Presenter: Master Gardener Bill Gaylord
Frank has been involved with
bonsai and Japanese gardening
since his teenage years in
Brooklyn, New York. He studied
under the Bonsai Collection
curators of the New York and
Brooklyn Botanic Gardens
(Frank Okimora, Yuji Yoshimora,
and Kazuwa Fuji) from 1988 to
1995. In 1996 he and his family
moved to Seabeck to study
with his current teacher and
close friend Dan Robinson, designer and owner of the
Elandan Gardens in Port Orchard.
Bring both to a unique demonstration. Bill is
back by popular demand. He will share tips and
techniques for sharpening your own garden tools.
Tool sharpening by donation, will be available on the
premises. You can watch/ask questions, or drop off
starting at 12:30 PM and pick up at the end.

Presenter: Jessi Bloom, CPH,
ECP, N.W. Bloom, EcoLogical
Landscapes
Jessi is a Puget Sound native
and comes from a strong
background of horticulture
and environmental sciences.
Her early experience ranged in project management,
from organizing restoration projects with community
volunteers, to high-end residential and commercial
landscape design/build. In early 2000, she decided
to start a business in the green industry to fill a
niche for organic and ecological landscaping. Her
leadership combined with her artistic design talents
have brought N.W. Bloom numerous environmental
awards. She is passionate about
animals, permaculture and making
functional gardens beautiful.
Jessi recently released her new
book, “Practical Permaculture for
home landscapes, your community
and the whole earth.”

“Tomatoes From Seed To Sauce”

know to raise delicious,
juicy tomatoes here on
the maritime Kitsap peninsula! We’ll cover it all –
types of tomatoes, how to start them from seed, best
ways to nurture them in your garden, how to cope
with pests and diseases, how to handle your harvest
(be it red or green), and finally how to save seeds for
next year.
Sharon will share some of her favorite recipes. If you
have a favorite recipe, bring it along!

In this lecture and hands on class, you will be able to
get up close and personal with
fully mature specimen trees
shrunk down to tabletop scale.
The lessons on how to prune
for shape and fruiting can be
illustrated by actually picking up
a pair of scissors and pruning a
branch.
