I then worked for Cort Business Services in sales and management, followed by a position at Abbott Laboratories where I worked for 3 ½ years selling sev eral different drugs including antibiotics, thyroid medication and HIV medication. When my travel schedule with Abbott became too difficult on my family, my husband and I decided that it was time for me to work for the construction busi ness he had started a few years back. My husband started the first com pany 7 years ago and I joined the company 3 years ago, taking over the administrative side of the business. Last March we decided to split the company and we know run 2 sepa rate businesses, one specializing in Roofing, Siding and Waterproofing, the second company specializes in Sheet Metal Fabrication. I married Matt Davis in May 1999 and we now have 2 children, Tyler (7) and Alexandra (5). We live north of Seattle in the Snohomish/Mill Creek area. Tyler is very active in sports, and he loves movies and mu sic. Alexandra is a little dancer; she is a tiny little thing with a big voice and a lot of energy. They both keep us on our toes! Life has been very good, and I find it hard to believe it has already been 20 years since we graduated. It seems like yesterday that we were hanging out at our locker. 12616 67 th Ave SE Snohomish WA 98296 (425) 4228876 [email protected] David Blacketer I am married to my wife Dana of 13 years. We have two boys, Andrew 9, and Austin 6. We live in Rich land. I am a teacher at Southridge High School in Kennewick where I have been for 10 years. I teach World Studies, psychology, and sociology. Kami (Bleiler) Softich I live in Kennewick with my husband, Len and girls Tori, 15 and Haley, 12. We still own MidColumbia Gymnastics & Cheer. I stay pretty busy with the business and the kid's activities & sports. Tori is a volley ball player at Kamiakin, and Haley is into music. Not much has changed for us since our 10 year reunion. Ron K. Brown Ron lives in Richland with his wife, Melinda. After high school, Ron went to Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming. He received an Associates of Arts Degree in Auto Body and Manage ment. After returning to the TriCities and over the years, he worked as an auto body tech and did custom auto body for a few years. In 1998 he started working at North west Jet Boats, in Pasco, as a Boat Rigger. He worked his way up to Floor Supervisor and left that position, in 2007, to pursue a career as a Marine Technician at Northwest Marine and Sport. He is working towards his certification on Mercury motors. Ron and Melinda (Mindy) Killmer (RHS `86) met in 1997 and were married in 2002. Mindy is a Certified Medical Billing Specialist for a family practice doctor, in Kennewick. We’ve done major landscaping, since purchasing our home in 2002, and Ron has built a shed and redwood deck. We are members of CUP church and Mindy volunteers for Sunday school and vacation bible school each summer. She loves to garden. We have 5 nieces! Ron’s brother John (Class of 92) has 3 girls and lives in Anaconda, Montana and Mindy’s brother Jason (Class of 90) has 2 girls and lives in Tacoma, WA. We love spending time with the girls and see them as often as we can. We have two Texas size cats – Annie & Buddy and many fish. One of Ron’s hobbies and accom plishments has been learning about, starting, and maintaining two freshwater fish tanks. Ron’s hobbies are cooking, mountain/offroad biking, camping, and he is learning to golf. NAS CAR is still a passion for him and rarely does he miss watching a race. He’s been able to attend two NASCAR races, in Las Vegas, and can’t wait to go again. We have been blessed in our lives and to be given each other. Our plans for the future are to “live well, laugh often, and love much”. Lisa (Burrup) Mitton I am happily married to Bruce Mitton. He is an actuary and I'm loving being a homemaker. We have an 8 year old son, Ryan, a 4 year old daughter, Amy, that just joined our family in March from China, and an almost 3 year old son, Jared. We live near Portland, OR (22630 SW 93rd Terrace, Tualatin, OR 97062). Life is treating us very well. Heather (Carstens) Pedlar Since our 10year reunion my life has been very busy! Todd (my hubby of 16 years) graduated with his PhD in Physics in May of 1999 from Northwestern University in Chicago. We spent the next four years at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY for a postdoctoral research position. Our first two daughters (Abigail, 