Editorial: During 2004, we launched the 407 and the new 607. Now, early in 2005, we are already launching two important new vehicles in the Automobiles Peugeot range: the 1007 and the 307 which, like the 407 and the new 607, feature an all-CAN electrical-electronic architecture, to provide a higher level of customer service. The year 2004 saw the general installation of the Peugeot Planet System tool. Now, early in 2005, this new diagnostic tool is already being used by more than 8 000 users, world-wide. In 2004, our servers were accessed more than 1 500 000 times, including a monthly average of 20 000 diagnostic sessions using Peugeot Planet Diag. These figures have been steadily increasing throughout the year 2004. The challenge for 2005 is thus to do better, and to achieve this, we suggest that you discover our latest offerings, concerning both the diagnostic and the actual PPS tool. You can thus discover the upgraded 307 Full CAN diagnostic, the new features of the Peugeot Planet Office, Peugeot Planet Diag and Peugeot Planet 2000 packages, and other new features being prepared for future distribution. Of course, you will also find your Hints and Tips section, to help you make the best use of PPS and to answer your questions. PPS News N°4 is now available online, on the Infotec site, section Diagnostic https://www.infotec.peugeot.com 05.A GB 520921(1)-D p.14 p.19 Peugeot Planet office overview and new features Foreword When you installed release 04.C last November, you discovered the Peugeot Planet office diagnostic desktop. Many of you are already using the desktop to access the diagnostic and repair packages. This article provides a little more information, supplementing that published in the previous PPS news. Overview Peugeot Planet office (PPo) is a software package that enables you to intuitively access all the repair and diagnostic applications (PP2000, PPDiag, PPmeasure, etc.), and all the documentation available on the Peugeot servers (Infotec, Diagram, E-Reca, etc.). PPo saves your previously entered data, so that you don’t need to re-enter it when running the repair and diagnostic software. PPo only needs one download operation to update all the repair applications: PP2000, PPmeasure, PPDiag. When starting up the system for the day, PPo asks whether you want to check that your package is up-to-date. This operation needs an Internet connection. If you don’t want to check immediately, you can still go into the configuration management menu (press F5), to update your application. 2 New PPo features in release 05.A PPo enables you to access the vehicle electrical documentation, using the vehicle VIN code, for the many models that are covered by the application. This means that you don’t have to re-enter the model, the engine type and all the configurations present on the vehicle! However, to avoid confusion on the vehicle, a screen is displayed so that you can confirm that the data provided by the Peugeot information system is correct. This link to the diagram is only present on vehicles accepting this upgrade (307, 407, 607, 607R, 807) We highly recommend that you should systematically use PPo, as it makes the package much easier and more convenient to use. To help you, from release 05.A onwards, the link to the PP2000 application will open PPo. 3 Peugeot Planet Diag 1 - Peugeot Planet Diag new HMI Your Peugeot Planet Diag package is now available in a new presentation. 2 - Layout of the communication board When Peugeot Planet Diag prompts a telecoding or downloading screen, you can use Peugeot Planet 2000 to set up or download, without interrupting the Peugeot Planet Diag session. You can press keys and (simultaneously), to activate Peugeot Planet 2000 and you can then set up the parameter defined by Peugeot Planet Diag (with Peugeot Planet 2000 already running). 4 When the parameter is set up, you then go back to Peugeot Planet Diag to continue your diagnostic session. Caution, to go back to Peugeot Planet Diag, Peugeot Planet Interface must be green. On Peugeot Planet Diag, when you have answered the question that was asked, the application continues the session. 3 - Vehicle lists The various Peugeot Planet Diag functions, for each vehicle type, are shown in the list below. 1- Configuration check 2 - Shortcut information 3 - Guided Diagnostic June 2005 June 2005 June 2005 106 107 206 Multiplexed Available 306 307 VAN architecture 307 CAN architecture Available Available March 2005 March 2005 March 2005 Available Available Available Available Available Available 307 R 405 406 Multiplexed 407 Available 607 607R 807 VAN architecture 807 CAN architecture 1007 Available October 2005 October 2005 October 2005 April 2005 April 2005 April 2005 Boxer Expert Partner 5 4 - Diagram To read the diagram, remember that the pins on the various elements (e.g. lights, sensor, etc.) are defined in the sense of the pictograms. • Sidelights • Dipped headlights • Headlights main beam • Direction indicator • Heating resistor • Oxygen probe 6 5 - Links to diagram Peugeot Planet Diag prompts the use of the diagram to help your diagnostic. - When you have clicked on the link to the diagram... ... you then have the choice of: the layout diagram... ... or the circuit diagram for the concerned element. 