Principal’s Message
Just one week to go until the school holidays.
Please remember that this term finishes next Thursday at 3pm as the Friday is a
teacher only day and the staff will be taking part in professional learning at another
school. Please do not send your children to school on Friday 8 July. Term 3 starts on
Monday 25 July and we look forward to welcoming all the students back from their
holidays then.
As many of you know, the PTA has been very active in fundraising for our new junior
playground. This is needed as the existing playground needs to be demolished in
preparation for the new Library and classroom block. We are very excited that
enough money has been raised for this to go ahead and it will be done in these
holidays. When you return from the school holidays, the existing junior playground
and sandpit will have been demolished, Room 22 will have been removed, and the
brand new amazing playground erected. The new one is being placed next to the
other playgrounds at the edge of the field by the ESOL room. This ensures it is easily
visible to duty teachers and keeps the playgrounds near each other. It will be for our
Year 1 and 2 students to play on. I know the students will join me in thanking you all
for contributing to this project and I can’t wait to see them enjoying playing on this.
This is a representation of what it will look like:

Congratulations to all the students who braved the heavy rain yesterday and took
part in either the Year 6 netball day at Netball North Harbour or the Tough Guy & Gal
challenge at Woodhill. Taking part in either event was very challenging in that
weather and certainly showed how tough our students are. Both groups represented
our school extremely well. A huge thank you to the teachers, Ms Lloyd (netball) and
Mrs Lavulo (tough challenge) and the parents who supported.
Have a great last week of term everyone and don’t forget to order your pizzas by
tomorrow at the latest for our pizza lunch next Thursday!
Kindest regards
Sue Cattell

Year 3 trip to Westlake Girls High School
The students from Westlake Girls High School have been practising their leadership skills through PE games with the
Year three students. We have been offered the opportunity to have a Round Robin tournament at Westlake taking
advantage of their amazing facilities. It relates to our PE curriculum by demonstrating ways of maintaining and
enhancing relationships between individuals and within groups and using local community resources.
We will be travelling to Westlake Girls High School by bus on Thursday 7th July at 9.05 and returning to school by

DONATE A BOOK TO THE LIBRARY
If your child would like to donate a book to the Library and have their name put into the book - I have a selection of
titles for them to choose from. All these books cost $2. If they bring their money to the Library, they can choose a
book.
I hope your children have been talking to you about the fun activities and talks we have been enjoying for Literacy

Travelwise
It is great to see so many people continue to embrace our
message, by leaving cars at
home, even though the colder weather and rain has arrived.
Being Travelwise helps reduce traffic at the school gates and is a healthy way to
start or end our day.
Please ensure that your child is kept safe by checking that they know the road safety
rules and that, if riding a bike or scooter, that they have a helmet and fluro vest.
free
Don’t forget we have
fluro vests for all those students who complete the cycle and scooter
declaration form and return it to the school office. Scooter Declaration form

BOOK
WEEK
PARADE
Mrs Weston has recorded a CD of music for kids age 0-7+. 'The Bunnas' is a mix of 12 songs for kids about everyday
things and features the singing talents of four of our Milford School students.
CDs are available from the school office, directly from Mrs Weston in Room 12 or on www.Facebook.com/TheBunnas
TOUGH GAL/GUY CHALLENGE
We took 22 Milford students to the Junior Tough Guy & Gal Challenge out in Woodhill yesterday; there were just over
1600 competitors. The rain was heavy, the water levels were high on the course, in the creek, and in the carpark.
There were so many exhilarated faces as they returned to the finish line after their 1.5km or 3km obstacle run. Our
children put on quite the show as they danced and sang on the stage to many songs before the race began. Fabulous
parent help, resilience from the children, and a well earned shower! - Mrs Lavulo