7; Sarah, 5) were born there. In 2003, Todd accepted an Assistant Professor of Physics position at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where we currently live. Since moving here we have had two more daughters (Rebekah, 3, and Naomi, 1 in Sept.). Since the birth of Abigail, I have been a stayathome mom, a role I treasure. My days are filled with managing our busy household and homeschooling our daughters. We en joy the slow pace of smalltown life and thank the Lord regularly for the many ways He has blessed our family. I am unable to attend the reunion, but I hope all of you have a wonderful time of reacquainting and reminiscing! God bless you! Marcia (Cillian) Irwin Since our 10 year reunion I finished up business school at the University of Pennsylvania where I focused on finance and marketing. I am now in Boston at Wellington Management, an investment firm, working in the Equity Product Management group with expertise in global equity funds. I am happily married to my business school sweetheart Derrick Irwin who is also in the investment management industry as an emerg ing markets analyst. We celebrated our nupitials in 2004 in our dream location Capetown, South Africa where we had visited yearly because we love it so much there. We are now settled into the Boston area and are proud parents of our 19 month son Alexander. We are truly smitten with him. We never thought parenting could be so much fun! Elayne (Crowe) Grueber Like many of you, I find it hard to believe that it was 20 years ago that we graduated! I am living in Michigan with my husband (Jim), we recently celebrated our 10th anniversary! We are the proud parents of four boys (Nate8, Josh6, Zach3 & Ethan17 months). We are a pretty active family & enjoy spending time outside (hiking, camping, walks, or just playing at the park). I worked as a civil engineer up until about 3.5 years ago. I now stay home full time with the boys. While it is more demanding than my pre vious job, it is also MUCH more rewarding! Brett Davis I am married to Trina and we have three boys Tyler (15), Tanner (9) and Ben (8). I have my own graphic design company of 2 people: www.groupdavis.com Theresa (Deacy) Trijillo I was married in '91 in Richland to David Trujillo (RHS Class of '87). We have had five children. The oldest is Anita (16) who will be a Senior in High School at IKE this year! Next was Reuben who passed away in '93 of SIDS at 2 1/2 months. Then came Melinda (14) who will be a freshman at IKE this year. Next our son Tony (11) came along and last, but not least, our youngest Lydia (9). David and I started off living in Seattle for four years as he finished Undergraduate and Law School at University of Washington. Then we moved to sunny Yakima in '95. We've been here ever since. To gether we run a small law firm; Dave is the attorney and I'm the bookkeeper. It works well for us and al lows us to be available for our kids and all their activities mostly basketball, dance and volunteering. We also have rental properties to keep track of and maintain along with our house and office. Every weekday I like to spend an hour at aerobics/ pilates class. It's "my" time and I try to keep it guarded. I'm also very involved with a service or ganization called Catholic Daughter's of the Americas. I serve as the local Yakima area Vice Regent (V.P.) and as a State Chair for Youth. I also enjoy volunteering with the elderly through Volunteer Chore Services, something I actually started doing when I was a Junior at RHS. Our whole family enjoys traveling and taking road trips to gether so much that we pur chased an RV late last spring along with a pair of jet skis. Both are fun in the summer and the RV takes us on winetours in the fall! I've been look ing forward to seeing every one again and will miss those that cannot join us. Samatha (Dossett) Jarvis My husband Chris recently accepted an offer to open an office for Colliers International/PGP in Chicago, IL. This Spring our family moved from Seattle, WA to Naperville, IL. I have two wonderful kids Sam uel age 8 and Christine age 6. I keep busy running the kids around and help manage our 2nd business in WA. Of course I still dance and guest teach whenever the opportunity arises. Jon Filkowski Melissa and I have moved back to Richland. We live, in the neighborhood I grew up in. We have two kids. Alina, our daughter, is 7 years old and goes to Christ the King. She plays soccer, enjoys ballet, loves to swim, and ride on the "tube" behind the boat. Alex, our son, is 4 years old and loves anything with wheels on it. He loves the water, and it is hard to keep him out of the pool. Melissa has been staying home for the last 2 years working on her ed. doc. dissertation and being a mom to the kids. I am now a physical therapist, and work at a nursing home here in town. We are glad to be back in Richland. Cami K (Fresk) Hi! I attended Badger Mountain with quite a few alumni, and was at Richland High our Sophomore year. I am a meat manager for Safeway, have been with them 18 years. I have no kids (just the furry kind, 3 cats, a Pomeranian and a Britney Spaniel, 3 goldfish). I am not married, living happily ever after in Van couver Wa. with my manfriend, Mike. I love boating, hiking, martini's, all types of music, pretty much anything outdoorsy. I lived in England for a year 19891990. I absolutely love vacationing in Mexico or anywhere tropical. The picture on the right is from 2006, it is of me and GG (Dopps), we've been best friends since Richland Laura (Fryer) Rawkins After graduating from RHS, I attended BYU, and graduated in 1993 with a degree in Construction Man agement. I had our first child two weeks before graduating, and let's just say it was all I could do to make myself take that last set of finals. I quickly put my Construction Management degree to work and now have a thriving practice of "Destruction Management" as a stayathome mom and mother of six kids. (I'd like to know who coined the term "stayathome mom", since I'm on the go in the car more than at home...) I haven't gone on any amazing world travels, although we just recently took a vacation with our family an hour over the Mexican boarder to Puerto Penasco, and a couple of years ago we had a trip to China planned with passports and airline tickets in hand, and then S.A.R.S. and the war broke out. So, we had to cancel at the last minute. I haven't cured any diseases, but I have nursed many patients through severe bouts of stomach flu over the years, and I'm a survivor of parenting a child with ADDwhich can be life threatening at times (to them, not me). I haven't performed live at any rock con certs, but Michael and I like to take in an occasional Vegas show, and I like to T vo American Idol and watch it after the kids are in bed. I haven't won any Nobel Prizes, yet, but I spend a lot of time help ing my kids with their home work, and I vividly remember Mr. Goecke and his geometric theorems, and Mr. Harbor lec turing about the Krebs cycle. Actually life is just extremely busy with a whole lot of "normal". I currently live in Henderson, Nevada with my husband Michael Rawlins (Richland High class of 1984) and our crazy kids. Well, maybe it's me that's crazy for having six kids. Some days its a tossup. Michael and I have been married for 171/2 years and moved to Henderson right after he fin ished law school. I keep busy carting kids around to all their activities, volun teering as a parent helper at school, help ing as a youth leader at church, coaching one of my daughter's soccer team, and doing mass quantities of laundry. Life is good. In my rare moments of free time, I really enjoy reading, exercising, playing volleyball and tennis, and going on dates with my hubby. 279 Gingerbread Street Henderson, NV 89012 Judi (Giddens) Reynolds Occupation: Library Director at the Meigs County – Decatur Public Library Current Residence: Ten Mile, TN Marital Status: Divorced Family: 9 year old son, Jason Judith (Giddens) Reynolds lives in East Tennessee with her 9 year old son, Jason. Prior to becoming a Certified Public Library Manager, she worked in several diverse industries in cluding beer distribution, comic and record store ownership, nuclear engineering/construction, computer touch screen development, international ocean freight and R&D for a leading manufacturer of PET (Positron Emission Tomograph) Scanners. In 2001, Judi chose to leave the research lab environment to pursue a career in public librarianship in or der to spend more time with her son. She graduated from the Public Library Management Institute in May 2005. She obviously was not aware of the unique demands of public librarianship, and has since added “monkey proofing the library” and “scheduling appointments with Darth Vader” to her list of job duties during summer reading events. During their free time, Judi and her son love to attend sporting events. They are both fans of the Tennes see Smokies (baseball) and the Knoxville