The Army Community Service Mission: Army Community Service is an empowered team that provides
comprehensive, coordinated, and responsive advocacy and prevention, information and referral, outreach,

needs of wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers assigned to the Warrior Transition Battalion and their Families.

The Lane Volunteer Center is home to the Army Volunteer Corps, which is the center of volunteer
recruitment, referral, recognition, and advocacy efforts for Fort Hood. Volunteers are placed in a wide
variety of positions throughout the on and off-post communities. Through volunteer service, individuals can
learn or enhance skills, get to know the community and meet new people, build their resumes, and more.
Organizations wishing to benefit from volunteer service may register their volunteer job descriptions with
the Volunteer Center, whose staff will work to fill the positions with the right volunteers.

Army Family Action Plan (AFAP)

AFAP is your tool to voice your issues to Army leadership. It alerts them to areas of concern and allows
them the opportunity to quickly put action plans into place to work toward resolving issues. An AFAP issue
is any problem that affects the readiness and Well-Being of Fort Hood or the Army. Some issues can be
resolved locally, while some must go forth for a chance at higher level resolution.

Army Family Team Building (AFTB)

The Army Family Team Building Program is a series of 38 classes led by volunteer instructors and Subject
Matter Experts. These classes consist of information on resources, benefits, leadership, and interpersonal
skills. The goal of AFTB is to improve overall personal growth by promoting personal and Family

Oveta Culp Hobby is part of Soldier & Family Readiness Branch. Supporting Soldiers and their Families
with a safe and friendly environment. The facility offers eight meeting rooms, 6 High-speed internet
computers, fax and copy machines, a Family room, and kitchen area. This facility also houses a Kids on
Site (KOS) childcare facility and a one-stop area of resources and activities. This building is available for

Family Advocacy and Prevention (FAP)

The Family Advocacy Program focuses on spouse and child abuse prevention through education & support
programs. Programs include the following.
Reporting/Crisis Intervention Services
254-287-CARE(2273) Hotline Installation Report Point of Contact (RPOC) - Receives reports of
spouse/child abuse incidents and coordinate an emergency response for victims of family violence.
Telephone monitored by Family Advocacy Program (FAP) staff twenty-four hours per day, seven days a

The FAVAP is a specialized function within FAP that provides comprehensive assistance and liaison to and
for victims of spouse abuse, physical, emotional, neglect and domestic violence sexual assault.
Command & Troop Education
Unit Training
Required annual training for Soldiers IAW AR 608-18, Army Family Advocacy Program. Educates Soldiers
on the dynamics of spouse and child abuse; command policy; community programs; services; resources;
the identification, reporting, and referral process; and utilization of the 287-CARE Line for assistance.

Family Advocacy Specialist Program (FASP)

Provides commanders with a mechanism through which education, training, and referral procedures can be
established in their units to promote sound decision-making skills, increased knowledge on family stressors,
the prevention of family violence, and a constant information flow of rehabilitation efforts.
FAP Leadership Training
Training available for all levels of command from junior to senior, focusing upon the FAP dynamics of abuse
and strategies identified to assist Soldiers and their Families in the prevention of spouse and child abuse.
Commander Desk Side Briefing
An on-site presentation for commanders at all levels that provides an overview of the FAP; update of
program initiatives; identification of command support required; trends/status of training and treatment
mandates; prevention programs/services/resources; and review of the reporting/referral process.
Education For Professionals
Professional Training: Provided to mandated reporters (CYSS, medical and law enforcement personnel)
and community agencies on the identification, reporting and treatment of spouse and child abuse; the
referral process; available programs, services and resources; and the prevention of family violence.
Domestic Violence Awareness Training for the Workplace: Training designed to provide the civilian
workforce with an overview of the dynamics of domestic violence and how it affects the workplace. Safety
measures and available resources are identified. Classes are conducted monthly and available upon
request.
Spouse Abuse-Family Life Skills
Stress/Anger/Conflict Workshop:

6-hour workshop designed to assist participants to recognize the symptoms, cause and effects of stress,
and introduce an array of stress management techniques. The workshop focuses upon anger management/
conflict resolution strategies and techniques. Workshops are conducted the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each
month, 0900-1600 at Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center, Building 18000. Workshops
are also available to units upon request. No cost child care is available upon request. For information, call

Relationship Enrichment Program (REP):

Designed to equip couples with information, resources, strategies, and skills to identify problematic marital
stressors, recognize danger signs, improve communication, manage anger, and utilize effective conflict
resolution techniques that will promote the building and maintenance of healthy relationships. The
program is comprised of a monthly workshop conducted the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Oveta Culp
Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center, Bldg 18000. The program also offers quarterly off-post
retreats, and specialty classes. Child care is available at no cost upon request.
Safety Education
Expect Respect (Dating Violence Prevention)

