Every athlete and coach must register online through BC Wrestling. GO TO
www.bcwrestling.com. LOG IN to your on-line account. CLICK Event Reg from your
membership acct. SELECT only athletes entering by clicking in box by their name &
ENTER their Wt. Class. DOWNLOAD. Open to review & SAVE IT onto your computer.

Weigh-in, at Cowichan Secondary School Quamichan Campus gym.
Wrestlers will have 1 hr to make weight (after their first weigh-in
attempt), up to the final deadline of 7 pm.
A wrestler unable to participate at the Island Championships but hoping to
wrestle at the BC's can be petitioned by his/her coach at the Island AGM
for consideration under the condition that the reason is medical or
unavoidable family or school issues. The wrestler should preferably be in
attendance at the Islands and the school must pay the entry fee for that
wrestler. If unclear a coach should contact Island Zone Rep Andrew Tuck
in advance.

expected to have at least one representative attend the Island AGM if
at all possible.

Note: There will be a concession at the venue for athletes and spectators. There
will also be a room with food available for coaches and officials.

ELIGIBILITY:
All competing schools must be members of BC School Sports and have declared
for Boys and/or Girls Wrestling. All individual wrestlers must be a member of a
registered school team or an approved alternative school and have been
submitted to BC School Sports on a player eligibility form either by the January,
2015 deadline or by the final add on deadline of January 26, 2015. Only
wrestlers in grades 8-12 who have been cleared for eligibility by BC School Sports
are eligible. For further details consult the BC School Sports policies on their
website at www.bcschoolsports.ca. All wrestlers and coaches must also be
registered with BCWA and in good standing before the tournament begins.
Tournament registration fee is $25.00 per athlete (cheques can be made
payable to Cowichan Valley Wrestling Club). Each school must pay their yearly
Island fee of $35 per school, which is payable to ‘Vancouver Island
Wrestling’. Please make a separate cheque for your wrestler's registration
cheque.
WEIGHT CLASSES:
All wrestlers must weigh-in wearing a singlet and they will be given a .2 kg
allowance. A skin check will be performed at weigh in and a qualified professional
will determine whether identified skin conditions are admissible. Unhealthy
weight loss techniques such as wearing plastics will result in disqualification. All
wrestlers must have both a red and a blue singlet or a reversible and must
compete in a singlet at the Island Championships.
BOYS: 38, 41, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 74, 78, 84, 90, 110, 110-130
GIRLS: 40, 43, 47, 51, 54, 57, 60, 64, 69, 75, 90, 90-110
Note:
130 kg is the max for boys and 110 kg is the max for girls. The min for
boys is 35 kg and 36 kg for girls. You MUST NOT weigh less than the
weight class below you.
Singlets and wrestling boots or clean running shoes must be worn. Wrestlers are
required to carry a paper or cloth handkerchief during their match, and only clear
fluids are allowed in their corner. Make sure facial hair is trimmed and fingernails
clipped before the weigh-in.
AWARDS:
The top three wrestlers in each weight class will receive a medal. The top 5 boys
and top 6 girls from each division will qualify to wrestle at the Provincials. The
top six in each division will earn points for their team. Top three teams for boys
and girls will receive a team trophy, and a most outstanding male and female will
be acknowledged.
