Progress update for the 2014 ICSA Sloop Match Race Championship Seawanhaka Corinthian YC and Oakcliff Sailing have created a committee to make sure this event is a success. The committee members are below and you will see that the event is in experienced professional hands. The PRO for the event will be Sue Miller who has run many very high level match race regattas including the 2010 ICSA Sloop Match Race Championships held at USMMA at Kings Point, The Knickerbocker Cup (many times) and the Oakcliff International. Both the Knickerbocker Cup and the Oakcliff International are part of the very successful Grand Slam series of grade 2 events. Bruce Cook an International Umpire and International Judge will be the Chief Umpire and has started putting together a list of potential umpires who have expressed interest in serving. This list was submitted to Danielle Richards for review and approval. We have 6 International Umpires and many other strong National Umpires to chose from. Bill Simon, Race Program Director at Oakcliff Sailing, runs 18 or more graded match race events per year from grade 5 through grade 1. Oakcliff Sailing will supply the support boats including the signal, mark and umpire boats. The resources to support a great event will be available. Bill has started work on the NOR based on the template documents and prior years NOR which will be submitted shortly for approval. JP Blaise is representing Seawanhaka Corinthian YC and will be the liaison for this event. He has been the event Chair for multiple international events, most notably the Islands International Challenge Cup which included 6 nations from all over the globe racing on our home waters. He will make sure that the SCYC fleet of identically tuned Sonars and the historic grounds are ready for the Championship. Julian Fisher is the Seawanhaka Corinthian YC Race Committee Chairperson and will work with Bill Simon to make sure that we have plenty of well-‐trained and experienced race committee volunteers. 2014 ICSA MATCH RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