Icebears (hockey) semipro teams. Laura Roberts Steve, myself, and Isabella (2 years old) moved to the TriCities from Seattle last September. I lived there for 14 years and thought it would be nice to be close to my family again and away from the busy caotic city, though now I miss it. We welcomed daughter #2, Ava, on June 8. I've worked for CH2M HILL for almost 10 years now. Steve works for Bechtel. I'm excited to see every one at the 20year reunion. Time flies is right, can't believe it has been that long already! Kim (Ross) Nelson As you can see from the picture, I have been really busy since graduation. My husband, Craig Nelson (RHS class of 84) and I currently live in West Richland and have been blessed with 6 children3 girls and 3 boys. Alyse is the oldest at 17, then Ashley is 15, Brad is 12, Blake is 10, Carter is 7 and Carly, the baby, is 4. After high school graduation, I went to BYU and received a BS in Elementary Education and teaching became one of the great loves of my life. Because I wanted to stay at home with my children, I haven't had a fulltime teaching job since college graduation but I have enjoyed staying very involved with the schools, as well as teaching community school classes and workshops through the years on sub jects like scrap booking, Dejunking and organizing your home and spaces, and living frugally. Craig has a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and works at Battelle as a program manager. As a family, Kyra (Russell) Mathews I currently work for the Richland School District as a paraeducator in the developmental preschool (currently located) at Jefferson Elementary. This is a special program for 35 year olds who are develop mentally delayed and/or have Autism, Down's syndrome, etc. Not only do I love the kids, but it has per fect hours for me since I have 4 boys of my own at home. Joshua is 17 (and will be a senior at RHS next year), TJ is 15, Stuart is 13, and Jarod is 10. I also have been volunteering as an area representative for ASSE Student Exchange Program for the last 10 years. I find local families to host students, typically for a school year. Not only did my own family host Paula Forsberg (you may remember her) from Finland; but my family now has hosted boys from France and the Czech Republic. Next year we will host a boy from South Korea. I remarried in 2001 to Brad Mathews, who moved here from Texas after we meet on the internet. We own a home in Canyon Terrace with a backyard right into the canyon, where the boys like to explore. We have 4 dogs and a cat (my husband named him, Speedbump). Brad's son, Samuel, is 7 and lives with his mom in Texas. You can see him in our picture. I have an obsession with volunteering. So, I often work in my boys' classes, I work in my church nursery with the toddlers, I work in my women's bible study group in the "Tech Booth" by working the computer aspect, and I am the team manager for my son's pre mier soccer team (through Three Rivers Soccer Club). When I actually have time at home, I still love to cro chet and usually make things for babies. At any given time, you can usually find 3 8 baby blankets in my room and when I don't have someone to give them to, I donate them to local charities like Tri Cities Pregnancy Center or Domes tic Violence. Jill (Rutledge) Russell I am currently living in Chandler, AZ with my husband, Henry. We married in January 2007 but have been together since 1999. We don’t have any children, other than our chocolate Lab, Hershey. I have been in AZ since graduation and am ready for a change of scenery (primarily cooler weather). Since the 10 year reunion, I have had a couple of different jobs, primarily in Benefits and Healthcare. I am cur rently working for CVS/Caremark as a Reporting Analyst. We enjoy spending time together with our dog, visiting family and having lots of pool parties with our friends. I live in Kennewick, WA Nothing spectacular has happened since the last reunion or at all in the past 20 years. Jennifer Sonnichsen Wow, 20 years to sum up in a few paragraphs. In a nutshell, the first 10 years were college (UW, Chemi cal Engineering), graduate school (UW also, Civil Engineering) and a few years working and living in Se attle, then a big move to Hawaii right after our 10year reunion. I got a job in Honolulu with an environ mental remediation engineering firm and worked my way up to Project Manager. I had a lot of great ex periences working for them in Hawaii and some fun places