7 6 - Quitting a diagnostic and analysis session Our personnel have a lot of work analysing your unresolved Peugeot Planet Diag sessions (fault not found) by going back through the information feedback in a sessions history. For this reason, it is extremely important that you should exit properly from any session that you run: • Unresolved session: - Click on YES - Click on BACK or EXIT 8 • Resolved session (e.g. defective wire): - Click on NO - Click on YES 9 - Click on YES or NO - Click on BACK or EXIT As you use the system and we analyse your feedback information, these analyses will enable us to provide an increasingly effective system. Example: an unresolved session analysed + resolved assistance record = solution incorporated in Peugeot Planet Diag 10 7 - Clearing fault codes The Peugeot Planet Diag centralised diagnostic method is based on fine modelling of the vehicle malfunctions. To be as efficient as possible, Peugeot Planet Diag uses the entire self-diagnostic (Fault codes, measured values, configuration, etc.) from the vehicle computers. This self-diagnostic from the vehicle computers provides a considerable diagnostic aid, and it is therefore extremely important that any fault codes should not be cleared, and the vehicle configuration in computer memory must not be changed until you have run a diagnostic using Peugeot Planet Diag. And this remains true, even if you used Peugeot Planet 2000 before Peugeot Planet Diag. 8 - Replacing parts Important: If a Peugeot Planet Diag diagnostic session indicates that a part should be replaced, you can replace the part without having to request confirmation from the assistance centres. 11 Contents of CD 05.A 407 307 CAN N° Computers 1 AAS X 2 ABS 8 X 3 ADDGO X 4 AIRBAG X 5 ALARM X 6 BSI X 7 BTE X 8 BVA X 9 CCD (CD loader) X 10 CDPL X 11 AIR CONDITIONING X 12 MM6LP (EW10 J4S) X 13 MM6LPB (EW10A) X 14 MM6LP (ET3 J4) X 15 SID 803 (DW10 BTED4) X 16 ME745 (TU5 JP4) X 17 EDC16C3 (DV6 ATED/TED4) X 18 COM 2003 (HDC) X 12 307 VAN 206 Mux Partner 607 CAN 1007 407 307 CAN N° Computers 19 MULTI-FUNCTION COMPUTER X 20 EDP X 21 EMF A+ X 22 EMF C- X 23 ESP 8 X 24 GEP X 25 MAE X 26 RD4 X 27 RT3 (Telematics) X 28 TO X 29 EMF C- 30 EDC16C3 (DV6TED4) 31 BDM 32 MULTI-FUNCTION COMPUTER 33 RT3 (Telematics) 34 BSI Telecoding upgrade 35 ESP TRW Incorporate “Spare parts” menu Incorporate “Retrofit” menu Add AMVAR field in telecoding 307 VAN 206 Mux Partner 607 CAN 1007 NEW NEW Delete “BDM saved input” MPs Add “headrest” TA MP upgrade Delete call self and manual test Delete telediagnostic intervals less than 600 miles Telecoding upgrade 13 The new 307 full CAN diagnostic The new 307 full CAN features: - a 407 type key, - two zone air conditioning with new front panel, - the diagnostic socket is now positioned centrally, in front of the gear lever (remove the ash tray for easy access). The 307 full CAN diagnostic After the 407 and the 607, the 307 adopts an architecture using the full CAN protocol. In terms of electronics architecture, this upgrade paves the way for the launching of the new 307 R, in a few months time. The Intelligent Ancillaries Unit (BSI) centralises and processes data from 3 networks: - CAN HS I/S: 500 Kbps, linking the BSI to the dynamic computers in the engine compartment. - CANS LS CONF : 125 Kbps, linking the BSI to the comfort network computers. - CAN LS CAR : 125 Kbps, linking the BSI to the bodywork network computers. The Peugeot Planet System diagnostic package incorporates the upgrades of the 307 full CAN. The 307 is equipped with a new, latest generation, BSI, of the same type as that of the new 607.This new unit provides enhanced fault diagnosis, as its coverage has been broadened and its response time is much less than on the previous 307. If your terminal is infected, your antivirus will clean or isolate the infected file. Deactivation code: When you activate PP2000, you must carefully keep the deactivation code shown on the screen. This is best done by printing the screen page, or copying and saving it. Keeping records: When you return your PPI or order a new element (following theft or loss) don’t forget to keep a record of your shipment. Internet Explorer: Tool bars (google, yahoo, msn, etc, search bars) prevent Peugeot applications from running and must not be installed on PPS terminals. Setting up PPo using a proxy: The LAN advanced parameters for using a proxy, in the Internet Explorer properties, are automatically recovered by PPo. PPo has to be set up to use a proxy. In PPo, click on F5 and then on “setting up proxies”, enter the login and password of a proxy user and check that all the options are selected. The proxy address, port and exceptions (localhost, etc...) are already entered. PPD: If the message “diagnostic server connection impossible” is displayed: • Click on F2 in PPo and check that the Peugeot Planet Diag application is available. Also check that the Internet Explorer connection is operating properly. 16 PPi: For any problem concerning communication between the PPi and Peugeot applications, check that the PPi connector is firmly assembled and connected. PPo : If the message “Peugeot Planet interface is not connected to the PC” is displayed, restart the PPS terminal with the PPI disconnected. If you have problems when using PPo, press F12 to display a user guide. If the PPS stops suddenly due to a discharged battery: The following messages are displayed “Resuming windows”, “for troubleshooting press F8…” Press the “Power” button until the PPS restarts. Confirm on the “enter” button, to confirm the “delete restoration data” line. The PPS then restarts normally. Windows: Don’t forget to completely cycle the battery (complete charge/discharge cycle) at least once per month, to ensure maximum battery life. When the battery is charged to around 100%, it must be disconnected from mains power. 17 Glossary PPS Peugeot Planet System, the Automobiles Peugeot diagnostic system that runs on a portable PC and comprises a package of applications: PPD, PP2000, PPm, etc. PPD Peugeot Planet Diag: the Peugeot diagnostic software.
