiving from their brothers and sisters in
Christ.
Proceeds from the Music in the Woods Fundraiser will be
used to help purchase a wheelchair accessible van for the
Washburn Family.
There will be games and activities for children, food, Christian music, a silent auction, and many
other activities for all to enjoy.
Items for the silent auction are needed and appreciated. Please bring them to the school office
or call to have them picked up. Please supply a description, the value and the name of the
person who donated the item.
David’s Star Lutheran Church
Following the
fundraiser
there will be worship
in the woods at 5pm.
Koine’ will perform a special concert
and will be supplying the music
for our service.
