Poricy Park Summer Camp 2015
CHOOSE PORICY PARK CONSERVANCY SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS BECAUSE…
Children are naturally curious and creative. They’re into everything.
But with time, some of that may fade. Gradually, a fear of mistakes
and their consequences can start to grow.
CAMP PORICY IS A PLACE WHERE FEAR GOES ON VACATION replaced with a growing
spirit of exploration. Every year, we see the camp experience fire campers’
imaginations and literally change their way of relating to learning.
This is no accident. We use imaginative themes to draw campers into a week full of
hands-on art, science and outdoor activities. The themes are adapted to be
irresistibly engaging for three age groups:
•
Tadpoles: 3yrs - 4 ½ yrs
•
Froglets: entering Kindergarten or 1st grade
Frogs: entering 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th grade
•
Tadpoles = 3-4 ½ yr olds
Our youngest campers enjoy a cozy camper to staff &
counselor ratio of 4:1. We shower them with guidance and
attention, and draw them out with enticing activities.
Froglets = Entering Kindergarten or 1st grade
We maintain a snug 5:1 camper to staff & counselor
ratio, even as Froglets begin to think and act more
independently. We encourage Froglets to stretch
their understanding of artistic and scientific concepts
throughout their activities.
Frogs = Entering 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th grade
While keeping a max of 5:1 camper to staff &
counselor ratio, the Frogs immerse themselves in
more complex activities that stretch their creativity
and powers of deduction. They use scientific tools
with increasing independence and come together
fluidly to tackle challenges as a team.
