So you’ve got your gowns, venue &
photographer organised… what now?
FLOWERS! When it comes to flowers
the best thing you can do to help us
understand what you want is to have
a look through Pinterest, Instagram,
Facebook, Bridal blogs & magazines
to find ideas and inspiration to form
the theme and colour scheme of your
wedding. These days in the wedding
industry, it’s all about listening to
what the Bride wants. If the wedding
professional is not listening to you,
find someone who will - your wedding
is about you.
When it comes time for your Flower
Consultation you can communicate
your style a number of ways. If
Pinterest is your thing, make up a
secret Pinboard and share it with
us. If you prefer to look through
magazines, bring along clippings or
the magazines. If you have printouts
or photos on your phone/tablet, that’s
great too! Bring along or email us
as much information as possible so
that we’re ready to go during your
consultation.
What is also great to bring along
are any fabric swatches you have,
engagement or wedding invitations,
photos of the gowns, finer details you
would like to personalise your day,
styling ideas you have, questions you
have - even if it’s not floristry related,
we may be able to help or guide you in
the right direction.
After the consultation we will create
a comprehensive Wedding Florals
Proposal for you, this is the start of
the conversation to make sure that
we understand your vision. Please let
us know if you would like to change
anything at all as this is not a problem
- we want to get it right for you.

Is it just us or is there only so many paperweights and miniature
photo frames one can handle as a bomboniere whilst celebrating the
unity of loved ones?! We found some pretty cool and unique gifts to
say thank you to your guests that are guaranteed to not be left on the
table at the end of the night.
SWEET HEALTH
Sweet Health was founded by Debbie McCulloch
(with her husband/accounts clerk/IT support/
person to blame) assisting. Debbie has always
been a keen baker and has worked for over 20
years as a nanny. In 2011 Debbie envisaged an
idea to create an original cookie mix presented
in a glass milk bottle. Each bottle is hand layered
and dressed to create an attractive product that
also tastes great.
Sweet Health started small, selling exclusively
in markets around Sydney. After a year Debbie
expanded into shopping centers and boutique
online stores, adding new products such as
mason jars and gift boxes. She also started
making smaller bottles suitable for wedding and
party favours.
The small bottles are a fun and unique
bomboniere for your wedding guests. You can
choose the classic chocolate chip cookie or the
fun rainbow cookie mix. There is also a delectable
hot chocolate mix available as well.

coco & bean
Coco & Bean was founded in 2010, from Angela’s
passion to create beautiful sweets made with the
finest of natural ingredients. Inspired by French
patisserie shop windows and the delicious petite
sweets that fill them, Angela draws on vintage
recipes made with traditional methods, to create
simply gorgeous handmade treats that will
alight anyone’s palate. Coco & Bean is a local
boutique bakery, with a loyal customer base and
a reputation for the most amazing quality baked
sweets and confections.
Their signature Belgian Chocolate Brownies and
French Macarons make a delicious thank you gift
that all your guests will love. These delectable
sweet treats are available in a range of flavours,
and the french macarons can even be colour
matched to suit your theme.
Presented in a choice of beautiful packaging
options, such as linen textured gift boxes, clear
window gift boxes or the beautiful glass gift
jar, each gift favour comes complete with coordinating ribbon. Customised gift tags and labels
can also be provided to add a personalised touch
to your wedding favour.

THE VINTAGE
TEA LADY
Catherine, the owner of The Vintage Tea Lady
sources organic tea from a single origin plantation
in Sri Lanka. What does this mean? Catherine
knows exactly where the tea was grown and
that it has not been blended with other teas. It is
pure in its origin. The wholesaler where the tea is
from gives back to the plantation communities by
funding health care, housing and education.
The tea is packaged into beautiful little tins which
contain 20gm loose leaf tea. Or if you prefer a
larger favour, there is a refill 50gm pack. Using The
Vintage Tea Lady logo and custom fonts as the base
design, the label can be customised with a message
to your guests or your names and wedding date.
The Vintage Tea Lady can also use your image for
the label background such as an engagement shot
or a favourite place with a customised message.
The organic range is available in green and black
tea. There are several varieties of non organic;
including chai, peppermint, berry, lemongrass and
ginger.

