Dear Alliance Coach Family,
Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. This is a very exciting month as it is our 5th
anniversary. Here at Alliance we are starting to gear up for the winter season. In the middle of
September I will meet with all of the department managers and staff to talk about how we can give all
of our customers a better RV experience this season. Last year we scattered our appointments thru the
day so there was no back up at the front counter in the am. It worked just great, but with all the new
customers we made and our all our existing ones we will need to come up with some great ideas to
move things along better while still giving the service we are known for.
Things are gearing up with Monaco RV. We now have in Wildwood the Vacationer in stock and the
Ambassador on its way. Hopefully by the Tampa Super show in January we will have the new Admiral
and Diplomat. The new Forester class c line is here and moving out rapidly as they are just beautiful
and built well. In Lake Park we have acquired the Coachman class c and also doing very well.
The most exciting news is in August we have started school here to certify some of our techs and
update others. This class is led by Ed Cowan and is given twice a week for two hours each session.
When completed in two to three months the graduating class will receive there RVIA certifications (or
updates) so they will be ready and qualified to work on your RV this season. This is a very big step for us
as we always want to provide the best service possible in the industry.
Last month we were nominated as a top 50 dealer in the country. This is a tremendous honor since you
must fit all aspects of a dealership from customer service, internet, and service satisfaction along with
many other qualifications. We are anxiously waiting the voting, and it will be awarded at the RVDA
convention in Las Vegas in a couple of months.
This season when arriving you will begin to see new uniforms at both locations. The staff will be wearing
yellow shirts and all managers will be wearing red so they are easier to spot if you need them. As
always please feel free to talk or discuss your issues with anyone you choose to. Also both locations
participated in the ALS ice bucket challenge along with a donation. They both can be seen on our
website. Starting to get excited to be seeing our seasonal friends back here at Alliance. If you have
any ideas for us to make things better please give me a call or speak to your contact here at Alliance.

Tech Tip: FRESH WATER SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
At the end of your camping season you drain the water system, winterize the RV and put it in storage for the winter. One
problem with this is that on most RVs, when you drain the fresh water holding tank there is still some water left in the tank.
Let’s say you do manage to drain all of the water out of the tank. There is still moisture in the water system. Just imagine
what can grow in that moist tank and in the water lines while it sits for three or four months. I’d rather not think about it.
This is the water tank that you drink from and the water you use to wash dishes and take showers with. We cannot assume
that it will stay safe and fresh like the water system in our home. Contaminated water is extremely dangerous. We not only
have to deal with a water system that hasn’t been used for some time, but when we travel in the RV we hook our water
system up to a different water source every time we stop to spend the night somewhere. We hook up to city water, well
water, and eventually contaminated water. You’ve probably heard people say don’t drink the water if you go to Mexico.
Well that can be true anywhere. We stopped at a campground one night just to get a few hours of sleep and I didn’t
bother to use the water filter. The water coming out of the faucet was cloudy and had small particles suspended in it.
There are no guarantees that any water is completely safe for us to drink, but if we take certain precautions we can keep
our RV water system safe to use. So where do we start? First of all you should always use a white non-toxic drinking hose.
Hoses not labeled safe for drinking contribute to lead and other dangerous chemicals getting in the water. Use the white
non-toxic hose for hooking up to the water source and take along a green or black garden hose for all other uses like
flushing out holding tanks or washing the RV. When you’re not using the drinking hose roll it up and connect the two ends
together. This will keep dirt and other debris from getting in the hose. The next time you use it run some water through it
before hooking it up to the RV.
Next you need to filter the water going into the RV with a high quality filtration system. Water filters do not purify the water
but they can control and remove bacteria, lead and other dangerous contaminants found in drinking water. You basically
have two choices on how to filter your RV water system. You can install an inline water filter directly to the water line that
you drink from, or you can filter all of the water going into the RV. I prefer to filter all of the water going into the RV. This
helps to protect the entire water system and filters the shower water to help prevent any skin irritation.
Possibly the most important step you can take is to keep the fresh water system sanitized. At a minimum you should sanitize
the system every spring when you take the RV out of storage and any time you notice stale water or an odor. It’s really
quite simple to do. You can start by draining the water heater. Go to the outside compartment where the water heater is
located. The drain plug, or petcock is located in the bottom left hand corner. Remove the plug and open the pressure
relief valve on top of the water heater to assist in draining. CAUTION: NEVER drain the water heater when it’s hot or under
pressure.
Next you need to locate the low point water line drains. It may take a while to find them, but I assure you they are there.
There will be one for the hot and one for the cold water lines. This is the lowest point in the water system. Open these and let
the water drain out. Next, find the drain for the fresh water holding tank and drain all of the water from it. At this point you
can turn the water pump on for a moment to force any remaining water out. Do not let the pump continue to run once the
water stops draining. Close all of the drains. What we have accomplished so far was to evacuate the majority of water
from the system.
Now take a quarter cup of house hold bleach for every fifteen gallons of water that your fresh water tank holds. Mix the
bleach, with water, into a one-gallon container and pour it into the fresh water holding tank. Fill the fresh water tank almost
completely full of water. Turn the water pump on, open all hot and cold faucets and run the water until you smell the
bleach at each faucet. Close the faucets. If it’s possible drive the RV or pull the trailer so the water can move around to
assist in cleaning the entire tank. Let it sit for at least 12 hours. Drain the entire system again and re-fill the fresh water tank
with potable water. Open all of the faucets and run the water until you no longer smell any bleach. It may be necessary to
repeat this process again to eliminate all signs of bleach from the water system. Once this is done it is safe to use your water
system.
If you follow these simple steps you can rest assured that the fresh water system in your RV truly is fresh. Happy Camping!

