MARCH 2014 March is not starting out well....this cold snap we are caught in just seems to be a never ending thing. The future forecast doesn't look all that great either! At least we have a few things to do this month, this past weekend was the 62nd annual Autorama and coming up is a NEW event at the Suburban Collection showplace March 22-23 2014 is the Motor City Hot Rod & Racing Expo. This could be an interesting show to go to? It is also a good time to start on or finish up on any of those projects you had for your Camaro. Spring will get here, just not as fast as we want it to! See you all soon and stay warm. Sincerely, Randy "Doc" Martin CAMARO MEMORIUM EMCC MARCH MEETING EMCC MEETING REPORT Our next regular meeting will on MONDAY, MARCH 17, 2014. The meeting will be at Papa Romano's in Plymouth. Located on Ann Arbor Rd, between Main St and Lilley. Our reservation is for 6:30pm and the meeting starts at 7:30pm. Our meeting IS on St. Patrick’s Day... and we figured not too many Irish would be doing Italian, so we should be OK crowd-wise. See you there!! EMCC WEBSITE!! MEMBERSHIP NEWS We had no new members at the last EMCC meeting. THANKS to the many that have renewed your EMCC membership!! 2014 EMCC membership stands at 42 members! Thanks for being an EMCC member. We had a very lightly attended meeting in February. It could have been the predicted 3-5” of snow that did start while we were at the meeting. Driving home was... fun! We went over activities for the coming month and had a CSF report. Thanks for attending if you did and we hope to see you at the next EMCC meeting on March 17! 23rd Annual CAMARO SUPERFEST 2014 July 4-5-6, 2014 Riverside Park, Ypsilanti, MI, USA Our sponsorship list is growing and we say THANK-YOU to these sponsors that have signed onDiamond Sponsor Bill Crispin Chevrolet Gold Sponsor Canton Waste Recycling Monster Clutch SNL Performance Silver sponsor National Parts Depot Lingenfelter Collection SLP Performance Bronze sponsor Rick’s Camaro Parts Cruis’News magazine The Bicycle Doctor Livernois Motorsports Cuda Automotive YES, we’ve added a few more since last month – THANKS to all of our sponsors! REGISTRATION is OPEN!! While we were a month late, it has not diminished enthusiasm for CSF! We had 43 online registrations in 24 hours! Also in that 43, we have 5 states and Canada already represented! We’ve even received several mail-in registrations already. As of this writing – we are at 71 registrations!! The official flyers are also printed and mailed to those we do not have an email for. We also passed out many at the recent Autorama. Come to an EMCC meeting and get yourself a stack to start passing out too!! Congrats to EMCC member John Worbel who was registration #1 and EMCC member Susie Weeks, who was 1st online and #2 overall. We already have registrations from 6 states and Canada! Our event schedule isFriday, July 4th, MIS for parade laps and photos! Friday night we are at Depot Town. Saturday, July 5, regular show at Riverside Park. At night we are returning to the Lingenfelter Collection, we will have food available but not part of the fee to attend, thus more participants can attend. JETS Pizza will be there serving/selling pizza by the slice and refreshments. Sunday, July 6 is the wrap-up at Riverside Park. Our CHARITY is the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation of Michigan. Like last year, this is an EMCC member request from Chuck and Roxanne England, as Roxanne is affected by MS. Our 2014 theme is Camaro Unsung Heros, the 4 and 6 cyl powered Camaros! We’ll have special judging classes for these cars. SPECIAL NEED – we will need 1 or 2 EMCC members to be at Riverside Park on Friday, during the day to assist in the set-up of our vendors, tents, port-a-jons. If you are not interested in attending the MIS function, this would be a good way to help CSF! Remember- Camaro Superfest 2014 is only 5 months away!! EMCC DUES PAST DUE! If you have NOT paid your EMCC dues for 2014, this IS your LAST newsletter!!! Please rejoin EMCC! SPECIAL EMCC B-DAY We have a very special Happy Birthday this month! A HUGE Congratulations to EMCC member Tom Tomkiewicz, who celebrated his 80th birthday on Saturday, March 1st. Several EMCC members made it to his party, put on by one of his nieces. It was GREAT!! Tom is also one of our longest members, having joined in 2000 or 2001! Many happy returns to Tom and many more to come!! EMCC BIRTHDAYS! Happy Birthday to all our March birthday members... Tom Tomkiewicz............ Mar 1 Connie Golenek............ Mar 10 Robert Lawrence........... Mar 11 Tom Golenek............... Mar 12 Sheryl Neibert ........... Mar 13 Grant Hamilton............ Mar 24 Julie Stalnaker........... Mar 28 Hope all your birthdays are great! If we have missed your birthday, we’re sorry! Please email your birthdays to Randy!! FROM THE Vice-Pres… COOL... a great start to CSF for this year as registration opened and they started pouring in! BIG THANKS to Matt and Sam for their work on the website and registration pages!! So we’re off and running.....! Hopefully all the snow will be gone by May, as we have a couple of good events during that month. The traditional EMCC “dust-off” has been the Yspi Street Rod show at Riverside Park on the first Sunday of the month. Attendance has been light. That is why I have suggested that perhaps the Camaro show at Rogers Chevrolet a week later might bring out more EMCC members! We’ll decide at the next meeting. Actually, BOTH event are worthy of attending. With Spring on the doorstep, some of us are already looking at Summer and what our activities schedule might be. There are MANY worth-while car events to attend. MANY are Camaro events, as shown in the list further on in the HUGGER. Perhaps at the next meeting, we’ll look at these and try to come-up with an “official” EMCC schedule. Maybe I’ll be blasted for this thought... but as I write this, we’re only 9.6” from the all time record snowfall for the Detroit area. I say... let’s break it!! I hope to see you at some of our meetings and activities. We had about 9 members attend, but we did not get a real chance to see the show together. Some went early, some got there a bit late. In the end, many went to Nemo’s for drinks and a snack. The show was pretty good and many CSF flyers were passed out! BIG THANKS to Kristen Lingenfelter and Lingenfelter Performance for allowing us to have some CSF flyers at their display! There was even a slight discussion on the possibilities of EMCC having a display next year. Would you participate? A display of 6-8 (or more – one of each body style?) would be pretty awesome! Chevy has developed a new version of the brand’s iconic bowtie that improves the performance of its upcoming Camaro Z/28 by simply pretending that it’s not there. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/201 4/03/05/chevrolet-camaro-z28flowtie-is-stylish-speed-secret/ The Chevy Camaro Z/28 Is The First Car That Wants You To Fly After watching Back to the Future Part II, you were prepared to be disappointed. 2015 is next year and there are still no flying cars, hoverboards, or plastic ties. But that's about to change.
