When James McQuillan was fired in the semi-final of
BBC1’s The Apprentice, there wasn’t a dry eye in the
house. His final words before Sir Alan pointed that
famous finger at him were, “You don’t have to reinvent the wheel with me, you just need to fix a
couple of spokes”. His sense of humour may well have
been his downfall, but he kept viewers entertained
though out the entire fifth series. Whilst his fellow
candidates were displaying uncomfortably high levels
of aggression and testosterone, James’ down to earth
attitude won viewers over. After The Apprentice, as
well as giving motivational talks and pursuing his
successful telecoms career, James is the resident
match-day host at Kempton Park Race track, and is
also a spokesman for Macmillan Cancer Support and
the National Childbirth Trust.
James says “The fastest I have ever moved is when the

myself way beyond my personal limits by taking part in

Sophie took part in the reality TV show Big Brother in
2009. She went into the house and very quickly won
over the hearts of the British public. Since leaving the
show, glamour model Sophie has up and moved from
her small town in Nantwich to the big city of London
and has been finding her feet. Now living only a few
doors down from JLS Sophie’s life has urned upside
down with her diary filling up with various TV
appearances, magazine interviews and shoots including
New Magazine and Star, charity events along with
touring the UK clubs and universities doing personal
appearances.
During Sophie’s time in the Big Brother house, the
women’s magazines closely documented her weight as
she publically went from a size 0, to a size 12. Off the
back of this she was asked to front the campaign
against skinny models at the London Fashion Week
event backing girls with curves. As soon as Sophie left
the house she was snapped up by Nuts, the UK’s
leading lad’s magazine, and she signed a contract
which has placed her on the front cover for numerous
releases. She later represented Ann Summers by
showing off their new bigger busted range and opened
a store in London which pulled in quite a crowd! Back
in November she filmed for the Channel 5 show
‘Celebrity Events of 2009’ which aired on Christmas
day and she is currently filming for an Endemol
production which will TX end of February.

Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a rare form of cancer, he was

Tegla
Loroupe

Few athletic champions can put the honing of their
talent and skill down to their morning school run.
However, for Tegla Loroupe, the first African woman
to win the New York City Marathon and consequent
marathons across the globe, this was indeed the case.
Each morning, from the age of seven, Tegla would run
10km to and from school, although it was only during
school hours that she became aware of her sporting
potential. At first Tegla was widely unsupported, with
the Kenyan Athletics Federation feeling she was too
small and thin. However in 1988, everything changed,
when Tegla won a prestigious barefoot cross country
race. Having proved her doubters wrong, she began to
carve a career which has cemented her place as one of
the world’s most iconic sporting figures.
The combination of philanthropy with athletics is made
seamless by Tegla, who has dedicated her life to using
her skill and platform to propel a greater cause. In
2003 Tegla created a series of ‘Peace Marathons’
sponsored by her own Peace Foundation.
This passion for making a difference has been
recognised, with Kofi Annan making Tegla a UN
Ambassador of Spirit in 2006. She was later honoured
as the International Sports Ambassador for the
International Association of Athletics Federation. The
following year Tegla was made the Ambassador of
Sport and Peace in Darfur.
