Protection
About Lowepro
Whether you’re shooting a rare Spirit Bear in Northern Canada or a Ferris wheel
in downtown London, you need to know that your valuable equipment is safe
from the elements. That’s why we’ve innovated such unique features as the
All Weather Cover™, to safeguard your gear from rain, dust, sand and snow, and
the OverLap Zipper™, with its reinforced walls and heavy-duty closed-cell foam,
to protect your gear from anything life throws its way.

Lowepro’s Patented All Weather Cover™
Mother Nature is hard to predict. That’s why Lowepro’s patented All Weather
Cover is one of the most important features found on any Lowepro pack, bag
or pouch. The ultimate protection in any environment, the All Weather Cover
effectively protects your equipment from all the elements — rain, snow, dust and
sand — so you won’t ever have to worry about keeping your gear safe — even
the harshest surroundings.
All Weather Covers fit snugly and tuck neatly inside special compartments — easy
to access, quick to put on and never in the way.
Whether you’re out in the wilderness, braving the arctic or caught in a downpour
downtown, your valuable equipment will be protected so you can focus on
getting the shot and not worrying about your gear.

Durability
You count on your gear not to fail, and we pride ourselves on providing
products that meet and surpass that expectation. We use superior
materials and hardware, and enforce high standards for quality
workmanship and construction. And then we test. And test some more.
Our products are used and abused all around the world. And even
though our equipment gets tossed around a lot, the gear inside often
remains in better shape than the photographers themselves.

“I’m very, very lucky. In all honesty,
I wouldn’t be around without my DryZone.
It was supposed to save my gear, which
it did. I didn’t count on it saving my life.”
–Brooke McDonald, Photographer
Life Preserver. We designed our DryZone backpacks to protect equipment in the most extreme conditions. For photojournalist Brooke
McDonald, the DryZone 200 was literally a life saver when she went onto the ice to photograph seals in the Magdalen Islands of
Labrador, Canada and an ice floe collapsed underneath her.
“In 2004, I was covering the Labrador seal hunt. The Sea Shepherd
Society gave me an opportunity to photograph the seal nurseries
before the hunt began. On the second day, conditions were
brutal: high winds and a ground blizzard of ice crystals. It was so
dangerous that I and another photographer decided to head back
to the helicopter. I stepped forward and the ice collapsed, plunging
me into the freezing cold water. I was terrified that I would be
trapped under the ice.”
“Fortunately, I had just bought a DryZone 200. Even though it
was fully loaded, the DryZone held my head and shoulders above
water and saved my life.
“My boots froze to my feet and I lost the $5,000 worth of camera
equipment I had around my neck. Everything in the DryZone was
fine, including the camera my late father had given me. Most
importantly, I was fine, too.
“I’m very, very lucky. In all honesty, I wouldn’t be around without
my DryZone. It was supposed to save my gear, which it did. I didn’t
count on it saving my life.”
–Brooke McDonald, Photographer

Comfort
About Lowepro
Photo gear is heavy. We can’t change that, but the right pack can make it feel
lighter. We design our packs so that by simply adjusting weight distribution and
balance, you can be comfortable in very uncomfortable situations. Well-placed
compression straps keep the load close to your body and breathable; and
highly cushioned materials assure the ultimate in carrying comfort.

Accessibility
Innovation happens when you’re just hanging around. Photographer Florian
Wagner likes to put himself and his camera equipment in precarious positions.
Over the years, he has challenged us to create products that will withstand his
various adventures. Florian brainstormed with our design team to develop the
most accessible, comfortable and secure camera gear carrying system out there.
The initial result was the modular Street & Field System™, which has now
expanded to the SlipLock™ System.
The Lowepro SlipLock™ System
®
As many options as Yosemite has peaks. A tsetse fly in Botswana.
Tiger Woods at Augusta. The Bornstein bar mitzvah in Cleveland.
Every job is different. That’s why we created the SlipLock System.
The most sophisticated carrying system out there allows you to
customize all the components you need for a specific job.
You can add or subtract components at will. It’s that simple.
Start with a core system, then add whichever accessories you
prefer. Use the SlipLock attachment tabs to fasten the extras
to your base product. The result? Maximum accessibility of all
of your equipment.

Protecting the Spirit Bear
Eight years ago, Lowepro spearheaded the Spirit Bear Campaign
to save the rare species threatened by clear-cut logging. As a
result, on April 4, 2001, the government of British Columbia
announced the creation of a 240,000-acre Spirit Bear protection
area. But crucial areas of the bear’s habitat still have not been
protected — and could be logged. Valhalla Wilderness Society
and Lowepro continue to fight for the preservation of all of this
rare bear’s habitat.

