Spring 2016
Dear Alliance Coach Family,
Let me begin by wishing everyone a healthy and happy New Year. This is going to be a
very busy season here in Florida. The weather around the country is extremely cold and
wet, and of course we are in the sunshine state. We have been gearing up for the influx of
snowbirds and very excited to see a lot of our old friends who come to visit each year.
As in previous letters I have been keeping everybody updated on our schooling here at
Alliance in Wildwood. Our in house class will be graduating in the middle of January. We
are continuing training at ARG in Indiana. This enables our techs to be above all other
dealerships in the country.
In a couple of weeks the rally shows in Florida begin. We start off at the Tampa Super show
representing Monaco and Holiday Rambler products. We are very excited about this and
hope you all come by and say hello. As soon as we have our schedule of shows set for
Wildwood and Lake Park we will update the website. Our new 2015 parts catalog is out so
please pick up your free copy at both locations.
In the next few weeks we will be adding a new phone system at both locations to better
serve everyone. With new technology we will be able to get back to everyone faster
whether off site or in the building. We will be updating the wireless internet around the
building, especially in the campground and hopefully switching all the service writers to
Ipads to speed the check in process.
In Lake Park we are very excited to promote Jeff Plemmons to General Manager. He will
take that store to another level. If you are in South Georgia please stop by for any of your
needs and say hello to the Alliance staff there. Introduce yourself to Jeff and he would be
more than happy to show you around the building.
As I said before, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Truly Yours,
Alan Shapiro
President

Winterizing Your RV
by Mark Johnson, Delivery Manager
We at Alliance Coach are always being asked about the proper way to store or winterize
an RV. Here are some useful tips.
Engine and Chassis: Change the oil before storing the unit for any length of time. The
combustion deposits and acids that make oil “dirty” can cause damage if left lying the
system for any length of time. Much better to change the oil, get the chassis lubed, and
replace air and fuel filters so it is put away clean.
Service the generator. If possible, run it monthly at a minimum of ½ load for at least an hour.
This will eliminate any condensation on the engine and windings. Check your batteries. Top
off the water, clean the connections and charge them up. They will stay charged if the RV
is plugged into shore power in storage. Disconnect the batteries if no shore power is
available.
Check the tire pressures. Over time there will be some loss of air so make sure your tires are
at the rated pressure before storage. While the RV is stored, use the levelers to keep the
weight off the tires to prevent flat spots. Fuel tanks are better kept full—don’t leave room for
condensation. Diesel fuel will keep for several months without special attention but gasoline
requires a fuel conditioner to prevent it from breaking down and varnishing your fuel system.
Don’t forget to turn off the LP tank valve.
Exterior: Now is the time for a thorough wash and wax. Lubricate hinges and joints—
including entry steps. Interior: Replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide
detectors. Go through the pantry and make sure there are no food items that could attract
unwanted visitors. Make sure the refrigerator is turned off and keep the doors ajar to
prevent mold.
Water systems can be protected by draining completely and then blowing compressed air
through the system to force all of the water out. If you use antifreeze, make sure it doesn’t
go into your water heater. But most of our customers winterize by driving south till they hit
warm temperatures—that’s the fun and easy way to winterize.

Wildwood News
Alliance Coach was recently listed among the Top 50 Dealers in the U.S. and Canada by RV Business
Magazine. Dealers in the Top 50 are chosen for sound business practices and outstanding personal customer
service. In the 5 years since it opened our Wildwood, Florida, facility has experienced impressive growth in
both sales and service. With over 60 service bays, a state-of-the-art body and paint department, upholstery
shop, metal fabrication shop, and cabinet shop, the Wildwood location is one the largest service centers in
the southeastern U.S.
Our Wildwood team has been busy getting ready for the holidays, enjoying time with loved ones and getting
ready to kick off 2015. We are looking forward to the arrival of a great flock of “snowbirds” after the first of
January. It is always a pleasure to see our winter residents rolling in and we really appreciate how many
come to us for service and treat us like old friends. We have had a few cold snaps but most of the time it is
sunny and warm. How many places in the U.S. can you run around in shorts and sandals the weekend before
Christmas? It’s a great time to be a Floridian!
We are happy to introduce Tony Martinez who recently joined our sales
team. Tony has been involved in the RV industry since 1997. During his
career he has worked many positions in both sales and service. Starting out
as a accounting assistant and making his way up to general manager. Tony
has worked for both very large established companies and more modest
start up dealerships over the years. He is a transplant from the high desert in
California but is a Florida native at heart. Florida has been his home for 18
years. He loves the Sunshine State and is proud to call it home. Tony has a
strong work ethic and values his family above all else. He and his wife, Holly,
just celebrated their 10th anniversary. They have two children, Sophia age 9
and Troy age 7. Tony is instilling his love of the outdoors in his children. When he isn't at work you can probably
find Tony fishing on the river or back in the woods. Tony tells us, “The thing I love most about my job is being
able to help people fulfill their dreams of seeing this great country through the RV lifestyle.”
Lake Park News
Alliance Coach is pleased to introduce the new General
Manager of the Lake Park, Georgia, location—Jeff
Plemmons. Jeff says, “I am excited to have this
opportunity to help Alliance Coach of Georgia get to the
next level.” With over 25 years of experience in RV retail
management, Jeff has spent his life in the RV business, working with his dad from the time he was 12. He
stayed with the family business, eventually becoming co-owner of multiple locations with his brother. Since
then he has opened another RV business, grown it to over 50 employees, and sold it in 2010. Jeff has used
his experience and Business Management degree to serve on the board for YMCA Camp Hanes, a 400acre summer camp focused on building a character of honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, and faith in
young people.
Here at Alliance Coach in Lake Park, GA, we have been rearranging our
inventory to make it easier for you to find the exact RV to suit your needs. We also
have a great deal going on—once you purchase your new unit with us, we will
give you a discount for a one night stay at our local campground, Eagle’s Roost
RV Resort! Our service department is booming! Also, starting out the New Year, our
parts department is going to have certain items on sale every week. Yes, you
heard right. EVERY WEEK! We are looking forward to bringing in the New Year with
all of you. We hope you have a fun and very safe New Year!
Happy Birthday to one of our fine salesmen, Keith Hill (January 23rd)

