The Milford Pumpkin Festival Features
Two Stages of Great Local Talent
Milford – While pumpkins big and small abound at the Milford Pumpkin Festival on October 8-10, it’s the music on two stages
that is the highlight of the weekend. Over 30 local bands and singers will take the stages over the weekend, performing everything
from award-winning country, bluegrass, symphony, folk and rock
‘n’roll.
Kicking off the weekend on Friday, October 10 on the Oval Stage
is PB&Jammin Jazz Ensemble, a group of talented young musicians playing a mixture of jazz, pop and big band. They are followed on Friday by Folk Soul, an exciting 8-piece ensemble specializing in feel-good, up-beat tempos using unique instrumentation.
Tubas, trombones, guitars, balafons, sax, accordion, piano and
other exotic percussion blend into a whirlwind of swampy New
Orleans-style rhythms that make dancing inescapable.
A sample of tunes to be heard on Saturday and Sunday include
The New Englanders playing a variety of folk/rock and country
style acoustic music such as Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, the Grateful
Dead and Tom Waits. The Great American Songbook is sung with
warm styling and deft guitar accompaniment by the Stephanie
Hurley Combo, featuring well-known local vocalist Stephanie Hurley. On the Oval Stage Saturday night, The Ballou Brothers Band
rocks downtown Milford with their mostly original music that
has been written over the last 3 decades.
Saturday Night will also be the scene of the Elm Street Block
Party featuring music by Boston band Destroy Babylon playing

moving. The block party also features a beer tasting with locally produced craft beers courtesy of Martha’s Exchange in
Nashua, Bellavance Beverages and Smuttynose Brewing of
Portsmouth.
The Milford Great Pumpkin Festival celebrates its 21st year
on October 8-10 in downtown Milford. There are several returning favorites such as the Great Pumpkin Weigh In, the
Pumpkin Catapult, scarecrow making and face painting and
the Chili Contest all on the Oval and the Community House
Lawn. For the little ones in Emerson Park: a Halloween Storybook Trail where children may meet various characters from
nursery rhymes.
The Milford Great Pumpkin Festival is organized on behalf of the Town
