We have a new friend through the GSE program. Last night the whole group gathered at our home for a POT LUCK Supper. It was a fun time for all. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a birthday cake to LEVI. We song happy birthday in 2 languages and several other songs. LEVI was a comfortable guest in our home. We had many good conversations (in English of course). LEVI helped aroud the house as if he lived here. We have learned so much about BRAZIL through LEVI. We hope to be able to see LEVI’s Country someday to see his family. There should be more people in the world like LEVI. The world would be a better place.” Dom and Ann D’Ambruoso Dear Dom and Ann, When I arrived in The United States you were my first family and I remember warmly how you received me with opens arms and open hearts as a son, as a great friend, as if we had known each other for many years. You taught me so many words in English; you walked with me around Hopkinton; you took me to your wonderful house in Mount Washington and you celebrated my birthday with a big party and a delicious cake! It marked me profoundly! You are my great friends and here in Brazil you have my family as your family! Dom and Ann, thank you for everything you did for me and for the team. I love you! This has been a wonderful experience for us, Rotary and Bennington Community. Levi has a new home here in VERMONT and he and his family are welcome back at any time. It was a thrill for me to hear from our physicians that they enjoyed the visits with Levi and Eduardo and that the learning went in both directions. The club presentations were very well received and we all became more familiar with BRAZIL, CEARÁ, PIAUÍ, MARANHÃO and your beautiful culture and traditions. We are truly living in one world with only distance separating us. I wish that our world leaders could experience the Rotary GSE program.” Most Sincerely, Tom Lenkowski “FROM YOUR “MOTHER”” Levi, it was so good to have you share our home if only for a short time. Please know that you, Eneida and your daughters are always welcome. Levi enjoyed his one month in New Hampshire and Vermont while doing a very good job for Rotary International as Team leader for GSE. Levi’s parents can be proved they raised a kind, intelligent and hard working son. To Levi’s wife, it was clear Levi appreciates your love and many accomplishments as a loving mother and Rotarian. Levi’s children can proudly say their father thinks and speaks and loves them every single day. Best Regards, Bill Anderson, GSE chair Dear Bill Anderson and Nancy, We did so many things together, visited so many places, everything was perfect, everything was complete, nothing lacking, and nothing remained to be desired. The team arrived at our home upon arrival to NH for a cookout. They immediately won our hearts! Levi was an organized, caring team leader, very proved of his family, profession and country. He was very willing to share with us and made us full part of his family as well. “Mom, Dad, + Sister”. The whole team was wonderful. Erivan shared his gift of music, his gentle spirit and caring ways. Eduardo`s quiet humor and contagious smile will be well remembered. Anna intent on capturing every moment in picture, adopted us all as her family, sharing her love of life with us. Candice who would probably love to come study here was a delight and welcomed member of our family. As we listen to them share stories, laughter, + affection with each other in their own language, we see they are indeed a very special team – new friends. This experience has truly enriched our family, now we have extended family in Brazil! Steve and Déb 05/05/05 (May 5, 2005) Levi -- It was a pleasure to meet you at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont. I spoke with my friend, Dr. James FitzGerald MD FACS, a Board certified ophthalmologist, and he was extremely interested in visiting your country. He asked me to contact you. We were thinking about January 2006. Dr. FitzGerald (Jim) would like the opportunity to do some surgery with you - he mentioned pterygium surgery? I would be accompanying Jim. Perhaps we could work something out? In case you have forgotten who I am, I was one of the OR nurses (the tall one) in Bennington who had our pictures taken with you. Thank you. I will wait for your reply. Mas, como você e a FPD Eneida são inteligentes... 31 11/08/05 (August 11, 2005) Dear Levi, I just received your Group Study Exchange Final Report and its absolutely wonderful. Very well done, informative and interesting. We had such a great time with all of you and enjoyed every aspect of your visit. From the vocational excursions, to the parties, to the sightseeing and the hockey game, every moment was a treasure and we'll remember all of you forever. I hope that someday Merry Lee and I can come to your beautiful country for a visit and certainly know that you, your team, your families are always welcome here anytime. We'd love to have you return for a visit and some more sightseeing. Keep in touch, and my very best to all of you. Dave Benson PDG D-7870 11/08/05 (August 11, 2005) Caro Levi. Alberto Bittencourt, ex-governador do centenário do D4500 . 14/08/05 (August 14, 2005) Dear Great Friend Levi, I tried to send you e-mail about a dozen times they always are returned. I am a member of Steve Puderbaugh’s club, Raymond Area, and met you and your team at his house when you first arrived in our country. Erivan stayed at our house when your team visited our club. My wife Julie and Erivan played violin together at our club meeting. She and I walked with you and your team along the ocean, past the very large homes in Newport. I have been selected to be the team leader for our Group Study Exchange with India this year. I have a team of four women and we will be leaving for India on January 10, 2006, returning February 10. It is an exciting adventure for me. Through our preparation I have referred to your team as a model for ours. I have been involved in hosting 8 different GSE teams and many of us in the district feel that your team was the best we have hosted. Enclosed is fun picture I took of your GSE Team at the District Conference in Newport, Rhode Island last spring. I’m sorry that you are not in it. I have shown in to out team for inspiration. Even at the end of a long, tiring trip together, your team showed a spirit of friendliness towards on another. I am writing this letter to you to congratulate you on a job well done.
