Taavi Soininvaara, born 1966, former legal director at large Finnish
shipbuilding corporations, now earns a living as a writer. Soininvaara’s
thrillers delved into current issues around international politics, the economy
and crime, and soon claimed an
indisputable position in the highest
ranks of the genre in Finland. The
third part of the Arto Ratamo-series,
The Revenge Commission (2002) was
named Best Crime Novel of the Year by
the Finnish Crime Authors’ Association.
Soininvaara has also introduced another
protagonist to the readers, Leo Kara