in the Pacific Ocean as well including Midway and Johnston Atolls. I got married to David Lewis, who was in the Navy at the time. We had a great time scuba diving and travelling for many years until we settled down and had our son Jack in 2005. Also in 2005, David decided to end his military career and separated from the Navy, and we decided to move back to the Seattle area (Woodinville) in September 2005. David got a job at Microsoft and I continued to work for Shaw Environmental from home parttime. We added a daughter, Lucy, in January 2007, and the last 18 months has been a blur of teething, pottytraining, and lots of playdates with good friends in the area and their kids. We continue to love to travel, but our trips are closer to home these days, thankfully, the Northwest has so many places to discover. My parents still live in Richland so we make it back to visit several times in the summer to enjoy their pool and the hot weather. Kraig Sorensen I am married with 3 kids (Rachel 9, Tyler 7, Ryan 4). Stephanie and I have been married for 12 years. We moved to Kennewick 3 years ago. I work as a physical therapist in Richland. We have lived in Richland in the Horn Rapids Golf Community for almost 10 years and enjoy all of the neighborhood activities golfing, swimming, tennis, long walks, deckhopping parties, cocktail eve nings, and the annual Christmas hayride and caroling. We can't imagine living anywhere else! Dyan continues to teach 6th grade at Enter prise Middle School in West Richland (formerly Hanford Middle School). Evan is also a teacher and the Girls Varsity Basket ball coach at Hanford High School. Dyan has given up coaching cross country and track to spend time after school with her kids... as well as put in a lot of time as a coach's wife team dinners, activities, leadership training, summer camps and tourna ments, etc... :) Their lives pretty much revolve around the different sports seasons as Connor and Kelly are also very active in football, bas ketball, gymnastics, tball/ coach pitch, and summer track and swimming. The motto in the Woodward house is: Life is a sport! Darren Strenge I got married in October 2003 to my lovely wife Robyn and we now live in Poulsbo, WA with our chil dren Ethan (3 yrs) and Ella ( she will be 10 months in June). I work as a horticulturalist and arborist at the Bloedel Reserve, a botanical garden (www.bloedelreserve.org) on Bainbridge Island, WA. My wife researches shellfish diseases in a lab at the University of Washington. (Yes, she was a Husky and I was a Coug but we make it work). I won't likely be able to make it to the reunion but I hope to get a copy of the memory book. I'll see if I can email you a photo of my family. Michelle (Thomas) Baker I am married to Mike Baker (RHS 86) for 14 years now. We met 22 years ago. We both went to WSU. He is an electrical en gineer for Broadcom. I am a labor and employment attorney and really like the work. Brady practices personal injury law. We enjoy swimming, entertaining, traveling and hanging out with the kids. Pamela (Weible) Uran After loosing three of our four parents in less than two years, my husband Bill and I spend a whole mess of time just thanking our lucky stars for each day, our family and friends. We live a few miles north of Seattle in Richmond Beach where Bill grew up. We have been married for 10 years (and I still like him). I hung up my chalk (retired from teach ing) to stay home with our two chil dren. We giggle a lot, and try to have an adventure everyday even if we don’t leave the house. Nathaniel (Nate) is five, likes blonde girls, digs Scooby Doo and starts kindergarten in the fall. Mr. Tadlock will be his principal yes, THAT Mr. Tadlock! Amelia is two and enjoys hugging our dog Rupert and spinning in circles. Future plans? This fall I hope to vote for a winning candidate and plan to bake a lot of cookies and wave a lot of signs. I still want to be a rock star but would consider a return to rocking grade school arenas instead in a few years. Meanwhile, I would like more kids, more dogs and some chickens. I am holding out hope for at least one of the first two, since Bill doesn’t see the need for chickens. Who doesn’t want fresh eggs? I think I could still win him over. Linda Wierenga Profession: Project Controls Manager, Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility Current Residence: Yorktown, Virginia Marital Status: Single No Children Current email: [email protected] Carin (Wilson) Marney I