DIY Bomboniere:
potted succulent
A step by step guide to creating this petite and sweet Bomboniere as
a simple way to say thank you to your Wedding guests.
INGREDIENTS:
•small succulents
•succulent soil
(purchased from your local garden centre)
•small jar or container
(we purchased our small jam jars
from ozfarmers.com.au)
•pebbles or small rocks
(from your local garden centre
or discount store)
•water
•tooth picks for thank you sign
•double sided tape or glue
•scissors
•specialty paper to print thank you sign
(FREE printable on the next page!)
•ribbon to decorate
METHOD:
1. Clean and prepare your jars. It’s important to clean the jars as
sometimes they have a slimy film on them. Clean and allow to dry for
24 hours.
2. Separate and clean your succulents. Remove from pot as
purchased and gently tap excess soil from the roots and lay the plant
out. Repeat for the amount of bombonieres you are making.
3. Fill the jar with succulent soil until it’s approximately 7/8 full.
4. Create a small well with your finger and place the succulent in the
hole. Push succulent soil around the plant base so it’s firm in the soil.
5. Place rocks around the plant to cover the soil.
6. Mist the succulent with water and continue to mist once a week in
the lead up to the Wedding.
7. Print our template onto speciality paper. We have used a heavy off
white linen card. Fold and cut to remove the soft grey lines.
8. Glue or use double side tape on the inside of the tag. Place the
toothpick in the fold and fold the tag over, pressing tightly with your
fingers and running it along the seams.
9. Tie the decorative ribbon around the middle of the jar and stick the
sign into the rocks and your bomboniere is ready to go!

props, place cards, etc. we offer an all
inclusive set up service from $250,
which includes time allocated to
discuss your needs and how to best
achieve your desired result on the day.
Styling Proposal Service
Our new service! Often our gorgeous
brides want to personalise their
wedding themselves, but with no prior
experience they often make design
mistakes which leads to money being
spent on areas that have zero impact,
minor details overlooked (like placing
the name cards!), inappropriate
props, not understanding the reality of
proportions & scale. etc. To guide you in
the right direction we can sit with you
and go over those smaller details and
advise what will work best, recommend
what will work and offer ideas that you
may never have though of.

professional design backgrounds

an understanding of Design Principles

experience, we’ve seen it all!
We always recommend hiring a
professional planner or stylist, but
if you do decide to do it yourself,
we can help guide you in the right
direction for $250. This includes a
dedicated styling consultation, a site
visit if required & a brief with our
recommendations with a mood board
if appropriate.

on expressing what it is you’d like to
achieve with your wedding and we
will do our very best to make those

The Wedding Cake should be one of the fun things to do when you’re planning your Wedding. Stuffing yourself
silly with delicious flavour combinations and tackling life’s tough ultimatums - fondant or buttercream?
But what if you suffer from a food allergy or you’re gluten free? Nicci Peverill of Cupcakes in Camden
offers sound insight into creating special dietary Wedding Cake Stories for the gluten, dairy free and vegan.
you can have your
and eat it too!
What flavours are best for GF, DF
cakes? I can adapt receipes to suit both
dietary requirements and can offer
most flavours.
Whether its a dark or light cake choice
I can do a switch up on a receipe. I don’t
like being limited to just a few flavours.
When it comes to weddings you should
be able to have your own unique flavour
or old time favourite so thats what I aim
to do.
Even if the wedding cake doesn’t need to
be GF or DF I can always organise mini
cakes or cupcakes for special dietary
guests so they too are catered for. I
think its a given these days!
Is there any difference in taste and
texture with GF/DF/SF cakes and
normal ones? I have adapted receipes
to ensure the cakes are very moist and
have developed some of my own flour
blends. Alot of people say....Gluten free,
you’re kidding, I would never have
known! There can be a taste difference
coloured and wooden stands, tiered
stands, crates, trays and even an old
singer sewing table. I love to think
outside the square and the setting is
so important in telling the story and
creating that cake theatre for the
They are wanting fresh flowers and not
alot of fuss. Im creating alot of cakes
with baked treats to accompany their
dessert tables. Deconstructed cakes
stories are still popular as are semi
naked finishes. Butter cream is still
right on trend.
What’s your favourite flavour
combination? I’m always creating
flavours, researching and testing the
boundaries. If u can get the unexpected
to work well then often you get a
glorious cake invention!. Raspberry
has always been a winning flavour
component as you can marry it up
with other fruits, chocolate, coconut,
just about anything and the pops of
this gorgeous colour in cakes looks and
tastes delicious!.
What kind of props can be hired from
C in C? I have a range of traditional
sometimes particular if you use flours
like rice flour which I tend to stay away
from. I work with very fine flours and
fold very lightly by hand. Most of my
wedding cakes are mixed by hand.
What are the current trends your
finding in Wedding & Engagement
Cakes? Couples are going back to basics,
beautiful flavours, rustic, simple and
organic.

