1.
Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 83 series of 2011, entitled “Disaster Preparedness
Measures for Schools,” The Department of Education Region XII in partnership with Save
the Children shall conduct a Comprehensive School Safety (CSS) Training of Trainers
on June 15-17 (1st Batch) and June 18-20, 2015 (2nd Batch) at Tierra Montana Hotel,
General Santos City.

CSS provides a comprehensive approach to reducing risks from all hazards to the
education sector at the national, regional, district, and local school site levels. CSS rests on
three pillars: (1) Safe Learning Facilities; (2) School Disaster Management; and (3) Risk
Reduction and Resilience Education.

The objectives are as follows:
3.a. Organize and train a team of regional trainers on Comprehensive
School
Safety;
3.b Equip the schools with sufficient knowledge in improving practices aligned to
disaster management;
3.c Increase capacity in disaster preparedness and response;
3.d Strengthen skills in protecting learners from death, injury and harm in schools;
and
3.e Strengthen capacity in risk reduction and resilience through education.

Participants to the workshop are two (2) DRR focal personnel each from the SDOs of
Sarangani, South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat, and one (1) DRR focal person of the
recipient schools that are covered by Save the Children. Attached are Enclosures 1 and 2:
List of recipients schools by batch and Indicative Schedule of Activities, for reference.

Further, the identified teacher participants are directed to conduct make-up classes
upon return to school to cover the required 180 days non-negotiable teaching and learning.
As evidence, a self-certification of the teacher duly signed by the School Head and Schools
Division Superintendent must be submitted to the Office of the Regional Director or email
through [email protected] .
