Over the last several months, we have been super busy celebrating our fantastic sorority by engaging in the community and sharing our beloved sisterhood with all who participate!
August 29: We were called out for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by sister Suzy McCormick Shealy! We answered the challenge and donated
nearly $200 to the ALS Foundation.
September 16: What a better way to celebrate International Women’s Friendship Month than by having a cookout with your sisters? We gathered, ate, laughed and enjoyed each other’s company. We also supported a local organization that cares for battered/abused women and children, Sistercare, by collecting new/gently used pocketbooks. We ended up donating 108 purses!
September 29: Alumnae Chapter members attended a Beta Zeta chapter meeting to hear David Stollman, president of Campusspeak, address
the chapter. He spoke about making women better women, fellowship, leadership, academics, service and morality—this was defined by remembering the oath we all take when we join a sorority. He encouraged the chapter to be a role model, make a difference or take your letters
off!
October 5: Alumnae Chapter members attended Beta Zeta initiation where we welcomed 131 new members into our circle—several of which
are daughters of current AC members!
October 6-11: Shamrock is one of Kappa Delta’s biggest philanthropy events and we helped BZ in making it a huge success! AC members dined
at Village Idiot Pizzaria where part of proceeds from sales went to Shamrock fundraising efforts. Donations were given to the bake sale and the
silent auction at the Parent’s Cocktail. In all, BZ raised approximately $36,000 for Children’s Trust of SC and Child Abuse America.
October 23: What a truly amazing experience to celebrate our sisterhood with residents at Still Hopes who call Kappa Delta home as well. We
celebrate with wine, champagne and snacks as we reminisced on KΔ days, songs and ritual.

Notes from SC Midlands Kappa Delta Alumnae
Chapter President...
Sisterhood
On September 16, KΔ’s sisters came together for a fun night of friendship and
food, with the theme “Go Confidently!” collecting 108 pocketbooks for Sistercare
Inc.! Having fellowship with sisters from different chapters and ages from 22 to 81
was just amazing!
On September 29, several alumnae attended the Beta Zeta Chapter meeting, impressed to see 400 sisters come together (quickly and quietly) for a meaningful
presentation on sisterhood in college.
On October 23, sisters again came together at Still Hopes for the celebration of
Kappa Delta Founder’s Day. Attended by a current Beta Zeta chapter member and
our distinguished AC members emeritus and Midlands, SC AC members, for an afternoon of singing and learning that even 80+ year olds love to be apart of Kappa
Delta.
This past month has been on of the most inspiring months in KΔ for me. I have
had the privilege to watch sisterhood in action on so many levels and with so many
ages. I have come to appreciate my friends, old and new, in this AC so much more!