Here at Alliance Coach in Lake Park Georgia, we are hoping you all had a fabulous summer with lots
of fun and memorable adventures. Our facility here in Lake Park, GA did the ALS Water Challenge with
the help of a couple of our loyal customers doing the filming. We challenged our Wildwood facility and
look forward to seeing them do the challenge as well. You can see the video on our Alliance Coach
Facebook page. It was a lot of fun, very cold and done for a great cause. There are a lot of things that
will be going on for the next few months and we are hoping to bring in a lot of new customers. For the
month of September we are going to be having a huge sale in Lake City, FL on September 10-14.

Denny Beggs, who makes his home in The Villages, says, “I am from
Canton OH, and have three grown daughters—all college graduates
and am very proud of them! Sarah still lives in Canton and works in
management a Diebold. Kelly is a senior buyer for Armani in Manhattan,
and Lisa is a commercial photographer in Brooklyn. I’ve been in the RV
business for 41 years. Dad and I opened our first store in January 1973. I
worked every position possible at the dealership and my brother and I
were able to buy both locations when Dad retired. I went on to spend 3
years as sales manager for Terry Labonte RV in Greensboro NC, and then
moved to The Villages and have been with Alliance Coach for 3 years.”
Jeff Plemmons has spent his life in the RV business, helping his dad sell RVs
from the time he was 12. He stayed with the family business after
completing school, eventually becoming a co-owner of multiple locations
with his brother. He opened another RV business in 2004, grew it to over 50
employees, and sold it in 2010. He and wife Teresa moved to Ocala FL in
2012. Jeff has used his experience and degree in Business Management to
serve on the board of directors for YMCA Camp Hanes, a 400-acre summer
camp focused on building a character of honesty, caring, respect,
responsibility, and faith in young people.
David Whisnant is better known as “Cy”, a nickname from his dad who said
it came from the word “cyclone.” Cy claims he can’t imagine why! “I’ve
always had a passion for cars. While I was in the Navy, 1966 to 1970, I
bought and sold over 40 cars. When someone transferred out, their next
Duty Station may be a ship, so I bought them cheap, drove them for a
while, and sold them.” Over the years he sold RVs in his hometown of
Charlotte NC, then Knoxville TN where he & his lovely wife Deb talked his
employer, Buddy Gregg, into opening a dealership in Lakeland FL because
“it was just too cold in Tennessee for us.” In 2000, the dealership was sold
and Cy and son Dave opened a real estate and mortgage business, selling properties and homes in
the Polk City area. Cy and his lovely wife, Deb, have been together for 44 years and moved to
Wildwood in 2010 when Cy joined the Alliance Coach team.
Dean Harvey tells us, “I was born in Michigan where my family had
RV/mobile home dealerships in the ‘60s and ‘70s. In the mid ‘70s the
Harveys moved to Florida and opened several dealerships and then a
small RV factory where my brothers and I worked after school and on
weekends. In my 5 years with Alliance I have been a Service Writer and
Customer Service Manager before moving to sales. My experience has
provided me with the knowledge to recognize quality construction in all
forms of RVs.” Dean is a family man, thankful for his beautiful and
intelligent wife, Angela, and their 14-year-old son, Luke. Luke is Dean’s
work out partner, getting up with Dad at 5 a.m. to hit the gym and shows the same ambitious
approach to school. A future engineer, Luke is exhibiting the same work ethic and drive that Dean
learned from his dad. Dean stated, “To this day, I am grateful and thank God for the work values my
father instilled in me.”

Chris Isaacs, a Central Florida native who graduated from Leesburg
High School in 1996. He has a beautiful and smart seven-year-old
daughter in the second grade at The Villages Charter School. He grew
up around RVs, camping with his grandparents and making memories
around a campfire. Chris writes, “I just recently moved into the RV
industry. Most of my life, I worked in my family’s automotive paint
business. Starting as a delivery driver, I moved around the company
learning every job and was running three stores when a large paint

Crunchy Apple Salad
This old-fashioned salad is very simple, easy to make, and always a hit!
4 large apples, diced
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
½ cup mayonnaise
Combine apples, celery, raisins and walnuts in a large bowl. Add mayonnaise, toss to coat.
Cover and refrigerate until serving.

Skillet Cheesy Chicken & Rice
At the end of a busy day, one-skillet dishes are the way to go. A complete meal tucked into a
flavorful, creamy sauce.
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 ¼ pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) condensed Cream of Chicken soup
1 ½ cups water
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 10 minutes or until well browned on both sides.
Remove the chicken from the skillet. Stir the soup, water, onion powder, black pepper and rice in the skillet and heat to a boil. Reduce
the heat to low. Cover and cook for 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through the cooking time. Stir in the vegetables. Return the chicken
to the skillet. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the rice is tender.
