Healy’s team overcame constantly changing port operations schedules, dynamic
working conditions, numerous unforeseen obstructions and environmental issues to
complete this high quality product ahead of schedule with win-win solutions for all
involved. The Navy recognized Healy’s professionalism and outstanding performance
with a letter of appreciation and a certificate of achievement for exemplary safety.
The Azaya project is located in Wailua, Kauai. The property fronts the Wailua River
on two sides with great views of the ocean. The project scope required using the existing footprint with a complete interior gut and remodel including a bathroom addition on the second floor. This project was unique in that it was time-driven and not
budget-driven.

installation of 3 pumps, associated piping and specialty fittings, preliminary grading
for all utilities, sewer, water, gas, electric, fiber and phone, and installed 24 to 48 inch
diameter drainage lines, graded all pads and poured the curb and gutter.
Beach Tree Restaurant at Four Seasons Hualalai
The $200 million dollar Ho’olei Condominium, project includes 20 residential buildings each with six units and a minimum of 3,400 square feet per unit. The resort
rubs elbows with neighbors like the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons Resort and Spa. Building such a gem was not an easy task due to tight time constraints for this sold-out
project. ACK had to juggle vertical construction of the buildings while sitework was
still in progress.

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel Renovation
After suffering extensive damage from the October, 2006 earthquake, the Mauna Kea
Beach Hotel undertook major repair and renovation work including gutting and renovating all 156 rooms in the main tower. After significant value engineering, Hawaiian
Dredging began specialized demolition to expose areas for extensive epoxy injection
in the concrete structure. Additional scope of work included rock wall reconstruction,
modernization of the restaurant, a new fitness center, and upgrading 102 rooms in the
beach wing.
Th e Queen’s M e dical Center E lectrical U pgrade P lant
The new four‐story reinforced concrete plant houses four new 2.5 megawatt generators. The new plant gives the Queen’s Medical Center the capability to operate on
generator power in the event of any disaster situation. Located on a site between the
existing hospital utility plant and a 9‐story parking structure, the site dimensions measured 92‐feet by 20.6-feet.

The Hawaii County Building served as the heart of Hilo for nearly 50 years. It was
an icon of Hilo architecture and over the years the building became in need of a renovation. Understanding the importance of resurrecting this symbolic structure, Nan,
Inc. completed the highly anticipated renovation incorporating 21st century features,
while maintaining the original fabric of the building.
Kapule Hig h way Resurfacing, Kauai
The Kapule Highway resurfacing project was a $7.1 million dollar project to reconstruct a one mile stretch of Kapule Highway. Kiewit implement a comprehensive
Traffic Management Plan and kept two lanes open during construction. The project
was finished ahead of schedule and with a flawless safety record. Over 263 days and
11,000 man hours without a single recordable incident.

Kapolei Parkway W est
Kapolei Parkway West is the gateway to the future development of the West Kapolei
area. This project required the construction or reconstruction of approximately 37,000
Square Yards of roadway in a high traffic area of Kapolei. Delta Construction Corporation (“Delta”) rose to the task and delivered the project on schedule and under
budget while having no accidents or major quality incidents. Delta is extremely proud
to have been a part of this project as it will truly benefit the entire community.

Hale Koa I lima Tower Renovations
The widening of Haleakala Highway from three lanes to four was needed to improve
the highway’s safety. Scope of work also included new drainage features, traffic signal
installation, bridges, and utility relocations. The Ultra-Thin White (UTW) topping
overlay product was used for a longer life span, and was the largest UTW installation
in the United States at the time.
The Hale Koa Ilima Tower Renovation Contract included partial demolition of guestrooms and functional spaces, modification to partition layouts, construction of a new
service bar at the Banyan Tree Showroom, renovation of the Hotel’s main kitchen,
upgrading mechanical systems, upgrading electrical systems and installation of new
architectural finishes.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRUCTION

This renovated wharf facility provides a critical tugboat berthing and service platform.
Work included structural concrete repairs and replacement of existing fender system
using concrete and composite piles. Healy partnered with the Navy to ensure the facility was fully operational five months ahead of schedule. Healy’s professionalism and
cooperative efforts resulted in an outstanding performance evaluation from the Navy.

Cell V-A included 87,540 cubic yards of excavation and 67,500 cubic yards of embankment, a 2-foot layer of low permeability clay, an impermeable geo membrane, a
geotextile, a 1 foot of drain rock (leachate), and an additional 2 feet of soil cover, a
1,110-foot long, 30-foot high trash containment fence.

allow larger vessels to safely navigate through WestLoch. Healy and its design team

Honolulu Parking Structure at Honolulu I nternational Airport
The new eight ‐level, 1711‐stall Honolulu International Airport Parking Structure was
the first design‐build contract undertaken by the State DOT Airport. The concrete
structure is strategically and aesthetically integrated into the existing airport complex
and includes a two‐level bridge connecting to the existing Interisland Terminal for traffic and pedestrians, and a surface lot to accommodate another 116 vehicles.

Since its opening 92 years ago as a home school, Hanahau‘oli School has grown into a
premiere early education campus. This two-story building is the home for the administrative staff and the 4th/5th grade multiage classrooms. By incorporating color, subtle
shifts in wall planes and texture changes, this beautiful building portrays a kid friendly,

Kukuiula V illage Shopping Center
Kukuiula Village is a $45 million shopping village consisting of 11 one and two-story
plantation-style buildings, each its own distinct size and shape, totaling 83,000 square
feet of retail and office space, set amidst courtyards on 12 acres on Kauai’s south shore.
Construction required blasting through lava fields to level the slope and for utility
trenches. While the economy was plunging elsewhere, we provided employment opportunities and completed the project on time and within budget.