guests! Couples often like to add in their
own props, photos or a simple quote. I
take care of all that styling and set up on
the day.
Do you make anything else that is GF/
DF? Yes I bake all sorts of baked goods
that are not GF, DF, like whole cakes,
baked donuts, brownies and alot of mini
cakes. Eclairs are one of my specialities
too!
Are there any future developments for
C in C? This year I am expanding to be
able to offer more volume for corporate
and cafe projects. We are creating a new
C in C workshop with lots of space for
me to keep more products on hand. I
have a particular interest in growing
my range of GF and DF cakes and baked
goods. There are already alot of people
who enjoy my baked goods locally and
people who are travelling a distance
for them. So I will keep evolving in this
area....wedding work is a big passion
too and I love meeting with couples
and hearing their own story. This is
certainly the heart of my business.

Photography Angus Porter
real love:
How did you & Tim meet?
I initially knew of Tim from his sister
and a very good friend, Audrey. Our
first meeting was in their lounge room
where I was hanging out with Audrey
and the only words he spoke-- in a
very plain and monotone manner
was “Hi”. Years later we met again at
university when he did a year-long
research stint in a laboratory where I
was doing my PhD.
How did Tim propose?
I always envisioned my proposal story
to be extremely romantic with Tim
and myself wearing our best clothes
and looking our very best for postengagement photo opportunity, but
life is full of surprises!
After starting my first real job postPhD, Tim insisted that we celebrate
my survival of my first week of work
and our 3.5 years together. I asked
24

whether I had to wear something nice
and he said “just casual clothes”. We
drove to the Sydney Observatory Hill
but I was oblivious to what was going
to happen because I had a very casual
sweater and jeans on, I was wearing
my glasses and no make-up at all! He
then asked whether we can go for a
walk towards the gazebo overlooking
the Harbour bridge. When we got there
he asked me to turn around and when
I did, he was on his knee holding a box
with a very sparkly ring. Even before
Tim could say anything, I inundated
him with a lot of questions including
“Are you serious?”, “Is this for real?”,
“Did you try to ask for a discount on
that ring?”. After answering all my
questions, Tim proposed and this
was followed by a lot of squealing and
jumping. We did get a post-engagement
photo opportunity when we ambushed
some tourists and asked them to take
our photo!
How long did it take to plan your
Wedding?
We got engaged about a year before
the wedding but we did not start
planning until 8-9 months before the
wedding day.
How would you describe the style of
your Wedding?
Romantic but also edgy. We had

my blush dress and ivory dresses of
the bridesmaids while deep burgundy
ribbons and flowers acted as an accent
for a pop of colour. I guess the trick is
to know the balance between having
something that is way too different
yet still look elegant and timeless and

a traditional wedding but we also
wanted some elements of the
wedding to be more creative, unique
and original. For example, I wore
a blush dress (with pockets!), my
beautiful bridesmaids wore ivory, we
had sequined table runners for the
reception and we had unconventional
choices of flowers for the day. There
wasn’t an exact theme or style per
se, but my husband says the theme
seems to be “All of Danica’s favourite
things”. Haha.
Where did you draw inspiration from?
Pinterest and bridal websites were
the first places I looked for inspiration,
but I could not really pinpoint exactly
what I wanted. When Sherry of Sherry
bridal couture showed me a sketch
of my wedding dress, I knew she was
the right person to make it! I took the
sketch to my meeting with Jennie of
Merci Bouquet and showed her photos
of flower arrangements and colour
palettes that I like. We both got really
excited (and carried away) that we
brainstormed ideas of pretty much
the whole style of the wedding! I think
that my wedding dress and the flowers
were the starting point for the rest of
the wedding design. I was fortunate
to have worked with talented and
creative wedding vendors that were
very happy to share their ideas and
thoughts in making my wedding day
even more beautiful.

