INTERNATIONAL DAY
PYP
Bella Italia, Beautiful Italy!
Lasciatemi cantare,
“Let me sing”
Those are the first words of the song
That we are going to sing along.
International Day at RBK sounds like tons of fun,
But we know there is a lot of work to be done.
Students and teachers selected the country
But to execute the plans we need help from parents in plenty.
Songs, dance, play, charts, and models… Any help will do
And let’s have a lot of food for everyone too!
So let’s put our best together and make this International Day
A memorable one.
We will be rowing a gondola of our own
And we will take you to a zone
Of legendary cities, fairy tale lakes, and snowy mountains
The Fontana di Trevi is a famous fountain
in our very own city of Rome.
One and all are invited to grade 4B
To learn more about Italy.

PYP
Students and teachers of grade 4-A invites you to visit the extra-ordinary land, scattered with
glided pagodas which has people and history from a glorious mishmash of settlers and invaders from all
fronts. Myanmar's culture is heavily influenced by Buddhism. Influence of ancient Indian culture intertwined
with local traditions and some Chinese influences can be clearly seen in local architecture and food habits. Various
stupas and temples throughout the country bear a distinct resemblance to those in northern India. Like
neighboring Thailand, Theravada Buddhism is the single largest religion, and even some of the most remote villages
will have a village temple for people to pray.
Come one come all… it would be a pleasure to have you as a part of our celebration.

GRADE 10 PERSONAL PROJECT PRESENTATIONS
MYP
Dear Meera madam,
This is in reference to the recent personal project presentation on 16th January 2016 at RBKIA.
My ward Aakash did a fabulous work both in with his project and his presentation. In fact, not only Aakash, but
all his friends in his class did a great job.
It was beyond our expectations with the outcome of every student’s efforts towards their personal project. The
level of thinking inculcated in them is beyond normal students age limits. The maturity level everyone showed
was of no comparison. This all will never be possible without your efforts. Your hard work and experience was
presented during the project show case. All the project tutors and the teachers are given a standing ovation and
a salute for this.
Our best regards from Rakhasiya family.
Thanks a lot.

I
t was Saturday 16 January 2015 I walked in the Secondary Library at 8:00 am for an event by
our seniors, the Grade 10 students. They were presenting their PERSONAL PROJECTS that they had
worked on for months. I, would be in their shoes the next year, I wanted to attend so as to get a clear picture of
their projects. As each student presented, one by one, I watched in awe; their ideas inspired me. The projects
were so amazing that I could not compare them or even decide which one was the best, they were simply too
great for words! Magazines, Movies, Documentaries, Jewellery, Art, Recycling, Perfumes, Wine, Cheese, Music,
Disk Jockeys! Many of them for their projects created and sold their wares to donate the proceeds to charity.
With Personal Project Coordinator’s Meera Rangarajan’s compere and our seniors’ enthusiastic presentations
combined, there was not a single moment that went as dull!
I left the library that day with a clear image and I am ready to start on for my PERSONAL PROJECT!
Thanks my seniors and all the best!

O
n the 16th of January 2016, we the 9th graders were invited to see the 10th grade
MYP’ians personal project showcase. For those who are not aware, a personal project is a
channel, a medium for students to showcase their ideas/ vision, develop it, while trying to fit them in the
global context. From informative magazines, jewellery to lamps and blogs, each was a creative idea/
invention by itself.
Panelist (a.k.a Teachers) were judging and grading the personal projects. Each showcase was prodigious,
truly stunning… But again, it’s is not only the destination, it is the journey that counts. To hear their honest
reflections about their challenges, their road-blocks, their short-comings and finally their success was very
inspiring, given that next year even we have to come up with ideas for a personal project of our own. The
10th graders struggled at first but with cool and composed attitude and with only one goal in mind they kept
going, only to find themselves succeeding with flying colours. Our IB education and RBK has provided us with
this wonderful opportunity to take forward an idea we truly believe in and groom it so it fits somewhere in
the global context. Thank you parents and teachers for your valuable feedback, your sincere involvement
and helping our ideas and beliefs take flight.

