Dear Friends,
At the onset I wish you all a very happy festive season. It's now almost time to
meet our friends and associates for the annual conference of our society at
Hyderabad. I am pleased to inform you that we have received a record number of
abstracts this year. A large number of new members have also joined us this year.
This enthusiasm towards the society is a very good sign for the future of our
society.
I look forward to the Annual conference of our society being held at Hyderabad
from 17th - 20th of December 2015. I request members to attend in large numbers
and make the conference successful. The organizing committee headed by Dr. Manas Panigrahi is
working hard to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable in the city of Charminar, Pearls and
Biryani. I am sure that we will be having a great amalgamation of scientific and cultural feast in one
of the best conference centres of our country - the Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
I welcome the members from our partner society, the Russian Society of Neurosurgeons and our
guests from CNS and AASNS to Hyderabad. I am sure that the scientific program for the conference
will be uplifted this time by their active contribution to deliver a scientific feast.
The age old axiom 'time flies' is so true, I remember standing in front of you in December 2014 for
an acceptance speech as the President Elect and here I am wishing everybody a wonderful, happy
and prosperous 2016.

Online Elections
The general elections scheduled for this year is going to take place online. The poll
notification shall have the detailed explanation in pdf sent to all eligible voters and also
uploaded on the website. Beyond that helpline (+91-9897921138) is open throughout the
polling for any problem to complete the procedure. This polling module shall be
inactivated the previous night of annual EC.

NSICON 2015 Scientific Programme Prologue
Dear All
This year scientific programme has been carved out to accommodate maximum
number of presenters in platform and poster category. The number is staggering
313. This is approximately 87 papers more than last year. This speaks volumes
about the interest of participation by the members. This also necessitates
extensive and objective evaluation increase in the presentation hours and overall
expansion of scientific programme. Simultaneously the scientific committee is
conscious of living upto the expectations of members to make the programme
most contemporary and updated. Taking these things into consideration we
have structured ten Main Topic Sessions covering variety of subjects, six special lectures by various
luminaries. These are ornamented by Presidential Oration, Presidential Lecture, IAN President
Lecture and ASSI President Lecture. We have introduced Post-Lunch Plenary sessions of 75 minutes
on 18th and 19th December to extract maximum benefit for the participants.
The traditional annual orations for this year, B Ramamurthi Oration and R G Ginde Oration, are
being delivered by Prof Ali F Krisht from USA, and Prof Andrew Kaye from Australia respectively.
Further the programme has been enriched by the paraphysiology talk on integration of
neurosciences with our day to day life by the enlightened speakers. The award papers will start the
programme of the day one of our meeting. There is award posters and MCQ award activity too. All
these indicate our intention of healthy competitive knowledge acquisition commitment of society
among the younger lot. The exhaustive and careful editing of the entire programme has been done
focusing topic based presentations for the benefit of audience.
To accommodate all this, the expanded scientific programme starts at 7.45 am daily with 45
minutes lunch break. The 15 minutes tea break in the forenoon and afternoon shall continue to be
there. The detailed programme is on the website.
This whole activity will be bracketed successful if there is large participation by the members as has
been seen in the papers submitted. I salute once again to the members for their active
participation.

