ART FOR THE PARK
Time to Re-Group, ladies!
Art for the Park 2015 came and
went in 2 days of show times, 2
meetings, 1 year of preparation
and letting our computers do the
rest! The final number are not in
yet, but to date, we are over
$5,000.00 in donations. We are
hoping to match this figure with
community donations.
I would like to thank all the CPCA members who gave of their time,
effort and talents. To the members who came to the sale and the husbands who lent us their “muscle-power” with load-out for the artists. I
would also like to thank the ACC & its staff for their support and in
hosting the event.
I’m very excited to announce the 2016 Chairman, Kim Sherk. Kim will
bring a new dimension, energy and excitement to the AFP 2016. Kim
is already taking in all the shows that are happening around town this
fall.

Thank you to Roger Ward from True Wealth Management for an informative meeting at the home of Chris Cashman.
We discussed checking our credit reports on a regular basis and how to protect personal information on our smart phones and computers. Also, the importance of using unique and
complex passwords for all websites that might contain personal data. Every year, tens of
thousands of people and millions of dollars are lost through identity theft in a world where
the Internet is a gateway for commerce and transactions.
Remember, don't announce travel plans
on social media, do not use open Wi-Fi
and don't put your full name and address on luggage tags!
Savvy Women meet the third Thursday
of every month. If you are not on the
email distribution and would like your
name included please email Donna
Brown at [email protected].

CHARITY SELECTED!
By Julie Lischer
Each year the CPWC board selects a local
women’s and children’s charity to support. For
the current year, the Board and Charity committee selected Communities in Schools of
Marietta and Cobb County (CISMCC). This
multi-faceted organization works predominately in Title 1 schools. Children and families in
need are guided to take advantage of available community resources. Programming includes case management, tutoring, mentoring, early learning,
and Reality U financial literacy. CISMCC is part of a nationwide network
of Communities in Schools affiliates—one of a very small number of dropout-prevention programs in the country proven to keep students in school
and is the only dropout prevention program in the nation with research to
prove that it increases graduation rates.
We are excited to partner with Communities in Schools of Marietta and
Cobb County (CISMCC) this year. Members, friends and neighbors are
invited to our “Valentine’s in Provence” Gala event on February 6, 2016
which will benefit CISMCC. In addition to this large-scale fundraiser, our
members will have the opportunity to get involved with the charity in a
variety of smaller ways.
As we become more familiar with all this non-profit does to help at-risk
kids, our members will undoubtedly grow closer to this cause whose mission is “to surround students with a community of support, empowering
them to stay in school and achieve in life.” To learn more please go
to www.cismcc.org.
One Simple Need
Let’s help gather the 100 Memory Sticks needed for the students ready to graduate this year!

Let’s get to know cismcc!
Communities In Schools of Marietta/Cobb County (CISMCC)
will host their 5th annual luncheon “Students Growing Tomorrow’s Communities” event on Tuesday November 10, 2015 at
11:30am at the Hilton/Atlanta Marietta Conference Center.
Please RVSP to 678-503-0901 or online at http://
www.eventbrite.com/e/communities-in-schools-5th-annualluncheon-tickets-19032568926 by November 3 to attend and
learn about CISMCC together!
This luncheon will celebrate CIS students that are
attending either the Marietta Performance Learning
Center, Cobb County Performance Learning Center
or other area high schools. These students were
once at risk of dropping out of high school but are
now on track to graduate! At the end of the event,
all of the students will receive a “goodie bag” with
complimentary items that will help them to be successful during this academic school year.
“By bringing resources to the schools through the
CIS Model to meet the needs of the children and
remove barriers to success, we change the future for
our children and their families,” said Carol Fey,
Executive Director of CISMCC. “CISMCC looks
forward to the day when every child in Cobb County
is on the road to success in life starting with their
high school diploma.”

RE-STYLED
The evening group had 30 attendees at its meeting on October 20 at the fabulous home of Jane Harm. The program was three-fold,
organized around re-styling yourself.
Rita Ellen's Boutique on Johnson Ferry Road organized a fashion show of great clothes for us. The models were: Pat Smith, Lynn
Thompson, Julie Lischer, Pat Iaffaldano, and Missy Malmberg. Rita Ellen told us the fall have-to-buy list includes anything with
fringe, clothes with a touch of leather, and vests. Her infinity scarves were just the right touch for all the outfits. The fashions included capes, wonderful jeans and pants, pretty knit shirts, reversible raincoats, rainboots, and accessories like sunglasses and necklaces. Go by and treat yourself to a shopping spree at the boutique!
The models also wore necklaces and bracelets fashioned by Julia Wenzell, neighbor, who is a jeweler. Julia brought some of her
designs for our purchase. Long pendants are definitely the "it" factor.
The third component was a presentation on eye
make-up application and skin care by Orly Fuller of
Aloette. Phone Orly at 770-971-5111 or email her
at [email protected]. The website
is www.aloette.com/orly. Some of the ladies did
not receive a catalogue, so Orly asked that I include
this information so they could contact her.
Our November meeting, RE-HERB AND RESPICE YOUR THANKSGIVING will be presented by Delores at Simply Fresh in Paper Mill Village. She will discuss ways to freshen up your traditional meal. The meeting will be at the home of
Cathy Snyder in Rivercliff at 7:00 on November 17.