“My trips are my life and my passion.
Why ration passion? I travel to some
of the world’s most remote regions
looking for first ascents and ultimate
adventure. Few people have been
to where I’ve been. I have rare
opportunities for spectacular imagecapturing and I feel passionate about
sharing these images.
“I am stubborn about capturing
life as it happens, without directing
the action. That’s what keeps me
passionate. When you look at my
images, it’s quite evident that my stuff
is real. Raw. Gruesome, sometimes.
“My trips are about living in the
now. Out there I don’t think about
the past or the future. Whether I’m
climbing a four thousand foot wall or
battling a storm, I’m just taking each
moment as it comes and loving it.
Each trip is meditation and training
for the next expedition.”
Mike’s passion is ultimate
adventure, especially big walls and
alpine first ascents in untouched
areas around the world. Mike’s
climbing resume includes first ascents
in Antarctica, Baffin Island, China,
Greenland, Madagascar, Russia and
Venezuela, many of them solos.
Recently, he became the first to
walk across western China’s “Sea of
Death”, the forbidding Taklimakan
Desert, a 700-mile trek.

“There are so many places I want to go. I’m drawn to Arctic regions
and Antarctica for the incredible landscape, the beauty and the
light. I like icy landscapes, their simpleness and wildness. Nothing
is as wild as Antarctica. There’s a graphic quality to a snowy
landscape; the light is different and the land is full of shadows.
“I’ve grown to look at things differently. I see more abstractly
now. While I don’t want to forget my roots, I don’t want to shoot
the same thing over and over again.
“Although I shoot about a third digital, I enjoy the challenges

“I have traveled extensively over the years, but
now find myself wanting to focus more and
more on landscapes closer to home, in northern
England and Scotland. Britain’s landscape is
not spectacular in global terms, for we have
no mountains over 1500 meters, no glaciers,
volcanoes, rift valleys, or rain forest, and indeed
little true wilderness. But we have atmospheric
and ancient agricultural landscapes, coastlines
of remarkable geological antiquity and beauty,
and natural light which, though elusive and hard
to capture, is photographically inspiring.
“Working for the National Trust has taught
me the importance of pro-active conservation,
and the role photography can play in drawing
attention to what is both good and bad in
our environment. A conservationist’s work is
never done.”
As well as working freelance for the National
Trust and other environmental charities,
landscape photographer Joe Cornish has his

Putting Your Street and Field™ System Together
Lowepro’s original and most comprehensive modular carrying system makes all kinds of sense. You choose the system you need — and change
it as often as you want. Whether you’re an outdoor photographer, a wedding photographer or a photojournalist, you can build a personal system
to fit your needs.
The SlipLock™ System.
Many different bags and packs are compatible with SlipLock
add-ons (a wide variety of pouches). A reinforced attachment
tab slides into any SlipLock loop and fastens securely.
Attach SlipLock add-ons to your own belt or other SlipLock
base products. Look for the “SlipLock System” logo
throughout this brochure.

more SlipLock add-ons to an

The Works. Choose an S&F Utility
Case, Film Drop AW, Lens Case 3,
Pouches 10, 20 and 50. Carry
them on an S&F Deluxe Waistbelt
with a Shoulder Harness.
Rapid Access. Start with an
S&F Deluxe Waistbelt with a
Vest Harness. Add the Film

By Special Request: The Stealth AW II
Kevin T. Gilbert, past president of the White House News Photographers’ Association, asked Lowepro to make a bag to meet the needs of
digital photojournalists. His input helped us design the Stealth AW II Backpack.
Now a favorite of professional photographers as well as photojournalists, the Stealth AW II backpack is small enough for the cramped
spaces of Air Force One, roomy enough for everything you need to catch the action. Attractive enough for black-tie galas, torture tested by
international photojournalists, the Stealth AW II Backpack has proven its worth in the real world.

“I don’t think there’s ever been such
an unusual path taken to become a

it up for SI, shooting the President’s

“It’s important for me to shoot images that communicate. At major events now, there are 50 to 100 people on the sidelines, shooting the
same action. I want to get an image that really stands out.
“At the Olympics, there’s an intensity you don’t find anywhere else. For most of the competitors, it’s their one chance at a medal. It also
means shooting sports I don’t usually follow for Sports Illustrated, like gymnastics. On the way to the Olympics, I’m already thinking about
the events I’m going to be shooting, what I’ve learned from past events, what the gymnasts routines are going to be…”

“I love to be around people and interview them and
hear their stories. I’m always interested in what
lies below the surface of people; when you get
below the surface, there’s often an archetype.
Recently I decided it was time to look at the end
of the life cycle. It was a pleasant surprise. Most
of the women I photographed for Wise Women
had never been happier. They hadn’t been asked
questions like that and I loved their enthusiasm
when they realized they were people who were
worthy of being interviewed.”
Described as one of the ten most influential
women in the history of photography, Joyce

International Center of Photography’s Infinity
Award. Her haunting images have appeared on
numerous magazine covers and in nine books,

“Fashion, flowers, nudes and portraits — they’re all the same: light, form, color. And mystery. And mystery is very important. When I started
photographing flowers, I thought, ‘My God, where have I been?’ I’d never seen the mysteries of a flower. We walk by wonders every day and
don’t see them. We only stop at what shouts the loudest.
“My great women of jazz series touched me deeply. I documented women who had been ignored and were extraordinarily talented — and
contributed so much to American culture. I became friends with many of them. At the time (1979), women over 40 were ignored.”
Legendary international fashion photographer, Barbara directed the first fashion TV commercials, earned numerous awards and created
evocative nudes and portraits. Her sensitive flower explorations inspired the books, Searching: Secret Landscapes of Flowers Volumes I, II and III.
