Easter is
celebrated in many
different ways by many
different people.
Religious people
celebrate Easter as the
sum of God coming out
of the tomb on the 3rd
and final day after his
death. Some people
believe in this and
others do not.
Kids look at
Easter as a day when
they get all kinds of
candy and colored
eggs, sometimes even
money if they find the
prize egg. For kids it’s
all about the hiding and
the hunting of Easter
eggs and let’s not
forget the Easter bunny
and candy.
There's nothing
better than a good
friend, except a good
friend with
CHOCOLATE. - Linda
Grayson
All I really need is
love, but a little
chocolate now and
then doesn't hurt! Lucy Van Pelt
Forget love; I’d
rather fall in

Easter is not a
passport to another
world; it is a quality of
perception for this
one. - W.P. Lemon
My mom used to say
that Greek Easter was

you get stuff cheaper.

What the Easter
bunny taught me:
The best things in
life are still sweet

The egg itself promises new life
as in spring, birds, and many other
animals are hatched from eggs. In fact,
the Persians, Hindus and Egyptians
believed that the world began with a
single egg. In ancient China, Rome and
Greece, eggs were given as springtime
gifts.
In Poland and Russia, hours are
spent on drawing intricate designs on
Easter eggs. In England, members of
the royal families gave each other goldcovered eggs as Easter gifts in the
middle ages. The most famous Easter
egg decorator was Peter Carl Faberge.
He designed eggs from gold, silver and
other precious gems for kings of Europe
and czars of Russia.
These eggs are priceless now
and can only be found in museums and
private collections. In early America,
children decorated their eggs by using
dyes made from natural materials like
fruit and leaf coloring.
European legend says that the
hare never closes its eyes and watches
the other animals throughout the night.
It became a symbol of the moon. The
hare is connected with Easter because
the celebration date depends upon the
full moon.
In Egypt, people used to believe
that the rabbit was responsible for the
new life in spring. Later, early Christians
saw it as a symbol for the resurrection
of Christ.
According to an old German
story, a poor woman hid some brightly
colored eggs in her garden as Easter
treats for children. While the children
were searching, a hare hopped past.
The children thought that the hare had
left the eggs.
So every Easter, German
children would make nests of leaves
and branches in their gardens for the
hare. This custom was brought to the
United States when the Germans came.
The hare became a rabbit because
there were more rabbits in the United
States. Today, it is called the Easter
bunny that kids love.

Being able to take care of myself makes me independent.
Getting a job and being able
to balance it with school

The idea of striving for success.
Taking responsibility for my own

Because I earn my own living. You

that makes you dependent.
To me someone is independent when they

So many people struggle
through life,
They try to be something
they’re not;
Just make an effort to
be yourself,
At least that’s what I
was taught.
The more you try to be
someone else,
The more confused you will be;
At times you will find yourself
asking yourself,
My gosh, is this really me?
Sometimes we try to please
our friends,
Our family members and all;
The more we try to keep up
the pretence,
The harder and faster we fall.
We try so hard to put on a front,
And the mask we wear hides
our eye,
The fear and failure thoughts in
our minds; Remain hidden
beneath all the lies.
Then one day the truth comes
marching out,
And your soul is finally free,
Then you can say to the ones
you love;
This is the genuine me.
If I’ve learned one lesson in life,
It’s to place that mask on the shelf;
And instead of trying to be
someone else,
I’ll try harder to just be myself.

On Friday, March 2,
2012, the tiny village
of Moscow, Ohio
was ripped apart by
a tornado. The
tornado measured at
an EF3 on the
Enhanced Fujita
Scale, meaning that
winds reached
between 136 and
165 mph. 70% of the
town was destroyed.
One woman in
Moscow was killed,
and two people in
Bethel were also
killed during the
series of tornados
that struck the tristate that day.
Families huddled in basements,
bathrooms, hallways and any other
place where they could find safety
while debris tore through the air and
structures were leveled. Many homes
were destroyed. The event left dozens
of families homeless, but they hope to
rebuild their lives and start again. In
total, 353 buildings were impacted by
the tornados across the region, 68 of
which were destroyed, causing an
estimated $6 million worth of damage.
Moscow, Ohio was the
most impacted by the
nine tornados that
struck the area on
March 2nd.
Since then, people across the tri-state have been working
together to mend the lives of those who lost everything in the
disaster. Food, clothes and toiletry items have all been
donated to these families. Many people both part of the
community and outside the
community have been
working hard to clean
up the mess that was left
behind by the tornado.

Where do you feel art is going?
I think it’s going places; it’s how
people express them self.
Why is your work so ugly or so
pretty?
Art is always ugly or pretty in its
own way; it’s what makes it unique.
Do you feel good in art like
you’re an advanced student?
Yes, I am an advanced student
When you mess up do you start
over or do you make it blend in
somehow?
Blend, mistakes are good
sometimes.
How did you get in to art?
It’s a way to cope.
Why do you like art?
I can express myself though an outlet that I like.
Do you feel that your art is better than most people’s? Why or why not?
No, because some people put more time in it than I do. I just do it for fun.
What helps you get though the rough spot of art?
I usually scan the Internet and get ideas from there.
There will always be some
form of stress in our lives. There is
really nothing we can do about it,
right? Well that would be wrong
there are lots of things we can do
about it, it’s just a matter of
motivating ourselves enough to do
anything about it.
Some days we may feel like
there isn’t enough time in the day
to get anything done, or that every
step we take forward is knocked
back three. Everyone feels that
way sometimes, and if anyone
says they haven’t, I would ask
what kind of happy medicine they
are on.
There are quite a few ways
that people are able to deal with
stress, for example they identify or
find out what exactly is stressing
them out. A stress journal can help
you identify the regular stressors in
your life and the way you deal with
them. Each time you feel stressed;
keep track of it in your journal.
As you keep a daily log, you
will begin to see patterns and
common themes.
People use multiple unhealthy
way to cope with stress like
smoking and drinking, but they
don’t know that these ways of
coping actually only cause more
problems than what they are worth,
for example smoking raises your
blood pressure and causes
multiple types of cancer. Drinking
will actually damage your frontal
lobe. This next page has some
healthier tips to help with stress.
Avoid the stressor
 Learn how to say no.
 Avoid people who stress you out
 Take control of your
environment
 Avoid hot-button topics
 Pare down to your to-do list
Adapt to the stressor




Reframe problems
Look at the big picture
Adjust your standards
Focus on the positive
Alter the situation




Express how you feel
Be willing to compromise
Be more assertive
Manage your time better
Accept the things you
cannot change
