Yearbook 2013
Welcome
Congratulations to the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Class of
2013. On behalf of all of us at Honda, it was our pleasure to welcome the
competition to our Torrance campus for the second time.
For Honda, “The Power of Dreams” is our guiding philosophy. It was
inspired by the vision of our founder, Soichiro Honda. It drives our
innovation, creativity and desire to bring value to society. Honda Campus
All-Star Challenge embodies our belief in the importance of education and
our HBCUs.
The pages of this yearbook provide snapshots of the National Championship
Tournament. We hope that the pictures spark memories of the many
experiences you shared with friends, old and new. Enjoy the memento and
please accept Honda’s wishes for continued success in the near future and
beyond!

History in the Making:
The Story of the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge
In 1989, Honda joined with the
College Bowl Company to establish
the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge
(HCASC) to support the unique
mission of America’s Historically Black
Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Honda’s commitment to HBCUs and
their communities demonstrates the
belief that success is not measured only
in the cars they produce, but in the lives
they enhance.
HCASC is much more than
game of quick recall. Players learn to
respect and celebrate each individual’s
contributions to the goals of their team.
With teamwork and discipline, players
learn the value of pursuing knowledge
for its own sake.
HCASC participants contribute
thousands of hours of service within
their local communities for HBCUinitiated projects. Through these

executives at the awards banquet. Morgan State
became only the fifth institution to claim
back-to-back championships.
HCASC is
the first ever
academic
competition of
its kind...
projects, participants embody the
commitment to the community that is
core to the HCASC mission and serve
as positive role models for the next
generation of HBCU students
Nearly 100,000 HBCU students
have participated in Honda Campus
All-Star Challenge. HCASC alumni
travel the world to pursue careers in
science, medicine, media, aeronautics,
education, industry, government and
more. Program alumni give back to their
alma mater and HCASC by supporting
campus activities, mentoring students
and stepping up as ambassadors of the
Friends for Life philosophy.
As the first-ever academic
competition of its kind, HCASC stands
as an example of how Honda creates
mutually beneficial relationships with
the communities where they explore the
Power of Dreams.

Working to Give Power to Your Dreams
From start to finish, throughout the year, it takes a dedicated team of associates, staff and volunteers to present
Honda Campus All-Star Challenge. They work tirelessly to ensure that the HCASC program and the National
Championship Tournament will provide memorable experiences that you will treasure for the rest of your lives. We
celebrate their hard work here.
