BEST SUMMER EVER • SINCE 1969 Senior Campers Fourth-Sixth Grade Trailblazers Kindergarten-Third Grade It’s all action for Willoway Trailblazers! Focused on fun, Trailblazers build skills, boost self-esteem and enjoy lots of exciting activities including: archery, drama, fencing, fishing, GaGa-Ga, go-karting, volleyball, tennis, nature and soccer. Small groups and great counselor to camper ratios (1:6) help assure success. Swimming twice daily, morning Red Cross swim instruction teaches new skills and afternoon free swim reinforces them in each of our two beautiful blue pools. We teach swimming! Our new Campers’ Choice Program – offers Trailblazers daily opportunities to participate in activities of special interest – of their own choice. And, special all-camp events and activities bring the entire camp together for fun and excitement. The emphasis is on non-competitive fun, it has been our recipe for success for 40 years and counting. Senior Campers look forward to the choice, variety and fun experiences that await. Senior Campers will love the opportunity to tailor their schedules choosing from digital photography, drama, dance, challenge course, climbing wall, rugby, rocketry, nature, golf, pontooning, paddleboating, ceramics, canoeing and more. Swimming twice daily, they build new skills at morning swim and make a splash during afternoon free swim. Our Selectives Program offers a chance to focus on an activity of special interest, allowing deeper exploration of a sport, craft, or hobby of their own choice. Add to this, exciting camp-wide activities, plus fun collegeage counselors and we’ve got a great recipe for Summer FUN. Leaders In Training Seventh-Ninth Grade Willoway’s Leaders-in-Training (LIT) Program is a unique opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills in a fun camp environment. LIT’s gain a fuller and richer perspective on what it means to be a team player and leader through hands-on experiences and special activities. LIT’s have a wide range of opportunities – helping with groups and activities – acting as role models for younger children, learning and practicing teamwork, all while gaining confidence at Willoway! Senior Campers can look forward to new and exciting opportunities this summer – special “Senior Only” unit programs and activities, including trips to the beach & teambuilding initiatives, and participation in other fun activities. LIT’s can look forward to Willoway Exclusives geared just for them, including outings to the beach, Challenge course and teambuilding initiatives, creating of a special camp craft project, and participation in the annual Canoe Trip – an LIT favorite. The Senior Camper Program encourages campers to take on new challenges and become more independent – that’s what we call The Willoway Experience. Successful participation in the program makes the LIT eligible for consideration as a CA (counselor aide) as they enter 10th grade. www.willowaydaycamp.com • 248-932-2123 Only at …’cause Willoway has: CAMPERS’ CHOICE – daily opportunities for each camper to choose an activity of their own special interest – to help create their own choice experience. LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM – Many campers learn to swim at Willoway – in our two teaching pools, designed for children, our American Red Cross based swim program fosters the development and acquisition of new swimming skills, while our free swim program offers time to reinforce newly learned techniques. Simply put, we teach swimming best! LUNCH – Campers may bring their lunch which is refrigerated or may choose the catered lunch option on a weekly basis. On these 16 acres, we offer the best summer ever for our campers, many of whom are second generation Willoway families. From our “state of the art” swimming pools, built especially for children to our pond & lakesite, our animal farm, nature trail, low ropes-initiative challenge course, “ga-ga-ga” courts, athletic fields, tennis courts, go-kart track, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, archery range and more, “The Willoway Ranch” is the place to be. Indoor facilities complement our comprehensive outdoor campus and include arts and crafts, photography, gym, climbing wall, dining hall, arena, indoor sports and activity areas, performing arts facilities, photography labs – both digital and traditional, along with lots of places to discover, explore and have fun. Experience Matters The Willoway Ranch continues to be directed by its senior staff, Arnie and Lorraine Fisher, Jonathon Koenigsberg and Jason Rosen. As a leadership team, they combine years of practical experience with a youthful outlook and fresh perspectives in the guidance and direction of Willoway. Camp staff is selected for warmth, maturity, ability and enthusiasm. Our staff is comprised of college students, including international staff members who offer a rich cultural and educational diversity to Willoway. Extensive precamp workshops are held each summer to fully acquaint staff with the philosophy of Willoway Camp and its concern for the growth of its campers. Throughout the summer, in-service training assures the on-going development of our counseling team. Everyday is an Adventure Willoway’s activity program encourages campers to discover what they love to do! Weekly schedules provide lots of opportunities to try out new activities and experience the joy of accomplishment. With an emphasis on non-competitive summer “fun”, the Willoway Experience gives your child the ingredients for new dimensions of personal growth and creativity with the finest facilities. Children participate in a range of sports, art and aquatics activities that are taught by a staff of teachers and specialists. With the aid of expert instructors, and based on American Red Cross Swim curriculum, non-swimmers develop skills and confidence, while campers with skills become even better swimmers. Many campers who have never played baseball or other games learn at Willoway. Our grounds are equipped for baseball, volleyball, archery, gymnastics, track, basketball, field hockey, soccer, sand volleyball, tennis, go-carting, trust & challenge activities, climbing wall and more! The camp pond with fishing, paddleboating, rowboating, and canoeing provides all levels of aquatic skills. Children who like to catch turtles and frogs will find them near our pond and on our nature trails. Those who like lambs, goats, and rabbits, will visit them in the animal farm. Pony riding is a most popular activity. Creative imaginations soar as campers enjoy dramatics, dance, rocketry, arts & crafts, ceramics, chemistry, digital photography and fencing. The entire camp comes together for special events like our July 4th celebration and Annual Carnival, and for Willoway’s Olympic Day. Optional Thursday overnights, weekly cookouts and all camp shows add excitement and build tradition. Woven into everyday camp life are opportunities to build lifelong friendships, develop problem solving skills, independence and self esteem, all within a premier camp environment, one as complete as a sleepaway camp-a place we call Willoway.
