Week 1 Term 3 - Thursday 17th July, 2014
Visit our website at: www.stgeorges.vic.edu.au
Welcome back! - We welcome back Mrs. Watt and Ms. Cobbledick from long service leave and
look forward to Mrs. Reilly returning on the 28th of July. We are looking forward to hearing all
about Mrs. Souter’s adventures when she arrives back from long service leave. We have had a
great start to term 3 with a calm and orderly learning environment. Visiting all the classrooms,
there is an exciting buzz of learning going on already. We have lots of special events planned
this term like the Music is Fun Band, Life Education Van with Healthy Harold and Winter sports,
just to name a few. In week 9, the grades 4-6 will put on a production for the whole school
community. We are looking forward to these special events!
Curriculum Day – Monday, July 21st is a Pupil Free Day for all students - Our teachers
combined with Gowrie St. and Wilmot Rd staff will be working with professor Peter Sullivan
from Monash University on Mathematics with a focus on
measurement.
The Out of School Hours Care program will be running if you need a
place for your child. Please book in with Pasqua, Lisa and Lyn. Pasqua
will have a fun day planned!
The Out of School Hours Care Program recently had an assessment and
review. The program received an excellent review rating over the
holidays, meeting all the National Requirement Standards. Their
highest rating was in Relationships with Children exceeding the
requirements. We are fortunate to have this onsite program.
Prep Enrolments for 2015 - We have commenced our enrolment intake for Preps in 2015. Any
children commencing school at SGRPS in 2015 need to register their details at the Front Office
and complete an enrolment form. We collect a copy of the Birth Certificate or Passport,
Immunisation Records, Medicare and Healthcare cards. For more information, please contact
Helen at the front desk.
Arthur Mawson Preschool enrolments - Any families with 4 year olds wanting to register at
Arthur Mawson need to lodge their application now at COGS. We have more information at
the front office.
Dressing for the weather - It has been particularly cold these last few days. Please ensure that
your child is in full school uniform. Jumpers, scarfs, beanies and windcheaters can be
purchased from the uniform shop, just see Kaye or Helen at the desk and they will be happy to
help you. An order form is attached.
Fitness Track - Not long now before the fitness track is installed. The Junior School Council are
looking forward to the first phase happening this term. Thanks Mrs. Stothart for organising the
installation and Mrs. Farrar for helping the JSC get this project going this year!
Ceil Morris— Assistant Principal

Kinder Enrolments for 2015
Do you have a child ready for Kinder in 2015?
If your child turns four years of age before April 30, 2015, they may be ready to commence
Kinder in 2015. To enrol your child in Kinder for next year you need to:

Collect and complete a 2015 Kindergarten Central Enrolment form from the Greater
Shepparton City Council, or your child’s early childhood service.

Return the completed form to the Great Shepparton City Council in Welsford Street
Shepparton, before July 31st 2014.
It is extremely important to submit your child’s application for Kinder by the due date, to
give them the best chance of a place in your preferred Kindergarten. If you’re unsure about
your child’s readiness for Kinder, please speak to their early childhood provider or Maternal
and Child Health nurse. For more information on the Greater Shepparton Kinder enrolment

Grade 1 and 2s’ Dinosaurs Visit
The grades 1 and 2s’ would like to thank Billy Parker for coming and giving us a talk on
dinosaurs. We enjoyed his knowledge and enthusiasm on the topic. We learnt about
different types of dinosaurs like Herbivores and Carnivores, as well as evolution and
extinction. We appreciated being able to have a look at different fossils and receiving small
dinosaurs toys.
