WELCOME TO OUR AUTUMN PROGRAMME!
Over the next few months The Gaiety will present the usual rich mix of music,
drama and dance. From Sherlock Holmes to Cosi Fan Tutte and Billy n’ Tim to the
Big Chris Barber Band there is something for everyone. The big event will be our
annual Christmas Panto, a spectacular Jack and the Beanstalk. Favourites Michael
Courtney and Fraser Boyle will be joined this year by Jane McCarry – well known
on TV as Isa from Still Game and Granny Murray from Me Too!

Finally I can also announce that, although we will be open all next year, our main
house will be getting a facelift from February to August. With £2.2 million raised,
I’m confident our many supporters will help us raise the last £200,000 so we can
complete every aspect of this stage of the restoration. Please help us if you can.

But we are more than simply a theatre. So you’ll find information in this brochure
of some of the wide range of other activities we have been involved in this year so
far – and there are more exciting developments in the pipeline. I am particularly
proud of the partnerships we are building within Ayrshire, but also with other
theatres and national organisations.

Restoration
Help us with the final push
£2,200,000
D UP
Our target was £2.4 million to upgrade the
interior of the theatre. We are now only £200,000
from this amount – but we need to raise the
balance by early next year. Can you help? We
need donations of all sizes. For example
l For £50 you can reduce our bills with a new
energy efficient houselight.
l For £250 you could enable up to 250 people a
year to sit in a comfortable and robust seat.
l For £1,000 you could ensure over 500 stars
each year are lit properly with a new follow spot.
l For £10,000 you could make sure around
20,000 audience members a year can use a great
looking staircase to the circle.

Whatever amount you can afford, we’ll make

Restoring the Gaiety
We are confident we’ll raise the full amount we
need to go ahead with major investment in the
main house from 7th February 2016. The Studio
Theatre and the Stage Door restaurant will remain
open throughout 2016. Meanwhile next door,
a transformation will be underway leading to a
reopening in Autumn 2016.
Please ask for an information and donation leaflet,
or go to our website, or ask to speak to a member

Our major sponsors:
Some of the work will be invisible – but will make a
significant improvement in audience comfort. A carefully
designed and installed new ventilation system, and a
major upgrade to the existing heating system will bring
the auditorium up to modern standards.
Other changes will be more obvious – an open and
more spacious foyer will lead into a completely restored
auditorium. New and refurbished seating will increase
comfort for all, and improved wheelchair locations will
cater for less mobile members of our audience.
A new stage, full rewiring and new sound and
lighting equipment will make subtle but important
improvements to the quality of our shows. Importantly,
many of the improvements will make the operation
of the theatre easier and more comfortable for our
dedicated volunteers.
Overall the end result will be the same theatre, but a
much better experience. By combining the best of old
and new we’ll have a fully modernized theatre with in
an auditorium restored to look as it was meant to be. We’ll be providing updates by social media and on our
webpage so you can join us in this exciting journey.
