WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK
EVERYONE for coming to the
Small Animal Show April 29,
2015, which was put on by the
Gunnison Valley Cattlewomen and
the FFA Chapter. We are all very
fortunate to have such cooperation between two Ag related
groups. It’s so important to
explain how important the animals
are in our everyday lives. The children enjoyed seeing all the different animals. This year we heard
from teachers and parents alike
because the students too the time
to visit, and explain what their animal could do for the food chain,
or the reason we use this animal.
Some people forget why we have
animals. This year we were honored to have Sherry Redden spinning angora fur into yarn. Shelby
Rundell talked about the cattle
industry in the Gunnison Country.
Thank you all for coming and visiting with us. Thank you again, The
Gunnison Valley Cattlewomen,
LaDonna McLain and Anne
Bertschy, Steven Jackson FFA
Chapter. (5/20).

The Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancy District and the Gunnison River
Festival will indulge your inner gambler, in a contest to see who can most accurately
predict both the time and flow rate that the Gunnison River, at the gaging station
“Near Gunnison” will register the peak flow for this year’s snowmelt runoff.
Access to the USGS site for the “Gunnison River near Gunnison” gauging station is
at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?09114500. The key data in determining a
winner will be the table showing the Date/Time and Discharge in cubic feet per
second at that site, which is updated by the USGS - Grand Junction office every 15
minutes. The winning entries in the contest will be the person who comes closest
to estimating the quarter-hour of the day when that graph reaches its highest point
and the closest to actual flow (discharge).
Deadline for entering this contest is May 22, 2015 5PM. Guesstimates for the runoff
peak should be emailed to [email protected]. Hurry and get your entry in!
