MYP NEWS
Changes coming to the MYP
The International Baccalaureate is
introducing its newly reviewed Middle
Years Programme for implementation in
September 2014. The changes seek to
enhance the strengths of the
programme and align it more closely
with the other IB programmes in order
SCIENCE FAIR
to provide a coherent educational
pathway for students. New features
include stronger connections with the
IB continuum of international education
for students. The MYP curriculum
changes seek to value the past while
embracing the future with explicitly

concept-driven curriculum that
encourages student-centered teaching
and learning through global contexts.
Some of the subject names will change,
along with the assessment criteria. We
will provide more information about
these changes in September.

Science Fair
After a one year hiatus,
Science Fair was back in full
force this year. We
expanded the event to
include all grade 8s and 9s
and moved the displays
from the Library to the
Gymnasium. The
imagination of our students
was apparent as they
pursued their interests in
the scope of scientific
inquiry. Our students
should pride themselves in
taking calculated risks,
expressing their ideas and
knowledge confidently and
being reflective in the
process. Fun was had by
all.
We encourage students to
consider entering in the
Regional Science Fair
hosted at UBC for their
Grade 10 Personal Projects.
Good luck to those
projects chosen to
represent King George in
the District Science Fair at
Langara College in March.
