THE NUART FESTIVAL
Nuart is one of the world’s foremost international street art
festivals with a focus exclusively on Street Art since 2006. The
Festival is based in Stavanger on the West Coast of Norway.
Stavanger alongside London, Sao Paulo, Berlin and New York
is regarded as a key city to visit for world class Street Art.
Each September an invited international team of street artists
start to leave their mark on the city’s walls, both indoor and
out, creating one of Europe’s most dynamic and constantly
evolving public art events.
Stavanger is host to numerous public art works from
some of the worlds leading names, names now commonly
associated with such renowned institutions as The Museum
of Contemporary Art , Los Angeles, Tate Modern, London and
The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
A stroll around the city centre will expose you to works from
artists such as Swoon (USA), Evol (DE), Logan Hicks (USA),
David Choe (USA), Blek Le Rat (FR), Nick Walker (UK) and
many more. Whilst a short trip along Pedersgate to Tou Scene
will enable you to really experience the full force of Nuart and
this dynamic new movements form of public expression.

NUART STREET WORKS
These map references show selected works produced as part
of the Nuart Festival between the years 2006 and 2011. This
is by no means an in-exhaustive survey of the public art that
Nuart have been responsible for placing on the city streets
but is rather a guide to specific artworks and areas of interest.
Keep your eyes open and you’ll no doubt stumble upon
numerous other works during your tour. These tours offer
locals and visitors to Stavanger an opportunity to get off the
beaten track and explore the more hidden areas of interest in
and around central Stavanger.

STAVANGER EAST
DOWNTOWN STAVANGER
Nuart works are predominantly found in and around the area
known as Østre Bydel (Stavanger East), previously one of
Stavanger’s main industrial regions. Housing workers and
factories the area offers the best opportunity to secure what
Nuart usually requires the most, BIG WALLS. The area is
undergoing rapid development and is fast becoming the heart
of the regions dynamic independent cultural life. Café’s, a newly
landscaped shoreline, several parks and Stavanger’s main
alternative arts centre Tou Scene are all situated in the area.
Combine the viewing of Street Art with other activities in
the heart of Central Stavanger’s shopping district. Hidden
down alleyways and side streets you’ll find numerous
unique artworks from some of the worlds leading Street
Artists such as Swoon (US), David Choe (US), Skewville
(US), Logan Hicks (US), Dotmasters (UK), Dolk (NO) and
many others.

LANDMARK TOUR
The works marked in red are part of an official Nuart “tour”. Starting at the beginning of Pedersgate
the tour takes approximately 1 hour to complete. The “Landmark Tour” was produced for Nuart 2010
to celebrate ten years of Nuart, 10 years, 10 artists, 10 walls. We’d advice using this route as a main
tour whilst stopping off at Tou Scene to explore the many other works in and around this area.
Images marked with a star can be found in and
around the building complex at Tou Scene arts
centre. A 10-15 minute walk from the city centre.
situated along the coast approximately 40km from
Stavanger.