A morning to remember
MYP
T
he students of Grade 10 gifted us with a visual treat on 16 January, 2016 with their
Personal Project presentations. Each student exuded confidence and presented their work with
pride and panache. Hours and months of hard work and dedication came to fruition on this wonderful morning.
Parents of these students were also there to share this moment of pride. Each student spoke eloquently about
their journey through this project and we are sure that this experience has helped them to evolve into more
mature individuals. Their professionalism and sincerity stood out through the presentations. As teachers and
supervisors, it was a moment to gloat over the achievements of our students. We wish all our students the best in
all their exams and future endeavours.

Grade 8 - Assembly
T
MYP
he day was beautiful, birds were chirping, sun was shining, pigeons were pooping,
almost perfect for one thing, an assembly from our friendly Grade 8. It was a beautiful day
indeed, with students hurrying into the auditorium with excited chatter. We took our seats and waited
patiently for it to start. They started by describing the day, beautifully bright with the hungry silence of
silent students who wished for excitement in this day. Then, with heart-melting stories of Syrians who had to
flee due to their country now being a battlefield, they stole our hearts. Oh! The poor girl who shuddered when
planes flew ahead. The trauma they faced. That was too tragic. ONWARD!
The bloodiest battle in Indian history, the War of Kalinga, Episode One: King Ashoka’s turning point!
Episode Summary: King Ashoka had invaded the formerly beautiful land of Kalinga while conquering India,
skilled Kalingan warriors stop him, and King Ashoka ends up killing the entire lot, surveys through the massacre,
flashback of him deciding to attack Kalinga, later skips to the aftermath, where King Ashoka is in court depressed
and pouting. A Kalingan woman asks him what she shall do now as her father, husband and son are dead. King
Ashok ends up converting to Buddhism, spreading it all over, building temples and stupas, sending his two
children to spread its teachings all over, and conquering more land in peace, creating unity in the country. He
engraved his life in History forever.
Afterwards, our excitement fulfilled by inappropriate clapping during the ending credits, we happily learnt a
lesson the ‘sing-song way’!

riday, 22nd January will be a day to remember. The students of Grade 8 had a
glorious opportunity to showcase their skills and they made the most out of it. They spoke,
enacted a play and sang a song on the topic of war. They also spoke on the current refugee crisis that the
world is facing on account of war. Grade 8 expressed this beautifully with an example of a young Syrian girl, Rula.
The students showed how war takes us nowhere while peace is the only solution to eradicate all the sufferings we
see around us. They spoke about it by giving an example of king Ashoka who slaughtered and destroyed many
families. But he later repents his actions and makes peace his life’s mission. All this really opened our eyes on how
we should think before taking a decision. They ended the programme with a song that called for everlasting
peace.
After the presentation there were some awards to be given to students who had represented the school and
made everyone proud with their work. It was surely a memorable experience.

Stay
MYP
No place to go
I’m feeling lonely
Oh, I need you now
So, won’t you stay with me? ….(1)
But if you stay with me till eternity
And we cannot define infinity
You can keep my heart
Cause I don’t want it now
Wont’ you stay mine, till the very end?
Won’t you hold my hand?
Don’t you feel the pain?
Cause I don’t need it now
But I need you to stay with me now
So all that’s in stock won’t be sorrow ….(6)
The throb of my heart is stained
With the flame of love and hatred same
It’s like they say- as you sow, so shall you reap
And as you act, so shall you weep ….(2)
No place to go
I’m feeling lonely
Oh, I need you now
So, won’t you stay with me? ….(7)
No place to go
Not even the grave
Oh, I need you now
So, won’t you stay with me? ….(3)
Cause I’m all drained
Feeling all plain
Left with no happiness within me
Just madness in my soul ….(8)
Cause I’m all drained
Feeling all plain
Left with no happiness within me
Just madness in my soul ….(4)
No place to go
Not even the grave
Oh, I need you now
So, won’t you stay with me?
Nothing to tear my heart
Nothing to keep the pieces apart
No thoughts in my brain
Nothing but a voice screaming
Won’t you stay with me?
Won’t you stay with me?
Won’t you stay with me?
Stay with me… ….(9)
And nothing can silence the noise
I got nothing but a dreamless sleep
And you are nothing but a sleepless dream