An educational class for units, teens, parents, school counselors, youth service agencies, and Family
members. Topics include: Dating Rights/Responsibilities, Communicating Assertively, Jealousy, Dating
Pressures, Building Healthy Relationships, Abuse and Respect. Classes are available upon request.
McGruff “Safe House” Program

A child safety program that provides a temporary safe haven for children who find themselves in emergency
or frightening situations such as being bullied, followed, or hurt while walking; playing; or interacting in an
on-post neighborhood. Safety support is provided by trained volunteers. Volunteer training is conducted
monthly or scheduled upon request.

Save-A-Tot/Boost-A-Youth Program

A program designed to educate military parents on child car seat safety. Resource packets are distributed.
Parents engage in “hands-on” exercises with trained technicians as seats are installed. Safety checks are
administered the last Friday of each month. The service is open to all military ID cardholders by
appointment only. Classes are available upon request. Children must be present during the safety
check. Exchanges or free car seats are not issued as a part of the program.
Child Safety

Educational training presented to address child safety, internet safety, personal awareness, identification
kits, environmental safety, peer and adult support/influence, high risk behaviors, communication skills,
danger signs and exploitation. Scheduled classes are conducted. Training is also available upon request.
Support Groups & Parenting Education
Single Soldier Parent Network:

Develops communication and assistance for single Soldier parents through networking, information sharing,
and mutual support. Group meets 2nd Tuesday of each month from 1130-1300. The group is open to all
Fort Hood single parent Soldiers.
New Parent Support Program (NPSP) Ages 3 and Under

Provides in-home visitation, therapeutic support, information/referral, and resource assistance to Army
Families. NPSP attempts to reduce the likelihood of child abuse, neglect, and spouse abuse through
community education and the promotion of healthy Family functioning. Parent Training, New Parent
Support Group and Explore, Learning and Play (interactive playgroup) activities are also offered.
Common Sense Parenting: Ages 4-12

The forum is comprised of a weekly parenting education program and support group designed to introduce
parenting styles; identify/address military parenting issues, challenges and stressors that impact
relationships; understand family dynamics; develop/enhance parenting skills; discuss child management
techniques; and explore child development issues. Quarterly workshops/holiday activities offered.
Active Parenting/Teen Challenge: Ages 13-18

A six hour training and open discussion for parents and teens that meets quarterly. Parents will gain
knowledge, skills, and insight to guide teens through the turbulent periods associated with adolescence.
Teens will become aware of information, resources, and skills to assist in effectively managing the changes
and challenges of adolescence.

Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) - Bldg. 10043, Battalion Avenue across from 1st Army Division West

Provides access to support, information and services to Families of fallen Soldiers. SOS provides extended
financial counseling assistance and long term support to surviving Family members, ensuring that surviving
Families' concerns are addressed expeditiously and to the full extent of the covenant with the Army Family.
The SOS staff consists of a Program Manager, Support Coordinator, Financial Counselor, and an
Administrative Assistant.

Co-located with SOS are representatives from Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
(TAPS). TAPS is a non-profit 501(c)3 veteran’s service organization created in 1994 to provide support to
Families of anyone who has died in military service to America regardless of branch of service.

The Newcomers Employment Training Workshop (NETWORK) - Orientation targeting newly arriving
military Spouses and Family members seeking employment on Fort Hood or in the Greater Killeen Area.
This workshop is conducted at the Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, 301 Cheyenne Drive, Killeen
every Tuesday from 0815-0930 and at Bldg. 284, from 1300-1430.

The III Corps and Fort Hood Legal Assistance Office services active duty personnel
and eligible Family members in III Corps and non-divisional units, as well as all retirees
and their eligible Family members. Legal Assistance services are provided by licensed
attorneys and include almost all services rendered by civilian attorneys, except
representation in civilian court. Legal assistance attorneys will not appear in civilian courts or give advice
concerning private income producing activities. Within these limitations, the legal assistance attorneys and
staff may provide legal counseling, draft letters, draft wills and powers of attorney, provide notary service,
negotiate legal disputes with third parties, review and explain legal documents (sales contracts, leases,
court papers, etc), provide pro se assistance in limited situations, or make referrals to civilian attorneys
when appropriate.

