The resort rubs elbows with neighbors like the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons Resort and Spa. Building such a gem was not an easy task due to tight time constraints for this sold-out project. ACK had to juggle vertical construction of the buildings while sitework was still in progress. After significant value engineering, Hawaiian Dredging began specialized demolition to expose areas for extensive epoxy injection in the concrete structure. Additional scope of work included rock wall reconstruction, modernization of the restaurant, a new fitness center, and upgrading 102 rooms in the beach wing. Th e Queen’s M e dical Center E lectrical U pgrade P lant The new four‐story reinforced concrete plant houses four new 2.5 megawatt generators. The new plant gives the Queen’s Medical Center the capability to operate on generator power in the event of any disaster situation. Located on a site between the existing hospital utility plant and a 9‐story parking structure, the site dimensions measured 92‐feet by 20.6-feet. Nan, Inc. Kiewit Pacific Co. It was an icon of Hilo architecture and over the years the building became in need of a renovation. Understanding the importance of resurrecting this symbolic structure, Nan, Inc. completed the highly anticipated renovation incorporating 21st century features, while maintaining the original fabric of the building. Kapule Hig h way Resurfacing, Kauai The Kapule Highway resurfacing project was a $7.1 million dollar project to reconstruct a one mile stretch of Kapule Highway. Kiewit implement a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan and kept two lanes open during construction. The project was finished ahead of schedule and with a flawless safety record. Scope of work also included new drainage features, traffic signal installation, bridges, and utility relocations. The Ultra-Thin White (UTW) topping overlay product was used for a longer life span, and was the largest UTW installation in the United States at the time. The Hale Koa Ilima Tower Renovation Contract included partial demolition of guestrooms and functional spaces, modification to partition layouts, construction of a new service bar at the Banyan Tree Showroom, renovation of the Hotel’s main kitchen, upgrading mechanical systems, upgrading electrical systems and installation of new architectural finishes. Healy partnered with the Navy to ensure the facility was fully operational five months ahead of schedule. Healy’s professionalism and cooperative efforts resulted in an outstanding performance evaluation from the Navy.