Annual Kumquat
Festival®
Eastern Pasco
County's Biggest, Most Distinctive Event
January 31, 2015 • 9am-5pm
DADE'S BATTLE
Dade Battlefield Historic State Park. Date:
January 3 & 4, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
When Florida became a U.S. territory and
settlers began moving here, the Native
Americans were forced to move south. By
the 1830s, significant conflict had arisen
between Seminoles and white settlers. The
Seminole practice of giving refuge to fugitive
slaves added further cause for conflict. With
the signing of the treaty of Payne's Landing in
1832, some chiefs agreed to move to territory
west of the Mississippi River. Widespread
opposition to this treaty, led by a Seminole
chief named Osceola, resulted in the
outbreak of the Second Seminole War. In
December 1835, 108 U.S. soldiers and officers
were marching from Fort Brooke (Tampa) to
reinforce Fort King (Ocala). One hundred
miles from Fort Brooke, they were attacked
by 180 Seminole warriors. All but three of the
soldiers were killed. In 1921, the state
legislature appropriated funds for the
preservation of the battle site as a memorial.
Activities and demonstrations by re-enactors
including: period soldier, Seminole and
civilian camps, sutler trade fair, historic arts
and crafts demonstrations, full scale firing,
tree cutting and barricade building, 19th
Century games and activities for
children. Battle reenactment each day at 2
pm.
Come and enjoy the unique, quaint and family
fun of "old Florida" during the Annual Kumquat
Festival® in historic downtown Dade City - it's one
of a kind! As many as 40,000 people attend this
one day event every year, with over 400 vendors
and 40 sponsors participating, filling historic
Downtown. Visitors can enjoy all kinds of tasty
kumquat treats, from kumquat pie to kumquat
cookies, smoothies, ice cream, marmalade, and
even kumquat salsa. And some other things you
might not expect—like kumquat soap! Listen to
local entertainment, get your face painted, look
at antique cars, and shop for arts and crafts.

Kumquat Refrigerator Pie
1 baked pie crust, 9 "
1(8 oz.) Cool Whip whipped topping
2/3 cup pureed Kumquats
1 can condensed milk
1/2 cup lemon juice
Beat condensed milk and whipped topping. Add lemon juice and beat until
thickened. Add pureed kumquats, pour in pie shell and chill in refrigerator for several hours
Kumquat Upside Down Cake
Ingredients
For the cake layer:
For the fruit layer:
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 pint of kumquats (about 2 cups whole fruit),
sliced into thirds, and seeds removed.
8 tablespoons butter at room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350°
In a 10” cast iron skillet or cake pan (not a springform pan), melt the
butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Cook, while stirring with
a wooden spoon until the sugar melts and bubbles. Set aside and
allow to cool while you make the cake batter. Beat together the
butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until fluffy. Add the vanilla, then the eggs, one at a time. In a separate bowl,
sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture, alternating with the
milk until the batter is smooth. Do not over mix.
Arrange the fruit in the bottom of the skillet or pan, cut side down. Work from the outside of the pan, creating a
tight ring of fruit covering the bottom of the pan. Pour the batter on top of the fruit and spread it towards the
sides. Place in the oven and bake for 35-45 minutes until a wooden pick comes out clean. Allow the pan to
cool for 20 minutes. To flip the cake, place a plate on top of the skillet or pan. Put on your oven mitts just in
case some hot juices escape. Flip the cake over and it should pop right out.
“I was running today and I heard clapping, it was my thighs
cheering me on. I’m gonna lose weight. I’m gonna exercise
every day. I’m gonna go on a diet and stick to it…Is that
cake?”

Points to Ponder
Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?
If the cops arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent?
Why is the word abbreviation so long?
Why isn’t “palindrome” spelled the same way backwards as it is forwards?
If you yelled at your plants instead of talking to them, would they still grow but
only to be troubled and insecure?
Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations?
Isn’t it a bit unnerving that lawyers and doctors call what they do “practice”?
Who is General Failure and why is he reading my disk?