can’t believe it has been twenty years since big hair, mullets, and white pumps. Time has flown by. I graduated from the UW in 1992 with a degree in business. I was in a sorority and was a Husky Hostess (recruiting football players), back when UW was going to Rose Bowls. I graduated from Gonzaga law school in 1995. I have been an attorney since 1995 and am a partner with Lane Powell, a law firm in Seattle. I lived in the Tri Cities for a couple years after law school be fore moving to Seattle, where I met my husband, Dave. We got married in 2000 with Jodie (McClelland) Nutter, Lisa (Koch) Muir, and Pam (Weible) Uran in our wedding. Dave and I have two fantastic little girls: Paige is 6 and was born on Mother’s Day. Grace was born last summer in July, 2007. I have been lucky to have traveled around the world, but now you can find me either working, attending a birthday party at Gymboree, or taking a gaggle of girls to McDonalds. I look forward to catching up with everybody! Tony Woods I currently live in Kennewick. I own 2 businesses. The “Guitar School” in the uptown at Richland and “In Home Furniture Repair” which is a mobile ‘wood’ touch up & repair business. I’ve been to Spain twice to study ‘flamenco guitar’ and Peru twice on different mission trips. I’ve written a small book called “Happiness: A Few Coping Techniques” and recorded a CD called “Tony Woods: A Long Time Coming” with six original songs and I’m currently working on 2 new CD’s, a live recording of some local shows and a second with eight new songs. I make furniture in my free time and am cur rently working on a new flamenco guitar. When I’m not playing or working in the shop I hang out with my family. My mom and dad still live in the tricities and my sister is married and living in Ellensburg. I have two nephews that I love to spend time with. One is old enough to sometimes do some wood work with me. A word of wisdom about happiness. In the past year or so I’ve realized that happiness cannot be some thing that you put off for later. It can’t come when I finally get that new “Harley.” It can’t wait till you fall ‘in love.’ It can’t wait till I get a newer house. It can’t wait till I finally lose that 10 lbs. There comes a time when you just decide to be happy now! Amidst all the good and not so good, to un derstand things never get perfect so find satisfaction in today. Patti (Zipperer) Wood When we last left off, I was living in Las Vegas, working as an Estimator for an HVAC company, Dean and I had just gotten married, and our son, Tanner, had just turned one. While still on maternity leave from the birth of my little clone, Madeline, in 2000 I was offered a position as Project Manager at a new office in Portland. Figuring that it would be nice to be close to both sides of the family again, I accepted and the family moved back to the Pac NW. Two years later, Dean was offered a job in Umatilla, and co incidentally, 2 weeks later the branch office I was working for closed up and I took a layoff figuring that this was a perfect time to start living the dream of being a stayathome mom (pffft, yeah, like I ever get to just stay at home). Of course, this also sealed the deal in our having to move back to the TriCities (turns out, it's not as bad as we thought it would be). Then, by uttering the very words "stayathome mom" I got pregnant with #3. Parker was born in 2002, and we bought a house in Richland (do I even need to mention how much I have come to loath Sycamore and Olive trees?). I worked at home for a while for AOL/Time Warner as a site manager for Parenting Magazine, then dab bled a bit in being a personal chef and catering small events. I just recently started working one day a week as a substitute for the USPS, which it turns out, once you get through training is actually a really fun job! Other than that, these days my time is mostly spent finding the perfect tone for yelling "STOP THAT" and "DON'T MAKE ME COME IN THERE", maintaining an idyllic paradise for my hard working husband to come home to (yes, that made me gag typing it), squeezing in rounds of golf, con tributing to various philanthropic events, embarrassing my children in my coconut bra and grass skirt at Parrothead outings, and kicking the butts of friends and family at our annual food competitions (ok, this wasn't my year for the salsa, but I'm coming after you next year, Chris!). Pretty much at a place that I am loving my home, my life, and my family (thank you pharmaceuticals!)