Friends,
December is fast approaching and it is time for us to look forward to the annual
conference of Neurological Society of India. A time to share our academic
developments with colleagues, a time to keep abreast with the latest
developments, a time to learn new skills, a time to catch up with acquaintances, a
time to renew old friendships and make new friends – in short a time of learning
and fun! Manas Panigrahi and his colleagues have been working tirelessly to get
together a bouquet of superb academic content and fantastic social activities.
This year the Russian Society of Neurosurgeons is partnering us as the friendship
Society. A record number of abstracts have been received this year. The conference is being
hosted in the world class Hyderabad International Convention Centre – possibly one of the best
convention centres in the country. All this coupled with the salubrious climate of Hyderabad are
conducive to a fantastic conference this year and I am sure that none of you would want to miss it.
Online polling for the President Elect of the Society is on and I urge all those who have not voted so
far to exercise their privilege soon. Members who have forgotten their user ID or password may
get a fresh one from the Central Office.
An NSI delegation is going to Paris later this month for the reciprocal SNCLF friendship meeting.
The Saudi Arabia Neurosurgical Society has also invited NSI to partner them in their meeting in
Riyadh next year. NSI has also been invited to partner the CNS Section of Disorders of the Spine
and Peripheral Nerves for their Annual meeting in Orlando in March 2016. All of you are requested
to participate in large numbers. The NSI Instructional course and Foundation course in GB Pant
Hospital was a big success in August this year and the next set of courses in Mumbai in January are
receiving enthusiastic support.

GENERAL BODY MEETING 2015
NSICON 2015 will be held from 17th to 20th December 2015 at HICC
Hyderabad. During this conference the General body meeting will take place at
6.15 pm on 18th December 2015 in Hall B. All members are requested to attend
Bids for hosting NSICON 2018
Bids are invited for annual meeting of Neurological Society of India – NSICON 2018 from across all
members of NSI. The bid forms are available on NSI website for downloads. Please note that the last
date for sending the bids is 30th November 2015. Please go through the requirements in the
format available on the website and also ensure the requirements as per bye laws available
on www.neurosocietyindia.org

Bids for Symposia at NSICON 2017, Nagpur
Bids are invited to organize Symposium at the Annual Conference of the Society to be held in
Nagpur in December 2017. Please note that your bids should reach the secretariat by 30th
November 2015. Any bid reaching after the prescribed date shall not be considered. Bids should be
made on the proper forms available on the website and should reach preferably on email. Hard
copies shall also be accepted.
International Travel Fellowship Programme
Applications are invited from young members to attend the international conferences and training
programs. A sum of Rs 50,000/- will be given to 2 members per quarter.
Criteria for applicants:
1. Should be a life member of the NSI
2. Age should be less than 45 years of age or 7 years after completing MCh/DNB.
3. Should be an invited speaker or have a platform or poster presentation in a world or
continental conference of neurosciences or should be going for training not available in India.
4. Have to give an estimated total expenditure with break up and expected sources of funding.
5. Have to apply at least four months prior to the conference or training period.
6. All applications will be pooled and decided by a committee in end March, June, September and
December.
7. The deciding committee would comprise the President, President elect, Secretary & Treasurer.
8. The amount disbursed would be limited to Rs 50,000 or 50% of the airfare – whichever is less.
9. A total of 2 scholarships will be given every quarter.
10. Before disbursal the candidate has to submit his travel ticket with boarding passes and an
account of all the expenditure and various grants received.
11. A person can get the NSI grant only once in a lifetime.
12. The decision of the committee will be final.

The Executive Committee of NSI requests all regional neuro clubs/societies to register with the NSI
as being representative of neuroscientists of that region. This registration will become mandatory
to be recognized as bona fide representative club/society of that region when bidding for the
Annual Conference of NSI. If more than one regional club/society claims representative status then
a list of members who are also NSI members with their NSI membership number and signatures will

Members - Username & Password
All members (Full/Life and Associate) are eligible to obtain their Username and Password to access
their profile on the NSI website (www.neurosocietyindia.org). Since this is the only Address
Database used by all the Officials of the Society (Editor, Secretary, Treasurer, President Elect), it is in
your interest to ensure that your address and email address are accurate. All members are
requested to obtain the same by writing to [email protected]. Details on how to access
your personal profile will be mentioned in the letter sent along with the username and password. In
case of any difficulty please contact the secretary at the email address mentioned above.
This is an appeal to all members to provide their email id to the Central Office so that the
communications between the Society and the Members will be easy and paperless. You will also
benefit by being sent Email Alerts about various activities of and news about the Society. Please
cooperate by immediately applying for your username and password.
