F Series F Series F Series
F Series
The original Wide-Lite floodlight provides more uniform
lighting and maintains it longer than any other floodlight.
There are many measures of a floodlight
installation. Initial cost and footcandles are two
of them. But, uniform illumination is more
important than raw footcandles because fewer
footcandles can do the same job when lighting
is highly uniform. Which, of course, saves
equipment, installation and energy costs.
And how long a floodlight maintains its original
lighting performance is more important than
its initial cost. Long term stability preserves
the benefits of the original lighting design and reduces
upkeep and replacement costs.
It’s precisely in the area of lighting uniformity and long term
stability that our F Series has no equals. This floodlight owes
its superior performance to its optical assembly, segmented
reflector system, rugged die-cast construction and premiumgrade ballast–features that aren’t available in anyone else’s
product–reasons our F Series floodlight outperforms
competition.
Smooth, maintained lighting because...
A: The reflector is segmented and utilizes
high purity anodized aluminum with an
inorganic dielectric coating providing a
minimum reflectivity of 95%.
B: Patented “Stabilux” socket grips the
glass end of the lamp and assures precise
focus while protecting the floodlight from
shock and vibration.
C: The entire optical enclosure is
covered with reflector material, which
enhances efficiency and smoothness.
D: The sealed optical assembly locks
out dust and corrosion; assures
maximum efficiency.
H
B
A
E: The tempered glass lens is practically unbreakable,
giving maximum protection to the lamp.
F: The removable socket assembly allows easy relamping
from below without re-aiming and permits the lens assembly
to remain tightly sealed with machine screws.
G: Die-cast cooling fins and separation of lamp and ballast
heat make operation cooler and extend lamp and ballast
life.
H: Die-cast body will last at least as long as the floodlight’s
mounting structure.
I: Separate but integral ballast is high power factor,
encapsulated for long life, quiet operation and mechanical
stability; designed for -20°F starting temperature for Metal
Halide and -40°F for High Pressure Sodium.

Outstanding performance has made the F-Series
the industry standard for general floodlighting
applications. Reflector flexibility provides smooth
and controlled illumination.

Marine Listed & Hazardous
Location Floodlight
Application
Versatility
In addition to the basic F model which
gives superior performance under
standard conditions, the MF/HAZ* model
is available for use in hostile environments.
This floodlight has special construction
features that qualify it for “non-standard”
applications.
These floodlights are recommended when
the application is either hazardous or
subject to high moisture or both. 400 and
1000 watt HID models are available. They
are UL listed for Marine 1598A standards
and meet U.S. Coast Guard specifications. Copper content is less than .4%
for harsh coastal or industrial environments. A sealing conduit, coupling
and conduit fitting, and a sealed wiring compartment are standard.
*For Class 1, Division 2 hazardous locations Groups A, B, C and D and for
marine applications.
F Series floodlights are
available with a choice of four
reflector patterns. All
standard 400, 1000 and 1500
watt HID lamps, clear or
coated, may be used.
Special Coatings & Lenses
F Series with Shock
Mounting Bracket (SMB)
Wide-Lite HID fixtures with special coatings and lenses
have been successfully used in very harsh environments
such as paper mills, chemical and petrochemical facilities,
mining operations and marine applications throughout
the U.S. and in many foreign locations. Our fixtures with
these special options have often been used to replace
ordinary industrial fixtures quickly decimated by highly
corrosive and abrasive conditions.
Wide-Lite has considerable experience with other special
measures to keep lighting fixtures working in very hostile
environments, and we invite you to consult with our
specialists in this area.
UltraClad Polyester
Standard finish shall be gray Ultra-Clad polyester powder
coating, 2.5 mil nominal thickness, electrostatically applied
and oven cured.

F Series
The Life of an F Series Floodlight is measured in Decades...
Encapsulated
Ballast
Superior protection from
moisture and corrosion as well
as excellent heat
dissipation enables the
ballast to run cooler than
a typical open core and
coil. Almost 50 years of
testing and experience has
resulted in Wide-Lite’s unique
SilentGuard® method of encapsulating
ballasts. For ease of access, typically
maintained HID system components
such as capacitors, starting aids and
controls equipment are installed free of
encapsulation.
Sealed Optical
Assembly
Tempered glass lens is
permanently sealed to the
optical assembly by a lens
frame with an extruded gasket
and secured by stainless steel
screws. A gasketed and
removable socket assembly
allows re-lamping from below
without disturbing the fixture
aiming.
Stabilux Socket
An insulated retainer
supports the glass end of
the lamp. This provides
precise photometric alignment within
the reflector and prevents breakage
due to shock and vibraion.
Reflector System
F Series floodlights are provided with multi-faceted segmented optics that
utilize the highest reflective material available – imported “Super Sheet” with
an inorganic dielectric coating. This extra bright material is created with a dual
oxide coating process that results in an extremely uniform sheet providing a
minimum reflectivity of 95%. These optical systems are not only tremendously
efficient, but also provide better lighting control and cooler operation.
Rust-Ban®
A two-part gray epoxy-based coating consisting of a primer and a heavy-build finish
coat. It resists crude oils, gases, alkalies and refined petroleum products. It is not
recommended where acids or other strong oxidizing solutions are present.
Silastic®
A flexible gray coating with excellent release properties. It protects fixtures from
corrosion due to acid concentrations like those that might be found in fertilizer and
chemical plants. Silastic® coating is sprayed on and air-cured after the fixture is
assembled thereby forming a protective membrane.
Teflon® Bonded to Glass
This special lens is made by bonding Teflon film to a conventional glass lens. The film will, for
example, eliminate glass etching from fluoride gas. It has been successfully used in phosphate
mining and other corrosive and abrasive environments. These unique lenses are also of special
value in any application where ease of cleaning is an important factor, such as food processing,
meat packing and outdoor applications where the lens becomes virtually self-cleaning.
