POISE TM- I: Evaluation of Instruction by Department and
Division Heads

Pre-conference---Poiser and Department Head meet to:
o review philosophy and congruency statement
o review the “Four Dimensions of Good Teaching (FDGT)”
o plan for the first observation; Poiser completes Nos. 1-3 on an “O”
worksheet
Observation of Classroom Instruction (total of 5)
o Department Head observes and completes a “FDGT Observation
Worksheet” after the observation.
o Department Head gives immediate, brief, positive feedback (either in
person, writing or email) after the observation.
o Poiser completes No. 4 on the “O” worksheet after the observation. Poiser
then completes Nos. 1-3 on another “O” worksheet and sends it to the
Department Head to review before the next observation. This process is
repeated for each subsequent observation.
o After all five observations have taken place, the Department Head reviews
the observation data and completes the “Four Dimensions Summary
Worksheet.”
o The Division CIT completes a “Technology Evaluation Grid, 4.2A,” and
forwards a copy to the Poiser and Department Head.
o The Division Dean completes an “Advisor Evaluation Grid, 4.2A,” and
forwards a copy to the Poiser and the Division Head.
o The Department Head writes a summary naming the Poiser’s strengths and
stating any recommendations which he/she may have as a result of the
complete performance review.
• Post-conference-Poiser and Department Head meet to review the “Four
Demensions Summary Worksheet” and the Department Head’s summary.
