NASMGA Match Play
Golf News
The summer is heating up along with the competition on the course,
as August kicks off with our division leading BridgeMill
NASMGA golfers hosting Indian Hills CC on the 4th. The Towne Lake Hills
Championship will be conducted the weekend of the 6th & 7th with
separate divisions for Men, Senior Men and Ladies during this two day
individual stroke play tournament. The ROMEOS will gather on the 11th
for a day of inspired golf followed by a fun night out on the town with
dinner and a little story telling mixed in. The LGA Saturday Play Day for
August will tee off on the 13th, and will feature a player friendly Par 3 format
for all to enjoy. The MGA host their final major tournament of the year,
the "MGA Shootout" on the 20th & 21st, with the format being an
individual two day flighted stroke play competition. Our flight winners will
then showcase their skills for all to see in the always entertaining shootout
to determine our overall champion.
Our golf course is presenting some of the finest playing
conditions experienced in years., and we appreciate your cooperation in
keeping the course looking as good or better than you find it during your
round. Please continue to exhibit proper etiquette in repairing all ball
marks properly, sanding lots of divots along the way and smoothing
bunkers throughout the day. Also, please make sure to follow all
directional signage, avoid newly sodded areas and keep clear of
all stressed turf patches.
Book your tee time to get out and enjoy this beautiful course. There are
many ways to reserve your spot, call the Golf Shop 770-345-5500 ext. 1,

BridgeMill Golf Academy
“Our
Goal is to Help You Enjoy Your Golf More”
Tips From The Pro
Aim The Club Face First
I see way too many golfers trying to aim their body first when setting
up to the golf ball instead of aiming the club face first and then orienting their body to the club. Not only is it more difficult to aim your body
than the clubface it also tends to put too much attention on what your
body is doing during the swing. This is called internal focus. Internal
focus is fine when practicing and working on technique or maybe a
swing change, but when you are playing, your attention should be on
what you want the ball and club to do. This is called external focus.
Research has shown that using external focus when playing allows the
player to perform at a much higher level. I actually try to mostly use
external focus cues when teaching as well as the brain and body tend
to self-organize better when focusing on an external cue versus an internal one. An example of this would be when you brush your teeth
you pay attention to the toothbrush being applied to your teeth versus
what your hand is doing.
So just like Harvey Penick said so many years ago “Take dead aim and
aim the club face first.”
TrackMan
\
The Truth Teller
One of the best things about using the TrackMan technology is that it
measures exactly what the club is doing through impact. Therefore it is
extremely easy to see what your tendencies are in making the ball go
where it goes and then to make minor adjustments to become more
consistent. So instead of just looking at video or listening to your
friends now you will know exactly what is happening and exactly how
to improve it. I promise you will have a better understanding of your
swing and how to make it more consistent after just a brief encounter
with “The Truth Teller”. TrackMan and BioSwing Dynamics is an
unbeatable combination to game improvement. I would be pleased to
show you how!
Golf Instruction
~ Open to All ~
While Golf Members do enjoy
special instruction pricing and
privileges, the BridgeMill Golf
Academy is open to the public as
well. If you want to play better,
please come see us. We will help
you!
Nike & Ping
The new Nike and Ping clubs are
really good and we have a brand
new fitting system as well.
Combine this with being able to
see the golf ball and measure
with TrackMan and now your new
clubs might really help you play
better! We have two outstanding
clubfitters in Tom Losinger and
Chad Phillips.
BioSwingDynamics is a system of measurements and tests that
identify the best way for each individual to swing the golf club.
Developed by 2016 PGA National Teacher of the Year, Mike Adams, it
is truly revolutionary and makes it way easier to be consistent and hit
the ball further as well.

2016 Junior Academy Golf Program
The summer seems to have flown by us! Both summer camps were a hit with the juniors with many return campers
and several new faces. Now that school is starting up, take the time to sign your junior up for the Fall Junior Golf
Academy, beginning August 22nd for either Monday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Friday. Limited space is available, so
please email [email protected] to sign up.
The series of tournaments, called the McGrory Cup is well underway and going great. This is a series of tournaments
especially for juniors. They earn points for play and more for placing in the top 3 at each event. Champions are announced at the end of the year dinner in December. The McGrory Champion is a coveted title every year. Thank
you Molly McGrory of RE/MAX Town & Country for your continued support of the community and junior golf.
The PGA Junior League regular season has concluded. Both BridgeMill teams had fantastic seasons. Several juniors
from each team will advance to play in the PGA Junior League All-Stars. Best of luck for the remainder of the season.
Thank you to Jenn Goddard of RE/MAX Town & Country for being our title sponsor for the inaugural Killeen Classic.
The tournament will help deserving juniors in the Cherokee County area play tournament golf. Also, thank you to
Shellie Hollingsworth of Hugely, Hollingsworth Real Estate Partners, the Butcher and Bottle, Maine Lobster, and the
other sponsors of this great event.

Rules Corner Answer
Yes! The "putting green" is all ground of the hole being played that is specially prepared
for putting or otherwise defined as such by the Committee. A ball is on the putting
green when any part of it touches the putting green.

