“Roots to Grow - Wings to Fly”
I am very happy to inform you that in November we will be sending home
a progress report for each of our Middle School students. This one page (or
two) will give parents a quick update as to how their children are
progressing this year.
The After-School Activities have begun. Thank you everyone who has
volunteered to lead an activity. I know that some students were not able to
sign-up for the activity they wanted because of the high demand.
Fortunately, there will be more opportunities to sign-up for more activities
after the winter break.

Understanding the MYP By Amanda Shepherd, MYP Coordinator What do you know about the Learner Profile? Can you remember the 10 attributes of IB learners? The Learner Profile is the IB’s mission in action. It requires IB learners to strive to become inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-‐minded, caring, risk-‐takers, balanced and reflective. These aspects of internationally minded people present a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond concern for intellectual development and academic content. They imply a commitment to implement standards and practices that help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them. Have a look at the board outside Dr Tim’s office and add your comments about the Nobel Peace Prize winners for 2014. How much do you know about these remarkable people and what they want to do for children’s education? What could you do? Watch the board outside the Coordinators Office (B207) for a notice about a competition for designing posters for each of the learner profile attributes that will be printed and placed around the school. Here are some pictures from the 7B
Language & Literature class. Students
performed skits of various fairy tales to
show how readers can find empathy in
literature. This empathy can help people
understand other perspectives better.
