MILK FEST 2015
F U L L F AT F E S T I V A L
In celebration of all the good things in life, we hope you’ll enjoy our fourday festival over the August bank holiday weekend. Launching on Friday
28 August and carrying on all the way through to Monday 31 August, we
can promise a feast of fun for the whole family.
We’ve put together a programme that showcases the cream of Kent,
with music from the best local bands and fabulous food and drink from
our favourite suppliers.
We’ve even crafted a brand new cask-conditioned bitter to mark the
occasion, with some help from our friends at the Old Dairy Brewery.
This ‘Full Fat Festival Top’ will be on draught all weekend at just a wee
£3 a pint, so make sure you sample a glass… and then maybe another!
We can’t wait to welcome friends old and new to the pub for a party in
true Sissinghurst style!

MILK FEST 2015
FRIDAY 28 AUGUST
PICCOLO PIZZA & TWILIGHT TUNES
Milk Fest kicks off at 6pm on FRIDAY night with some very special
‘piccolo’ pizza portions – bite-sized samples from our classic selection,
from the Plucky Hen to the Happy Piggy. You can then choose an Italian
drink to pair with your choices – Peroni, Prosecco, Pinot Grigio or
Pelligrino…. As the sun sets over the Terrace, there’ll be music from
singer/songwriter Tom Harvey, followed by some rollicking blues from
The Black Sheep trio. A perfect start to your long weekend!
SATURDAY 29 AUGUST
F A M I LY B B Q & B I G T O P
Roll up, roll up on SATURDAY with the whole family – because the big
top’s coming to Sissinghurst! The circus swings into town at 1pm, with
acrobatics, stilt walking, juggling and more. Not your thing? Well don’t
worry – we’ve got plenty of alternative entertainment lined up, including
a bouncy castle, face painting and DIY sundaes before settling the kids
down for a movie and popcorn on comfy cushions in the bar.
If that all leaves you feeling peckish, tuck into chargrilled treats from the
full-fat festival BBQ, which will take centre stage on the Terrace from
midday to 9pm. There’ll be a feast for the ears, too, with the mellow
acoustics of Sam Easton, Jemima & Will and Freddy Green, before The
Hotelles rock us into the evening!

An alternative indie band you’ll want to dance to
The Hotelles are an alternative three piece from South East London, formed of
brothers Tom (23), Ben (21) and Sam (16).Their self-deprecating, closely harmonized
and hook-laden tracks recall The Strokes, The Libertines and The Everly Brothers.
Lyricist Tom draws upon both suburban characters and personal experiences in the
vain of Ray Davies and Jarvis Cocker. This sound is offset by Tom’s gritty guitar, Sam’s
intricate drum riffs and Ben’s soul ridden bass lines.
The band are well known around London for their vibrant, dynamic and slick live shows
displaying a heart-on-sleeve ethos and electric aura. Last year the band produced their
own vinyl and they’ve recently performed at Unsigned London. They are currently
creating a brand new catalogue of tunes to be released later this summer.

GIBBET OAK
Gibbet Oak Cider was born out of a love of quality Kentish produce, grown on the
Nightingale family fruit farm just outside Tenterden in the picturesque High Weald. A 3rd
generation farming family, the Nightingales have been growing fruit for over 60 years. Inspired
by the tales of his father’s experiments with cider, Sam wanted to create the genuine article:
a crisp, authentic and, most importantly, tasty cider made from home grown fruit.
All Gibbet Oak’s ciders and perry are made from 100% fruit juice, carefully hand picked
from apples and pears on the farm, each variety chosen for it’s unique flavour and quality.
These ciders are then fermented, matured, and lovingly blended, before being bottled on the
farm. Gibbet Oak pride themselves on being part of the growing Kentish cider community,
they aim to be true to their roots, but with a unique stamp and style.

TURNERS CIDER
Turners Cider is a family business based in Marden. The artisan producers make a range
of craft ciders that are available for wholesale to pubs, shops, festivals and events across
Kent, London and the South East. They also sell cider nationally, and have even been
known to ship it as far afield as Russia.
All Turner Cider apples are grown in and around the village, in the orchards on the
south-facing ridge below the Greensand Way and in the flood basin of the River Beult.
The area is at the centre of the UK apple industry and so they are able to source
high quality fruit that often travels no more than a few hundred yards from tree to
fermenting vat.

KENTISH PIP
Kentish Pip are passionate about flavour and quality. They plant and grow their own
special selection of dessert and cider apples and carry out all of the fermentation and
blending themselves at Woolton Farm in Bekesbourne. What started out as a hobby in
the farmhouse kitchen, has grown into an exciting cider range across the UK. But the
time, love and enthusiasm they pour into every batch has stayed the same.
Kentish Pip take great care and pride in their cidermaking and are discerning when it
comes to taste. Kentish Pip cider is full of fresh flavour, as each small batch is blended
by hand, then tasted and tweaked for a light, fruity finish. The unique Kentish character
comes from using a mixture of farm-grown, freshly picked dessert and cider apples.

OLD DAIRY BREWERY
The Old Dairy Brewery is nestled deep in the heart of the ‘Garden of England’ just
moments from the High Street in the picturesque market town of Tenterden in Kent.
With glorious views over rolling countryside, the brewery is housed in two old World

converted into a new 30 barrel brewery, complete with shop, bar and meeting room
while the second plays host to the brewery’s offices and warehouse.
Only the finest malts and hops are used to brew Old Dairy Brewery beers, and most
of these are grown in the Garden of England. The brewery’s carefully crafted recipes are
designed to create perfectly balanced, very drinkable ales across a range of different styles.

Andy and Norman in 2011. Unlike many distillers, their life-long science background in

Anno Distillers source a secret blend of local hops, lavender from the award-winning
national lavender collection at the Downderry Nursery, and flowers including elderflower
and rose hips, together with a very unique ingredient – Samphire from the historic
Romney Marsh. They carefully marry these Kentish flavours with citrus elements along
with some traditional botanicals such as juniper, coriander, cassia, angelica and liquorice.
