Injured Al Amer replaced by Al Tayyeb
The Bahrain national
football team has replaced Sa’ad Al Amer
with Mohammed Al
Tayyeb after suffering an injury
during a friendly match against
the national Olympic team.
National team coach Marjan
eid announced the development during a press conference
held at the Bahrain Football Association premises.
The national team played
a friendly game late evening
where Al Amer got injured.
eid recalled Al Tayyeb into
the list of final 23 players who
will be travelling to Malaysia
today as part of the national
team’s training camp. They
will play one friendly match in
Malaysia before going to Australia to play two more friendlies against Saudi Arabia and

White clinches
double

Racing Team claimed a
fantastic double in the third
round of the 2014/2015
Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship hosted by
Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
White claimed first place in
both the Super Street 6-Cylinder category as well as the Outlaw 6-Cylinder class.
A huge field of 120 participants from Bahrain, across the
GCC and the United States
competed in the event, which
was organised by BIC in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor
Federation (BMF) and Bahrain
Drag Racing Club (BDRC).
The meeting took place as
part of BIC’s National Racing
Festival, which featured plenty of other action on the race
track during the day. But at
night the drag racing was the
main draw at the circuit, and
with so much action on hand
with head-to-head battles in 10
cars classes and three motor-
bikes categories, fans were not
left disappointed.
In the Super Street 6-Cylinder category, White narrowly
defeated Bahraini Nawaf Al
Mannei in a hotly contested final. The veteran clocked a winning time of 7.561secs down
BIC’s quarter-mile drag strip,
while Al Mannei completed the
distance in 7.732secs. Bahraini
Yousif Abdulla finished third.
White then added another trophy to his collection after winning the Outlaw 6-Cylinder class.
he literally did not have to break
a sweat to secure his double, as he
received a bye in the final round.
White’s e Kanoo Racing
Team partner Khaled Mohammed also had reason to celebrate, winning the Pro Mod
category. Mohammed clocked
a dominant 3.781secs down
the eighth-mile for a fine victory, which came easier as opponent Turki Alhumadi’s car
had issues. Abdulla Alsuri was
ranked third. Victories in the
remaining cars categories were
split between the best of the
drag racing talent to come from

of the races
Bahrain and Kuwait.
Bahraini Salah Salahuddin
won the Street V8 division, beating Ali Aljowadar in a tense final
battle. Salahuddin raced down
the strip in 8.071secs, while Aljowdar finished in 8.304secs.
Abduljaleel Abdulkareem was in
third place overall.
Victorious
Adel hassan won another for
the home crowd after defeating Mohammed Ali in the final
of the Street 4 and 6 category.
hassan clocked a winning mark
of 9.674secs while Ali finished
in 10.269secs. Abdulaziz Faisal
joined them on the podium in
third place.
Bahraini Mohammed bin
hasher triumphed in the Outlaw Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD)
class. He won his final in
8.618secs, beating Abdulrahman bin hasher who clocked a
mark of 9.186secs. Mohammed
Rader was classified third.
Kuwait’s Jassim Muqahwe was then the winner in the
Super Street V8 category. He
beat Faisal Al essa in their
eighth-mile run, winning with
a 4.344secs mark as compared
to Al Essa’s 4.583secs. Abdulla
Al Shamsi was third.
Fellow-Kuwaiti
Abdulla Alsuri triumphed in the
Outlaw 10.5 class. He had a
dominant 4.331secs run in the
final, defeating the 7.725secs
of Nabeel Al Isa. Mohammed
Alotaibi finished third.
The Index 10.5 class was
claimed by hassan Jassim. he
beat Wael Saleh in the final
after Saleh had a stage foul.
Akram Rasheed was classified
in third place.
Saudi Arabia was also represented atop the podium in the
cars classes, with Muslim Al
Galaf taking first place in the
Competition 4.5 category. Al
Galaf beat Mohammed Salama
in the final run, while Jaber Almagribi claimed third overall.
There was also plenty of exciting action in the three bikes
classes.
Billiards and snooker teams shine in GCC event
The Bahrain billiards and
snooker national teams won
three silver and four bronze
medals during the 10th GCC
Billiards and 17th Snooker
Championships held in Doha.
Bahrain’s most experienced
player Abdulmonem Al Shuwaikh claimed the silver medal
in the above 40 years (Masters)
category with five GCC teams
competing in this category.
In the snooker under-21 category, Bahrain’s Talal Jassim Matar
won another silver. Four GCC
teams competed in this category.

also came second in the singles
6 red balls category where eight
GCC teams competed.
The Bahrain team of Younis Sager, hamed Dhaif and
hussain Al Aradi claimed the
bronze medal in the team’s
competition category with five
GCC taking part.
In the billiards competitions,
hussain Al Khayyat claimed
the bronze in the singles 9 balls,
while the team of Abdulla Isa
and Raed Ahmed placed third
in the doubles 9 balls category.
In the team’s category,
Bahrain national team’s Fahad Khalaf, Abdulla Isa, Ali
Abdulkarim and Fares Abdulkarim captured the bronze
in the team’s 8 balls category.

Crown Prince
hails role of
sports media
hIS Royal highness Prince
Salman bin hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First
Deputy Prime Minister, yesterday met International Sports
Press Association (AIPS) president Gianni Merlo at Gudaibiya
Palace.
During the meeting, the
Crown Prince noted the growing interest in sports journalism in Bahrain, including in
the country’s youth and sports
communities.
emphasising the importance
of building sports journalism in
Bahrain under the framework
of further developing sports
in the kingdom, he expressed
pride that Bahrain is host to the
headquarters of the secretariat
of the Congress of the Asian
Sports Press Union (ASPU).
The Crown Prince highlighted the key role that sports media plays in developing sports
and culture among the country’s youth, and forms a key
priority for Bahrain’s sports
and youth strategies.
he indicated that the increased
prominence of sports media in
the country has been achieved
by making full use of technical
developments in the media and
communication sectors.
Merlo, who is in Bahrain to
mark eighth Arab Journalists
Day, in turn expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the
opportunity to meet the Crown
Prince.
Merlo praised Bahrain’s interest in sports media and its
efforts to expand the reach of
sports media within the kingdom and beyond.
The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin hamad Al Khalifa,
son of the Crown Prince, Minister of Information Affairs Isa
bin Abdulrahman Al hammadi, and Bahraini Journalists
Association Chairman Moanes
Al Mardi.
Auto Cross
Race for off
The Bahrain
Motors Federation (BMF) will organise an
Auto Cross Race next Friday
from 3pm to 8pm to be held at
the back area of Information
Authority Affairs.
The race aims to create a
fair competitive atmosphere
between racers and auto cross
lovers, and to give an opportunity for all who wish to participate in this event for all levels.
The second aim of this event is
to create traffic awareness, as the
site will deploy many paintings
of various traffic and advertising
awareness, which matches with
the FIA directives which aim for
safety on the road.
The BMF urged all participants to comply with laws and
regulations in motorsport. A delegation from BMF will visit the
site which has been allocated for
the race to make sure all technical
matters related are completed.
