Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, the
capital city is Havana.
The flag is red, white and blue– the same colours as
the Trogon Bird, the Cuban national emblem.
There are lots of bright, exciting animals on Cuba;
bats, crocodiles, frogs, deer and many more.
The national flower is the white butterfly jasmine,
the Royal Palm is the national tree.
Christopher Columbus arrived in Cuba in 1492.
For many years the island was ruled by Spain, and
everyone still speaks Spanish. In 1959 there was a
communist revolution led by Fidel Castro, who led
the country till his brother took over in 2008.
Everyone loved listening to Jesus’ stories, and seeing him
make people better. So they were very excited when they
heard that Jesus was in their town.
The parents brought their children to see Jesus so that they
could be close to him.
Jesus’ friends thought that Jesus wouldn’t want children
near him because he was so busy talking to the grown-ups.
So they said ‘No you can’t do that, go away!’
When Jesus saw what was happening, he was cross and
he said ‘Let the children come to me and don’t stop them
because God loves them, and they are already an important
part of his family. You should trust me like they do.’
Jesus hugged the children and made them laugh.