LGA News
It may be hot, but the ladies at BridgeMill are still playing golf and having a great time! If you are new to our
neighborhood or club we would love to have you play a round with us. We have two sets of tee times on Tuesday
mornings and Wednesday morning and evening. Just let the club know you are not a member but are interested in
our LGA; we would be happy to have you join us and see what our club is about.
Thursday June 8th was our monthly Girls Night Out program with our guest speaker Dave Burke from the Georgia
State Golf Association. There is a photo below of Dave and his wife, Kelly, with Becky Royer who was instrumental in
getting Dave to speak to our club. Dave had a slideshow featuring Kelly at different holes with common golf predicaments at BridgeMill which was quite enjoyable. All the ladies that attended had a great time and some even won
some money!! Yes, we have a drawing at each GNO to split the pot. Photos below, including our June winner Pam
Yagoda!
Saturday, June 18th was the LGA/Junior golf tournament organized by Kelly Cook. The format was “Roll Call” in
which only one ball was played by all four golfers. The 1st Place team was Pat Bauer, Pam Yagoda, Hunter Clay
and Price Hollingsworth. The 2nd Place team was Jenn Goddard, Vickie Baranowski, Harry Smith and
Noah York. The closest to the pin awards went to Kelly Cook, John Marshall, Char Bailey and Price Hollingsworth.
Photos of the first and second place teams and the closest to the pin winners are below. What a great day! It would
be fun to make this an annual event!! This tournament was sponsored by Molly McGrory of ReMax Town and Country
Realty.
Monday, July 4th was the very hot and aptly named Firecracker tournament. There was a pairing party on Sunday
to match the teams with A B C D handicaps then everyone headed out on Monday morning for what turned out to be
a long, hot round!! Fortunately, Chef Elliot had a great lunch of grilled hotdogs and hamburgers ready for this very
hungry crowd. LGA members Jan Small and Pat Bauer were on the second place team and Kelly Cook and
Nancy Gillenwater were on the third place team. Nancy took the closest to the pin award for hole #12 and Char
Bailey was closest to the pin on hole #16 – way to go ladies! 3 of the ladies are pictured below (Jan, Pat and Arlene)
and the rest of the photos from this event are on our website: www.mbaclga.com then click the link for gallery. The
website also has a link to our participation form. There is a list of the board of officers and you can contact any of us
for more info regarding upcoming events and current tee times for LGA members.

Our Junior Program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of junior
players 5 years of age and up; from recreational to advanced tournament
players. The goal of our program is to instill in our youth a love for the game
of tennis. We strive to develop self-motivated young people who want to
practice and then practice some more. We encourage and foster a healthy,
active lifestyle that they can carry with them throughout their lives. Our
teaching professionals have a passion for the game of tennis and are here to
ignite this passion in your child!
The program is divided into different categories based on ability/age and
focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental
toughness at an age/skill level manner.
Excel Future Stars: 5 – 10 years
Juniors with little or no tennis experience will learn the fundamentals of tennis
including basic stroke technique using age appropriate balls and equipment to
help them succeed quickly. Groups are separated by age and are held during
after school hours. The class schedule is available in the Tennis Pro Shop.
Red ball groups: for 5 to 7 year old beginners using the red dot ball to train.
Classes will begin the week of September 26th. Groups meet for 45 minutes
per session.
Orange ball groups: for 8 to 10 year old beginner and intermediate players
using the orange dot ball to train. Classes will begin the week of August 15th.
Groups will be divided by ability level and meet 1 hour per session.
Excel Academy: 8 – 17 years
These groups are for juniors with some experience up to advanced players
and are divided by ability level and age within each category. Players should
have a desire to reach the next level of their game. All groups include high
intensity tennis drills focusing on proper strokes, footwork, fitness, strategy
and mental toughness. Students work and train hard but also have fun!
These groups are held throughout the school year. Fall sessions begin the
week of August 15th
Green ball group: for beginner to intermediate players that are 12 years old
and younger using the green dot ball to train. Groups will start the week of
August 15th and held on Monday and/or Wednesday from 5:00-6:30.
Regular ball group: (middle school – high school) includes our advanced
tournament group which is for players that are playing tournaments. Players
that are training for their high school tennis teams also meet at this time.
Players are separated by ability level. Begins the week of August 15th and
held on Tuesday and/or Thursday from 5:00-6:30.

BridgeMill Sixes Service League
This Summer has been a success for The BSSL thanks to Susan Gaines, Linda Emore and Judy West who led
another successful year of our Summer Lunch program and to Caroline Zipkin and Lynn Weimer who led our
efforts in The Give A Kid A Chance program. We appreciate their continued dedication and leadership in the
community. Our BSSL members and event chairs will be busy the next few months as we prepare for our Golf
FORE Charity Tournament, our Food Drive to benefit MUST Ministries, and our holiday caroling event.
Members will also enjoy the social aspect of our Bunco, book clubs and ladies dining out groups. You are
invited to attend the BSSL’s next business meeting on Thursday, August 18th at 7:00pm at The Terrace. Our
guest speaker will be Lisa Reidy, a teacher at Oak Grove Elementary School in Woodstock. Lisa has begun a
Summer Reading Program for students in the area. For many of these students, English is a second
language. Find out how you can support Lisa in this most worthy cause. If you would like to find out what
The BSSL is all about, attending a monthly meeting is a good opportunity! Not only do our meetings allow us
to discuss our plans for future events and to host interesting speakers from various parts of the community,
but our meetings also give us the opportunity to socialize and meet new friends! If you are unable to attend
a meeting then you can always come to one of our events to observe or volunteer. For more information
