English Language Proficiency Requirements
Mature Student Admission Requirements
English is the language of instruction at Red River College. Applicants are
responsible for a level of English proficiency that is sufficient to participate in all
aspects of College study, including lectures, practicum placements, reading, writing
and discussion.
If you are 19 years of age or older and have been out of high school for a minimum
of one year at time of application, and you do not meet the regular admission
requirements, you may apply under the Mature Student admission requirements.
Mature Student admission requirements may include specific requirements. See
your program’s admission requirements at rrc.ca/catalogue for details.
If you completed your education outside of Canada or the United States,
you must submit results of an English language proficiency assessment (ELPA)
along with your program application and proof of permanent residency. Examples of
ELPAs are CanTEST, Canadian Language Benchmark exit levels from EAL programs,
IELTS, TOEFL, etc. After meeting the College’s English language proficiency
requirements you will receive a written request to submit your international
credentials for assessment. Assessing ELPAs and international credentials usually
adds time to the admissions process, so please ensure you submit your application
