Mass Intentions & Memorial Candles
If you would like to have a Mass offered for a particular
Intention or for someone who has died, or if you would like to
dedicate a candle to an intention or a loved one, please call the
parish office. The stipend for the Mass is $10. The candles are
$30 for 1 month, $60 for 6 months, or $90 for one year. Our
office staff will help you find an open date and time for a Mass,
or available candles for dedications.
Jubilee Year of Mercy. This Jubilee Year of Mercy is a gift to humanity. Thanks
to Pope Francis for being an apostle of mercy. Truly the world needs more mercy than
ever.
Let us join the whole Church opening the Year of Mercy this 8th of December. Pope
Francis said in the Bull of Indiction that the Church makes mercy available throughout
time. Jesus is the face of the Father’s mercy. We are invited to gaze more often at the face
of God’s mercy. We, too, are invited to experience God’s mercy and be merciful like
Christ through our baptismal call.
This December 21, the City of Albany will be celebrating a day in honor of the homeless.
This day of remembrance is also a day to do generous strides to help our homeless
brothers and sisters. As a great opportunity to start with, I am inviting you to join me in
doing corporal work of mercy of keeping our homeless brothers and sisters warm during
this freezing season. Used clothing, blankets, socks, mittens, and coats are welcome.
Bring them in the church beginning 8th of December until December 20.

In the previous notes, I mentioned about movements of some
furnishings on the sanctuary to help us better celebrate our
liturgies and emphasize the meaning of the parts of the Mass in
connection to the space and the furnishings used. Each piece of
sanctuary furnishing bespeaks of the importance of the parts of the
celebration of the Mass and the space the ministers share and move in
make the whole celebration beautiful and organized.
I want to share to you this rough-draft of a front perspective of the
plan. This draft is unscaled, thus the ratio of the sizes of the pieces in
the draft does not necessarily represent to the real pieces. The drawing
will only show where those pieces will go and how they will look like
when the pieces are moved.
The ambo will move to the left and will be placed forward. All the
readings (i.e. the first reading, the Psalm, the second reading and the
Gospel) will be proclaimed here. The ambo will also be used to preach
the homily and to pray the universal prayers.
The icon of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help will have a permanent place on the sanctuary. Since she is the
patroness of the parish, she will be permanently located in an alcove on the right side of the wall behind the altar.
The Tabernacle will also move to the sanctuary. It will be placed on the wall on the left next to the alcove
of the icon of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Since we made the chapel a ready 24-hour reservation chapel for the
Blessed Sacrament, the current place of the Tabernacle becomes unnecessary. To give the Tabernacle it’s proper
place, it should go back to the sanctuary area where proper honor can be given to it in and outside Mass.
Other pieces that will stay on the sanctuary will be the altar, the presider’s chair, the deacon chair and the
processional cross.

procesional.

exposures are those yet unborn because they are the least
capable of fending themselves from toxic exposures. ….
Early exposure to neurotoxins like lead and mercury may
result in lifelong developmental effects, permanently
altering a child's intelligence and/or their development.

Development (CCHD)! Your generous gifts will help
CCHD end poverty in the United States through better
education, improved housing, and economic development. Through CCHD and its beneficiaries, we demonstrate Catholic social teaching and carry out Jesus’
mission to “bring glad tidings to the poor . . . to proclaim
liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to
let the oppressed go free” (Lk 4:18).

Year of Mercy
December 8, 2015 November 20, 2016

USCCB… How can we show others the mercy of God? We say that God is compassionate, but we ignore the
poor. We say that God loves us and has mercy on us, but we hold grudges against our friends. Our actions
need to authentically reflect God's mercy
Albany...Marilyn Smith at the City Manager’s office is excited we will participate in the Homeless Memorial.
The memorial will in fact be at 5:30 on Monday Dec 21 at City Hall. The needed items are, blankets, rain gear,

What does St. Mary’s Church mean to you?
Father Cit would like to create a logo for the church. He wants something that encompasses the essence of our church. If you are
interested, sketch out an idea and submit it to the office. Father Cit will use the ideas to help him create the final logo.
This will be open to all ages. You don’t even need to be an artist! It is not a competition, just a way for everyone to have a chance
to express what the church means to them. We will take submissions until the end of December. Father will work on the final
product starting in January.
Thank you to all who will share your ideas with us.