What was the colour palette for your
big day?
Gold, blush, peach, ivory and
burgundy for a pop of colour!
How important was the
incorporation of flowers into your
Wedding?
Very important- it was the initial
inspiration and also tied the wedding
“theme”. Although the wedding was
mainly traditional, the flowers is
where I thought I can be more creative
and I can push the boundaries.
Although babies breathe and roses are
just as lovely, I wanted the flowers to
be non-traditional. I loved the look of
Australian natives and I am always on
the look out for interesting elements
in flower arrangements.
My bouquet and the bridesmaids’
had a variety of Australian flora that
added texture to the bouquets mixed
with traditional wedding flowers to
soften the look of Australian natives.
The groomsmen had gum nuts and
succulents, both unusual picks for
boutonnieres. The texture from the
flowers tied well with the sequinned
table runner which I used for the
reception tables. We also had dried
lotus pods spray-painted with gold
(what a unique and excellent idea!)
to tie with the gold-leafed boutonniere
for Tim and the gold table runners.
The blush and ivory flowers matched
With your flowers, did you have a
very clear and concise idea of what
you wanted?
I went to my first meeting with
Merci Bouquet with some ideas for
my wedding day flowers but I was
also open to her suggestions. My
knowledge of flowers is not that
great so I was happy to rely on Merci
Bouquet with their suggestions on
what will work well with my theme,
what flowers and foliages match, what
flowers can fit our budget, etc.
When booking vendors for your
Wedding, what was it that you were
looking for in the services that were
being provided?
For any wedding vendors, it is
important that they cared. We didn’t
want our wedding vendors to feel
that our wedding day is another run
of the mill event that they need to
work on. It was important that they
understood what we are after and
respected that our wedding day was a
special day to us. We are very grateful
that we were well-looked after by our
wedding vendors who went above
and beyond to help us and make our
wedding day very special.
Any advice for future Brides?
I read this once from one of the
many bridal websites I visited while
planning the wedding: “The most
beautiful brides are the happy ones”.
Things may go wrong and may not
go according to plan on the wedding
day- guests may come in late, the
centre pieces may be 2 inches out of
line but the important thing is to enjoy
the wedding day. After all, the most
important part is not the wedding day
itself, but life after that.

FAQ.
Why do you charge a consultation
& quoting fee?
I take as much time as required to chat
to you and make sure
I understand your vision, additionally
I take a lot of time preparing a detailed
& itemised visual quote for you. I also
like to make sure that before I take
these hours away from my little boy
and other business matters that the
brides are serious about the possibility
of me providing their flowers. The $40
comes off the total cost when the date
is confirmed.
Why do we have to meet for a
consult, can’t we just communicate
via email?
I want you to trust me and I believe
this can only happen during a
meeting. At the shop we can play
with the flowers and items to help the
communication process along. I want
to make sure I 100% understand your
vision and needs, and it’s the most
efficient way to make sure everything
is covered.
What if I’m not 100% sure
about the quote?
I take time to create a detailed quote
to make sure we’re on the same page,
so please let me know if you’d like to
change anything at all. I want to get it
right for you.
ISSUE THREE
Available for download from 1st October.
Why do the bouquets cost
what they do?
Simply because of the labour involved,
it takes me approximately 1 hour to
make each bouquet. Your bouquet is
so much more important and special
than a normal flower bouquet and
this is how we treat it. I also buy extra
so that you only get the best quality
flowers in your bouquets.
Do you deliver and install
the flowers?
Yes, I can take care of all the delivery,
installation & retrieval of the flowers,
saving you and your loved ones from
worrying about it.
Why does the delivery fee cost
what it does?
I really care about your wedding and
so I don’t ‘drop & run’ if I need to
attach corsages and buttonholes, then
that is my pleasure! I also use a lot of
packing material and it takes a while
to package your precious bouquets so
safely.
The minimum charge for bridal
flowers $35, venue delivery of $35,
venue pickup of $25 and $10 for the
buttonholes. Additional charging is
calculated at $1p/km plus any tolls
or special packaging that may be
required. Surcharges apply for public
holidays and outside normal trading
hours. If you decide to pick up your
bridal flowers, there is a charge of $25
to cover packing time and packaging
(this is included in the delivery fee).
Can I come back for a
follow up meeting?
Absolutely! Once the order has been
confirmed I welcome a second meeting
closer to the date. Mock up designs can
be arranged at the clients expense,
although accuracy depends on the
type of flowers available at the time.
Can you match other florists’ prices?
No, my prices are fair and well
considered for the service I provide. I
can adjust the designs for your budget
though. You are paying not just for
flowers, but for my creativity, time,
experience and skill and I take great
care.
Can I change my mind?
Yes you can! It’s your day and there’s
so much inspiration available! Just let
me know asap and I’ll adjust the order
for you and email it back for your
confirmation. Easy! I just ask that no
changes be made in the final month.
Can I hire decorative items
from you?
Absolutely! I have a small range of
items available and a network of
local businesses that have the most
gorgeous props & hire items available.
You only have to deal with one person
then – easier than two, three or four.
