WELCOME TO
CAMP LINGUA
Camp Lingua is a unique language immersion program where children enjoy an
enriching, fun experience while developing language and critical thinking skills. Our
natural, open-ended multisensory approach consists of visual, auditory and physical
practice in a language immersion environment which stimulates language acquisition.
Our Language Camps is the perfect way to help your child explore a second language
while making new friends. They will learn easily by seeing, hearing and putting a
language in action. A combination of a state-of-the-art methodology and materials
-including story videos, vocabulary DVDs, CDs, scripts and guides to literally surround
children with new language - ensure a natural language learning experience.
ABOUT

Since 2000, Camp Lingua, an internationally recognized language and culture training
center is acknowledged for efficacy of its language programs and professionalism.
Throughout the years, Camp Lingua has been actively involved in providing activities
and services to its students, through partnerships within the community. An example of
our educational partners are Broward College, Imagine Charter School, Pine Island
Montessori, Montessori Institute of Broward, Parkway School, Sawgrass Community
Church, Calvary Chapel Sawgrass, among others.
Our instructors are carefully chosen based on their degrees and expertise. They are
trained in the proven LinguaSM Methodology. They all possess bachelor degrees and
many possess MAs and expertise in education, linguistics or a related field, and
accreditation as private school instructors. Our counselors possess native fluency in the
original and target languages and subject matter expertise. They are all high school
grads. Some are college students and most are college grads.
Our President, Johana Galavis (BA-Psychology of Science), is proficient in Spanish and
English and experienced in language and culture training. She founded this Language
Immersion Summer Camp and since then has created a superior language training
experience for children of all ages through fun and engaging activities. She also
participated in research pertaining to language learning for young children in South
Florida through Florida Atlantic University.
Bilingual -or multilingual- literature and skills are proven success assets!
Children with bilingual or multilingual knowledge have a competitive edge. From
non-native English speaking homes to native English speaking homes in the USA, being
bilingual offers many benefits. These are some of the benefits your children and you will
enjoy upon receiving a language service from Camp Lingua or its Partner, Lingua
Language Center:

talk to the teachers and counselors regarding curriculum, progress, approach, etc., as well as
with the administrators regarding lunch, field trips, t-shirts...
Meanwhile, the children play and watch videos. From 9:00AM until noon, each group
participates in different activities, rotating each hour. The activities consist of language lessons,
Language Active Lab that allows children to practice what they have learned in class, and sports,
including basketball, soccer, kickball, volleyball, water games, yoga, aerobics, flag football,
capture the flag, etc. During class and lab time, children learn vocabulary, grammar,
conversational skills, reading and writing when applicable. They receive a textbook for the
classes, chosen according to their age. Once per week children will engage in lake activities
such as canoeing, peddle boating, archery, fishing and boot camp at the Parkway School
location. At the Calvary Chapel Sawgrass children will explore nature through gardening, farming
and horseback riding activities. At noon, children go to lunch and then, recess. In the
afternoon, they actively engage in different electives, including, dancing, music, culinary arts,
knitting, fishing techniques, arts & crafts, sculpting, drama, conversational Spanish, cake design,
scientific discoveries & experiments, jewelry making, drawing, sports, and much more.
On Wednesdays, we go on field trips (Kabooms, C.B Smith Water Park, Flamingo Gardens,
Planetarium, Air Boat Rides, Markham Park BBQ’s, Monster Golf, bowling, skating, Monkey
Joe’s, etc. ). Field trips are optional. On Fridays, we have field and team activities, parties,
special guests and much more. Every other week, on the last day of each session, children
perform either a song, dance or theatre representation for the parents. To prepare for the
presentations in their language of study, they practice throughout the session. On this Friday
there is no After-Camp Care.

SCHOOL-SUBJECT TUTORING
fun LEARNING ACADEMY
SUMMER CAMP
Camp Lingua's newest creation! At Fun Learning Academy we create ways to enhance
school subjects such as math, reading, vocabulary, language arts, science and languages
with fun interactive techniques. Our Fun Learning Academy Camp is the perfect way to
help your child discover all the excitement of summer while learning new skills to help
them grow and be prepared for the next school year.
Students will participate in two hours of dynamic instructions in the corresponding
subjects, with a focus on reviewing skills and making connections to concepts they will
learn in the upcoming school year.
During class time, children will be given worksheets, books, and different materials to
practice for each given subject. They will also have educational board games and activities
during these two hours as well as a language class of their choice.
Followed by sports; basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, kickball, flag football,
volleyball, water games, yoga, aerobics to name a few. Campers also take advantage of
lake activities, canoeing, fishing, peddle boats, boot camp, archery and field trips. During
the afternoons campers engage in bilingual electives including performing arts, music,
dance, culinary arts, arts & crafts, sculpting, knitting, drawing, cake decorating, fishing
techniques, advanced Spanish and age-appropriate educational games that promote
language acquisition. On Fridays we have special guests, parties, parent performances,
team field games and activities.
