Any ideas from the phlock on phun outings are always welcomed. Look at the web page to keep updated on club activities. Scott is doing a phantastic job at keeping it updated. Pictures of activities are always a plus. The board has discussed several options and events for the summer such as a picnic social and possibly the tailgate at the Miner’s ballpark again this year. These As some have noticed, the phlockings have now been moved to the second Monday of each month. The suggestion was made by the membership in the hopes of raising the attendance to the phlockings. Taking it one step farther, since we are the Southern Illinois Parrothead Club, we are going to move meetings around to different communities every so often in hopes of getting more local attention and reduce the The purpose of our Parrothead club is to be a social club that promotes friendships and social activities for people with similar interests including the tropical spirit of Jimmy Buffett’s style of music, Caribbean travel and an island inspired lifestyle. Hopefully winter and cold weather is behind us and it’s time to break out the phlipphlops, flowery shirts, coconut bras and grass skirts for some summer phun. driving distance for other Parrotheads in the club. Future meetings have been planned for Harrisburg and Whittington. Once again, suggestions are always welcomed. In closing, I would like to urge all of our phlock to attend phunctions by our club and sister clubs. There are a lot of great Parties for a Purpose going on in the entire Parrothead organization. Check them out. Listen to some great trop-rock music and maybe get some sand in your phlip-phlops. Until next time, keep the blender full of margaritas and salt water on your pheathers. We started the year with a balance of $3,949.37 & ended with a balance of$3,281.53. Our" 7th trip around the sun", netted $2,350 for the H group to assist with supervised Group housing in our local towns. Our bocce tournament in September netted us $ 500 for Habitat for Humanity. Along with our fundraisers, we were able to host an after Christmas party for our members, as well as a FUN tailgate on Buffet nite @ the Miners ballpark( complete with Chef Tom's awesome burgers & delicious Sangrias prepared by our own, John Plunk. Our major purchase this year was a computer, program & laminator to assist our membership chair in keeping all paid member lists "up to date" & to provide name tags for all new members. bers are aware that the club wants to continue to provide a memorial to honor any close family members lost. It actually is a really fun event and with lots of phlockers we can be done in less than 2 hours. We will meet at the corner of Rt. 13 and Rt. 166 at 10:00 A.M. Rumor has it the phlocker that finds the drunken parrot will win a very valuable prize that is priceless. Afterwards we head to Lafiesta in Marion for lunch and Margaritas. I would suggest wearing a bright colored shirt or purchase a cheap orange hunting vest and gloves. Invite your friends, family or anyone that would like to participate. The more people we have the quicker this will go. Who will find the drunken Parrot? Membership Minute Thanks to everyone that has renewed your membership for 2015. Your continued support helps SIPHC raise much needed funds for various groups in need. I am currently working to update our email list and new members should be getting your badges soon. If you know anyone who likes the laid back island style and loves to contribute to the community please encourage them Page 2 to attend a meeting and see what our club is all about. Uncle Si from Duck Dynasty made a surprise visit also. We hope to have more socials in the future with various trop rock musicians passing thru the area. These socials are a great way to hear some very talented musicians. BUFFET BITS A little known fact about singer/ songwriter Jimmy Buffett is that Jimmy lost his cell phone on May 28, 2005, at Brisa Atlantica, a Cuban restaurant in Delray Beach, Fla. Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, George Clooney, Bill Gates and Harrison Ford were among the high-profile entries in Buf- APRIL 2015 fett's contact list on his Sony Ericsson phone.
