Homecoming
Hawk field was once again the scene for the 2013 Homecoming
Game against San Antonio Winston School on Friday, October 18,
2013. The Hawks, under the direction of Coach Chris Ramirez, won
the game at halftime by a score of 63-0. The weather was perfect
for the pregame festivities: “fajitas at the field” cooked by Dr. Martin Franklin and announcement of the homecoming court. The rain
held off long enough for the boys to bring home the win by halftime! Christina Vickers was crowned homecoming queen and Wyatt
Williams was crowned homecoming king.

“Let everything you say be good and helpful so that
your words will be an encouragement to those who hear
them.” Ephesians 4:29
This scripture verse hangs above our heads as we enter the doorway to OLH each day. It serves as a reminder
to all who enter how important it is that we provide encouragement to our students and faculty to do our
best each day and to support each other. I asked our students at our first Hawk meeting in August to remember
that we are here to take care of each other.
We are family and for just a few short years we have an opportunity to be present to each other, attentive to the academic and spiritual needs of each other. I asked our teachers and parents at one of
our first meetings to continue to be examples of our loving God in
the lives of our young people. We understand that we are all here to
bring our students, our children, closer to God in an environment
that promotes academic excellence and one that is safe and secure
to foster growth and maturity in each other.
We are all mentors for each other, entrusted to guide and teach
our students how to be “good and helpful,” demonstrating by example the values of integrity and service. It is our goal to model integrity for our young people and continue to make OLH a place where
love and compassion are at the forefront of our every action, work
and deed.
It has been an amazing start to this school year and the blessings
continue. I remain grateful to our teachers, parents, and students,
board of directors, donors, benefactors and prayer warriors. God
bless each of you for your continued commitment to the students
and staff of Our Lady of the Hills.
