STYLE & PERFORMANCE
Styled by legendary car designer Giorgetto
Giugiaro, Korando is a true blend of Italian
form and Korean function. The front end
styling features a modern grille and projector
headlamps with LED daytime running lights to
give a sharp contemporary look. This theme is
followed throughout with new wheel designs,
new rear light clusters and new colours – but
the simple elegance of Giugiaro’s original design
is maintained throughout.
The introduction of a new 2.2 litre diesel engine
has taken Korando’s performance to new levels.
With 400Nm of torque from just 1400 rpm,
the new engine gives great driving flexibility
which further improves Korando’s noted towing
abilities. And with improved fuel economy
and reduced emissions Korando 2.2 litre adds
efficiency to strong performance.
Korando is also noted for its generous levels
of standard equipment and its 5 year limitless
mileage warranty. Now Korando packs even
greater value with alloy wheels, cruise control,
puddle lamps (on the heated door mirrors),
lower windscreen de-icer, remote central
locking, roof rails, front fog lights, a rear parcel
shelf and a host of other features standard
across the range.
ELEGANT
& PRACTICAL
Korando has a contemporary interior that is
both modern in its design and driver-friendly in
its function. The dashboard features soft touch
materials and an integrated passenger airbag
and ELX models feature comfortable leather
seats that are heated front and rear. There’s
also air conditioning and front and side curtain
airbags to ensure your safety.

Korando SE has a high quality six speaker
audio with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity
and steering wheel controls. Korando EX
upgrades to a stylish 7” touch screen with
rear view parking camera, whilst Korando ELX
adds TomTom navigation to give the best in
contemporary infotainment.

Korando is specified with cruise control across
the range to aid efficient driving. Further
touches include an interior packed with enough
storage spaces to swallow the inevitable kit
that’s a requirement of modern life, with cup
holders, spaces for phones and bins for larger

Korando’s rear seat can be reclined by up to
17.5 degrees to obtain the best possible angle
for passenger comfort.
Passenger comfort is also enhanced by the flat
rear floor which allows three adults to travel in
comfort.
A marvellous comfort on those cold winter
days, Korando EX has heated front seats and
ELX heated front and rear seats.
NEW 2.2 LITRE
DIESEL ENGINE
POWER TO
PERFORM
Designed to meet the tough new Euro 6
emissions standards, SsangYong has developed
a more powerful and efficient turbo diesel unit
using contemporary technologies.
Korando’s new 2.2 litre diesel engine is clean,
efficient and powerful. It develops 178PS @
4000rpm and 400Nm of torque between 1400
and 2800rpm giving a wide spread of power –
enough whether towing, off-roading or heading
to the supermarket.
In towing, numbers certainly tell the true story
- Korando’s sturdy construction and strong
engine performance give a 2 tonne towing
capacity across the range.
Korando is available with either a 6 speed
manual or an Aisin 6 speed automatic gearbox.

TRANSMISSION
This proven unit made by Japanese transmission
experts Aisin is used in SsangYong’s Tivoli,
BMW’s MINI and several Peugeot models.
TORQUE ON DEMAND
4X4 SYSTEM
Korando’s Torque On Demand 4x4 talks to
itself, thinks and acts many times a second.
A network of sensors maintain a stream of
reports to the system’s central processor, which
makes lightning quick decisions about power
and braking. The result: you’re always serenely
in control.
Korando features an advanced 4x4 system
that operates in two modes, depending on
conditions and settings.
In auto mode and in normal conditions,
Korando remains in two wheel drive to optimise
fuel efficiency. When sensors detect a potential
loss of grip, the system switches to four wheel
drive mode.
For very loose or slippery surfaces, the 4x4
system can be locked to allocate drive equally
between front and rear wheels. This provides
supreme grip and control for low-speed
manoeuvres.
Korando also features Hill Start Assist - a
great ally when towing, this system acts like
an automatic handbrake to prevent rolling
backwards during a hill start.

distribution (EBD), electronic
stability programme (ESP)
and active rollover protection
(ARP) which employ a variety
of sensors to detect imminent
loss of control or rollover, and

stability and traction.
