Welcome Letter
August 2009
To ALL TREXPO Participants
On behalf of everyone at Bobit Business Media, I welcome you
to the 19th Annual TREXPO East Conference and Expo!
Whether this is your first visit to TREXPO East or you’re a
returning veteran, we are delighted you could join us!
As publisher of POLICE Magazine, I’ve had many
opportunities to discuss with you your concerns. This year as
so many state and local governments have faced budget
shortfalls, your training funds have likely been a target of
budget cuts. TREXPO is dedicated to providing valuable
training to individual officers at a nominal cost. When you
review this year’s conference schedule, you will note there are
more tracks than ever before led by some of the finest law
enforcement instructors in the world. They are here to teach
you the skills that you need to fight and win against the many
growing threats to officer and public safety.
Once again, TREXPO East is offering continuing education
credit for all conference attendees! Attendees will receive 0.2
credits for each 8 hours of training at TREXPO including
keynotes and Range Day! Credit will be provided by
Northcentral Technical College (NTC), a regional training
academy that provides basic law enforcement and corrections
training, specialized training, instructor training in unified
tactical subjects, and is the home of the Redman Training
Division. NTC is accredited by the Wisconsin Department of
Justice and the Higher Learning Commission.
TREXPO East will, yet again, feature the ever popular Tactical
Medicine track. The all-day Tactical Medicine program is for
any SWAT or patrol officer who wants to learn
how to be a SWAT medic.
In addition to this track, the TREXPO East
conference program will include a Close
Quarters Defensive Tactics hands-on track.
You can also receive classroom training in a
wide variety of topics, including: Defensive
Tactics (hands on), Homeland Security and
Terrorism, Tactical Operations, High Risk
Security/Executive & VIP and Officer Survival.
2
On Thursday, join us for a full afternoon of specialized
extended training programs, many
of which are free.
Our biggest news this year is that Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is
returning for a two-part keynote presentation: “The Bulletproof
Mind.” Anyone who has ever seen Dave’s dynamic
performance knows that this is a “must see” keynote. Come
early on Wednesday and Thursday and get a good seat. You are
sure to be inspired, energized, and entertained.
For the first time, this year at TREXPO East we will conduct a
panel session on Active Shooters. Moderated by Cleveland
SWAT veteran Robert J. O’Brien, the panel—Don Alwes, Ron
McCarthy, and John Benner—will discuss first response and
tactical unit response to active shooters in a variety of
environments, including schools and businesses.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the market’s leading exhibitors
will present cutting-edge technology and equipment on the
trade show floor with many new products being introduced for
the first time! Plus, you’ll be able to try out the latest weaponry
at a special Range Day on Friday at the Blue Ridge Arsenal with
transportation provided from the convention center.
Our trained and responsive Event, Conference and Magazine
staff are dedicated to making this year’s TREXPO East the best
event in first response history. We trust that TREXPO East will
exceed your expectations and provide you with full value.
Thank you for attending the East Coast event of TREXPO’s 2009
Conference and Expo.
