Save A Dog
Save A Dog 7th Annual Benefit Auction About Save A Dog Save A Dog, Inc. is a non-profit humane society, founded in 1999, whose mission is to save abandoned dogs from euthanasia. Every year millions of dogs are put to sleep because of pet overpopulation. Our goal is to try to save as many lives as we can by utilizing both volunteers and supporters who are inspired to help. We provide our rescued dogs with loving care, a holistic protocol, medical care, and a place to stay while we are searching for adoptive homes for them. Two days after last year’s benefit Auction, we moved into our new location in Sudbury and immediately brought 14 dogs in from the cold. This kicked off a banner year that allowed us to nearly double the number of lives saved. Our prime location offers our rescued dogs the visibility they need in order to find homes more quickly, thus making room for dogs in need. The new facility includes a kennel with 13 runs, 3 play yards, and a puppy room as well as a house with a Meet-and-Greet room where potential adopters can meet the dog of their dreams in a comfortable setting. While we still depend on our volunteer foster families, the shelter offers us a place to quarantine incoming dogs and then introduce them to people looking to adopt a rescued dog. Every day a small army of dedicated volunteers provides round-the-clock care for the dogs as well as regular exercise and enrichment. To fund our day-to-day operating costs, we depend entirely upon private donations and this Auction is crucial to keeping us viable throughout the winter months. Every single dollar we raise makes a difference in the life of a dog. ON OUR COVER: MUGSY, A BLOODHOUND IN OUR CARE, WILL BE HELPED BY YOUR DONATIONS TO PAY FOR THE SURGERY NEEDED TO REPAIR HIS ENTROPIAN EYELIDS. 604 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776 (978) 443-7282 ~ [email protected] www.saveadog.org 2 A Guide to the Auction We are offering our guests both a silent and a live auction today. Be sure to look them over ahead of time, and bid high and often. Bob Dylan is an American singersongwriter, musician, poet and painter who has been a major figure in popular music for five decades. Much of his most c elebrated work dates from the 1960s when he was, at first, an informal chronicler and then an apparently reluctant figurehead of social unrest. A number of his songs, such as “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They Are aChangin’ became anthems for both the civil rights and the anti-war movements. Dylan performs with guitar, piano and harmonica. Backed by a changing line-up of musicians, he has toured steadily since the late 1980s on what has been dubbed the Never Ending Tour. His accomplishments as a recording artist and performer have been central to his career, but his greatest contribution is generally considered to be his songwriting. He has received numerous awards over the years including Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy Awards; he has been in ducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fa me, and Songwriters Hall of Fame. The Pulitzer Prize jury in 2008 awarded him a special citation for what they called his profound impact on popular music and American culture, "marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 32 months in 100% French oak casks (the majority Taransaud), it possesses elegance and finesses one would expect from the Stag's Leap area, but also monumental power, richness, and intensity. The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is one of the vintage's super-stars. It's opaque purple color is accompanied by super aromatics, immense body, great fruit extraction, superb purity and overall symmetry, as well as a 40+ finish.