MRT Resource Program- The MRT Resource Program is designed to aid commanders in the benefits of Resiliency

Water Slides: Two 300-foot-plus water slides curve and plunge from
the start tower down to the four-foot splash pool for thrills for the whole
families. Both attractions are open to the public.
Covered Family picnic shelters are located adjacent to the beach. The
snack bar sells refreshments and features a patio deck that overlooks
the beach area and beautiful Belton Lake. More than 300 family picnic
sites and 143 covered picnic shelters, many with barbecue grills are
scattered throughout the park.

Paintball at BLORA - BLORA is located on North Nolan Road, approximately 10 miles from East Range
Road. Access to the park is also available via Sparta Road off FM 439. For more information, call

Camp Cove, take the Labyrinth Bridge, get lost in the urban sprawl of Urban Warfare or get an adrenaline

Health Services on Fort Hood Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) The Fort Hood facility was re-designated a medical center in May 2006.
There are nearly 155,000 eligible beneficiaries in the communities
surrounding Fort Hood. “Team Darnall” as the Medical Center staff is called,
consists of 2,500 Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians, contractors, and

Emergency Services The CRDAMC’s Emergency Department provides services 24-hours daily and is staffed by board certified
emergency physicians, as well as residents who are part of the hospital’s nationally recognized Emergency
Medicine Residency Program. Patients using CRDAMC’s emergency center for non-emergency health
issues are cared for according to a triage system that prioritizes severe medical problems.
Patient Services The Clinical Operations Division (COD) is responsible for policies and operations for all outpatient medical
services. The Patient Representative Office, Information Desk, 288-8000, and the Patient Appointment
Service are three major support services operating under the COD. The Patient Representative Office is
open each business day and includes a CRDAMC representative and personnel from the 1st Cavalry
Division, and the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). They are available from 0730-1630, Monday
through Friday, to assist with concerns, complaints or compliments. The representatives can be reached at

Clinic Appointments Patient Appointment Service (PAS) has one central number, 254-288-8888. The PAS is open Monday
through Friday, 0700-1600. The Weekend Acute Care Clinic is a walk-in clinic from 0800-1000 and 13001500. The Pediatric Clinic on weekends and holidays will book its own appointments. Call 254-288-7700.

Fisher House provides a home away from home for Families of
patients at Carl R. Darnall Medical Center. The Fisher House gives
Families a clean, safe, low-cost place to stay while tending to and
supporting their loved one. Active duty, retirees and veterans who are
CRDAMC patients, as well as their Family members and significant
others are welcome to stay at Fisher House.
Fisher House is run by donations and some Combined Federal
Campaign dollars, but has none of its own funding. Donations of food,
supplies and funding are accepted at any time. The home features a
fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, large dining and living room, vast
array of books, DVDs, spiritual reading materials, computers, and
other amenities to offer a home-like environment to the Families who

Dental Service The DENTAC provides complete dental care to active-duty service members. Five modern dental clinics
are near major units. Emergency dental care is provided through Darnall Medical Center’s emergency
room. Family members may enroll in TRICARE/MetLife. Dental clinics on Fort Hood serve only service
members. Family members must select a local dentist.

The Fort Hood Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) provides high
quality, economical, medical care to animals in order to protect public
health. We also provide zoonotic disease prevention to the Fort Hood

Military Council of Catholic Women The Fort Hood Military Council of Catholic Women is dedicated to bringing women of
the community closer to the Church and Christ through prayer, fellowship, bible and
book studies, ministering to the needs of the Fort Hood community and supporting
parish programs. MCCW holds weekly meetings, beginning with the Rosary, every

Family Ministries Spirit of Fort Hood, Warrior and Family Chapel Campus The new Spirit of Fort Hood, Warrior and Family Chapel
Campus, located at 31st Street and Tank Destroyer
Boulevard, offers installation congregations more room for
worship, fellowship and religious education programs.
The Religious Education Facility and the Worship Center make up half of the new campus. Two more
buildings, the Chaplain’s Family Life Training Center and a multi-purpose activity center are slated to be
finished in the next 15 months.

Marriage 101: 1st Wednesday of the month, 0900-1530
This program provides committed couples specific communication skills and strategies to help them
understand one another and strengthen or rekindle their friendship. Completion of this course is required to
use a Fort Hood chapel for weddings.
Children-in-the-Middle: 2nd Wednesday of the month, 0900-1300
A four (4) hour program that teaches divorced or separating parents how to help their children cope with
divorce. This course, or one like it, is mandatory for all those pursuing divorce in the State of Texas.
Counseling: The FLCTC provides individual, couple, married, and family counseling to the Fort Hood
community. We are a training center focused on providing the best possible, most up to date, and
professional care in a confidential and safe environment.
